Features & Details

  • Superior Traction and Reliable Handling
  • Excellent Anti-Hydroplaning Characteristics
  • Directional Tread Design
The Nitto Tire NT555 255/45ZR18 is a summer-oriented, ultra high-performance street tire that was designed with the performance driver in mind. With one of the largest contact patches available, the NT555 provides superior traction and reliable handling - without sacrificing tread life. Both the tread pattern and the compound were optimized for dry performance. The highly rigid tread blocks provide stability while prolonging tire life. The NT555 will get you off the line quicker in the straights and provide confidence in the corners.

Superior traction and reliable handling. By utilizing a racing concept design, Nitto Tire's engineers developed the NT555 "Extreme ZR". With a specially formulated compound and one of the biggest contact patches available, the NT555 provides superior traction and reliable handling.

Excellent anti-hydroplaning characteristics. The three-circumferential grooves channel water efficiently, while the lateral grooves break up the water wedge. This combination of grooves and channels reduces the chance of hydroplaning. Combined with an increase in tread block rigidity, a high modulus carcass, and hard bead filler, the NT555 delivers total vehicle control under all driving conditions.

Directional tread design. The tread pattern on the Nitto NT555 is designed for high-speed stability and superb cornering performance. High tread block rigidity secures stable contact with the road under all driving conditions.

5 Year Warranty. This Nitto Tire comes with a 5-year warranty from the date of purchase. Some limitations do apply. Please see the Full Nitto Warranty disclosure for details.

Best Fit: 18 x 9 Inch 2005+ Wheels

  • High-grip compound delivers superior mobility on both wet and dry surfaces, while ensuring a high level of anti-wear performance
  • W Performance Rated, Treadwear 300, Traction and Temperature A

NOTE: These are extreme ultra high performance summer specific compound and tread tires. Use during the summer and warm temperature months will result in far superior traction over “all season” tires. Use during the winter months/cold temperatures drastically reduces traction and exponentially increases stopping distance as the compound becomes less sticky.

I have these Nittos on my Shelby now and wanted to buy a new set, But each my tires say Left, Right. for their respected positions. How.. How do I make sure that I'm getting the right tires for each side of the car, left/ right?

  • Its because they are directional. all the tires are the same. the left and right are only to help the installer make sure they go the right way.

Ordered these with 18x9 Bullitts from AM and love the tires. The performance aspects can be felt immediately, as these tires provide more grip and stability over stock. It felt like we gained an all new suspension. The ride quality is very good and the noise level is fine. Got caught in the rain and the wet traction was the same as the all season street radials we had previously. Have got a lot of positive feedback and comments since putting them on. A well respected tire. Were a perfect match to the rims and the clearence and wheel well spacing is spot on, which it does not scream out that the car should be lowered to fill a gap. A MUST if you are getting new rims for your Mustang!

Got these tires w/wheels from AM. Very pleased with them. They stay glued on dry roads and aren't bad when it rains with the TC on. They hook up nicely on the track but take alittle bit higher revs to do burnouts. Much better then the stock radials. Worth the money.

    Hook Up

Nice tires. Couldn't hook up the OEM's on a Supercharged 05 Mustang. These hook up great. Road pretty harsh until I bled the pressure down from the 47psi that American Muscle shipped them at though!

I researched almost every tire on the market and finally decided to go back to these Nitto's. Aggressive looks and excellent traction on dry pavement. I highly recommend these tires!

    Big improvement over stock!

Not only do they look great on my car but they definetly add improved performance! Handling around turns I can definetly notice an improvement over the stock tires, but on take off is where they truly shine. The stock tires seemed to skid and not grip very well on take offs and these tires provide a much improved traction and smoothness. Resulting in faster take offs and better acceleration off the line. The more RWH you have the more they would help I imagine. I try not to drive my Mustang in the rain so I can't comment on the wet traction but the dry traction is definetly very good!

    Great Package terrible tire

So... i purchase thes tires as part of a package going on three years, the look is AWSOME! It's has been a while since I bought this package so I think I can give these tires a fair review. First, the car is not driven every day and there are only 24K on the tires. The tires tend to get flat spots if the car sits for a while, so gotta deal with the thumping noise of the flat spots when I take the car out.The tires are summer time tires and if the streets have been rainied on the traction is marginal at best. Recently the bead that joins the tread to the side wall split. which left my daughter stranded. Over all I'd never purchase this brand of tire again.

I love the grip in both the dry and the wet. These have been a wonderful tire on the street, strip and track. They wear really well, don't make much noise and grip like flypaper. I'd have another set in a heartbeat.

I've had these tires on my ride for about 6 months tread is still pretty good, these are night and day from stock perelli tires, if you have the 235/50/18 and go with the 255/45/18, as I did you might have to have a high tire pressure for daily use (if using stock wheels) 35 psi is kinda low and the car feels almost like s sluggish boat, 45 psi did the trick slight lose of off the line traction but nothing to bad, wet traction is decent if it's light rain, heavy rain I would suggest to slow down to 55 or less you will feel back get squirrely or front pull hard, haven't had any snow/ice drive time, but in the dry weather these thing are pretty legit before going into drag radial and things of that nature

    Nitto Tires

So far haven't had much of a chance to really put these things to the test, so I can't really say just how good they really are, but from what I've experienced I would say you can't go wrong with these. Right now the weather hear in Wisconsin has been awful, but these tires do grip alright in the wet, and we haven't had any days warmer than 50 degrees, so even though I've had no trouble finding traction I'm sure that grip will get better as the days get warmer. I'll update when summer decides to arrive.

Great tires...I won't buy anything else.

When I bought my first mustang( 98 GT) I tried a few other brands with average to poor results. I had grown tired of only getting around 25,000 max out of a set of tires. The first time I ordered Nitto tires was on the recommendation of another mustang owner. I decided to give them a shot based on that. the price difference was very minimal. Since then i have also owned a 2002 GT and a 2011 GT and only use this type of tire. I have never gotten less than 40,000 miles out of a set of these tires and usually get over 50,000 per set. If you are not doing constant burnouts you can expect great results and life out of these tires. I would say I have purchased 6 or 7 sets of these tires between all 3 cars and I am very happy with them. I live in Oklahoma and the weather can go from -15 in the winter to 115 in the summer and they handle it just fine. I currently use 255/45/18 on the stock 18 inch rims in place of the 235/50/18 from the factory and they look like they were made for the factory rims. The fit is great on the factory 18x8 rims.
