    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Stephanie with here is an overview of the Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller for all 2011 and newer Mustangs. In this video, we're gonna talk about a few different things with the Pedal Commander, like what exactly it is and does, the performance you can expect from it, and we'll cover the install as well. I'll get into more detail in the install later, but this is a very easy plug and play install. So I'm gonna call it a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter. The Pedal Commander's gonna be a good option for those of you out there that are looking to improve throttle response and their drive by wire car. This is a plug and play device that won't void your warranty or add power and torque. It simply improves the drive by wire throttle response. But the electronic throttle control technology or drive by wire setup, there's a lag between the time you hit the pedal and when the throttle body opens. This isn't something that you can change by driving differently, it's just there, and that's how these cars work. T he drive by wire system that these cars have monitors the position of the gas pedal to control the throttle electronically. That means that the signal from the pedal has to be sent to the ECU, which it then sends a signal to the actuator that controls the throttle body, and that's the delay that you feel. So the throttle body is still gonna open at the same rate no matter how you drive. This power converter eliminates that delay and gives you a crisp throttle response. Of course, this isn't gonna add any power or change anything in the way the car drives besides the throttle response. It's gonna make the throttle response more sensitive and the drive more enjoyable. This is gonna be a great option for those of you that don't wanna go the route of a custom tune. Maybe you don't wanna void your warranty or you don't want the other things that come along with the tune, but you just want a better throttle response and that's it. So this controller does have different modes that are preset. You have an Eco, City, Sport, and Sport Plus mode, and these are all four different types of driving. But within those modes, you also have eight different sensitivity settings, so that's four modes with eight different sensitivity settings for each. And that's a ton of different settings, so I'd say that this is gonna help you customize your throttle response to a degree, and getting your car corresponding how you like it to. Price wise, you can expect to pay right around the $300 mark for this controller. This is close to the price of a custom tune for your car, but this is a little bit easier. You just plug this and go. And this controller does give you more options and more modes than other controllers that are currently available on the site. And unlike a tune, you aren't voiding your warranty here, you're just improving the throttle response. As far as the install, this is a very simple one. So, it's gonna be a 1 out of 3 wrenches in the difficulty meter, and it's gonna take about 15 minutes to get plugged in. I'd say that the hardest part of this is laying under the dash. You don't need any tools at all. You're simply gonna unplug the factory harness from above the gas pedal, plug in your power commander, and tuck the wiring back into place. This is all plug and play so it's very simple. You can run your wiring however you'd like to and place your controller anywhere that you want it. Wrapping things up here with the Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller, this is a direct plug and play device that will allow you change and customize your throttle response without boarding warranty or adding hose power. As always, I suggest you check it out more online, and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at

Eliminates Drive-By-Wire Pedal Delay. The 2011-2018 Mustangs are all notorious for delayed throttle response. This is because Ford uses a drive-by-wire system that monitors the position of the gas pedal to control the throttle electronically, similar to a dimmer switch. The problem with this setup is that the signal from the pedal has to first be sent the ECU, which in turn then sends the signal to the actuator motor that controls the throttle body itself. This delay is most noticeable when trying to speed up to merge with fast moving traffic or pass a slower moving car. However, you can now eliminate this annoying delay for crisp throttle response with a Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller.

Four Adjustable Control Modes. Unlike other throttle control devices that are either on or off, the Pedal Commander comes with four preset control modes for Eco, City, Sport and Sport Plus driving applications. Best of all each mode has 8 different levels of sensitivity, this will allow you to personally adjust each mode to your own personal driving style and needs.

Easy Plug & Play Installation. The Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller connects directly into the stock throttle position sensor found on the drive-by-wire gas pedal using an OEM style plug and play connector with no permanent modifications required. The Pedal Commander is 100% reversible making it warranty friendly.

2 Year Product Warranty. Pedal Commander manufactures their Throttle Response Controller to the highest quality and standards with CE and TUV Certification. However in the event you do receive a defective or malfunctioning device, Pedal Commander will replace it free of charge within 2 years of the original purchase date.

Compatible with Aftermarket Programmers. The Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller can be used in conjunction with common aftermarket OBD-II programmers and/or monitors such as: SCT, Diablosport, Hypertech, Superchips, Bully Dog, and Edge.

Application. The Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller is designed for use on all 2011-2018 Mustangs including the V6, EcoBoost, GT, BOSS, Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350 models.

Afternoon, Can this work without doing anything to the tune that i already have? and just plug in and go. / SCT Device.

    • You will not need to purchase this if you have a tuner as the tuner will already increase the throttle response of your vehicle.

How the control is attached to the dash? Screws or 3m tape? Also please let me know if completely eliminate the lag on automatic car? In my car when I set to the ''Sport'' and go to the manual gears mode, I don't feel the delay in response. Just when in Drive, when I step all the way down, the car takes forever to respond. Please let me know if this is the solution I am looking for.

    • The Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller attaches to a bracket that gets screwed into the dash. This could be applied with double sided tape, but it is designed for being installed with screws. This will eliminate throttle lag, giving you 8 sensitivity settings in 4 different drive modes.

When I turn the vehicle off does it go back to factory settings requiring me to reset the throttle setting each time I turn the vehicle on?

    • The Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller should save your settings so that when turn your vehicle back on, those settings will still be applied to your vehicle.

I was about to purchase the RaceChip Response Control, when I notice in the check out that it asked if I was going to put it into a car that was California registered. If so, I would not be able to legally purchase it. Does the same apply for this controller?

Will this product void my factory warranty like tuning your car?

    • Depending on the specific details of your warranty, this Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller may or may not void your warranty - we would highly recommend speaking to the dealership where your vehicle was purchased.

Hello, I have a Bama 93 race tune for my bolt on mods. Will this still make a difference in throttle response, or would they conflict or just not necessary?

    • The Pedal Commander Throttle Response Controller will work fine with a Bama tune, as well as an SCT, Diablosport, Hypertech, Superchips, Bully Dog, and Edge tune.

      Instantly, GONE!

I received an email telling me to remove my throttle commander as it was not compatible with my tune from bama! Disappointed and angry doesn’t express my emotions! I already connected it to my baby and was fully enjoying the IMMENSE throttle response with my basic bolt-ons (long tubes, x pipe, CAI, 90mm TB, and BOSS intake). With the suspension jerking (upgraded as mine is) and seat planting throttle response (seamingly seconds faster than when not installed, bolt ons or not) i was and still am in heaven!!! Note however ive noticed a slight drag to power than before at 65-85 MPH rolls at full throttle but from zero to whatever it takes to beat the chevy/dodge next to you she WILL NOT disappoint! If your suspension is upgraded and your tires are even somewhat sticky then put her on sport and from a stand still/red light...just hold on and SMILE!

2018 Mustang GT with Performance Packs

I purchased this to get rid of the lag and allow better feel/control of the vehicle... I got that and more. Eco mode is a bit weird feeling, like Snow/Wet mode - Just not used to being able to press the accelerator down that much in the GT. Will get used to it though for terrible traffic here in Denver at times. As for the Sport/Sport modes on the PC... Sport with a setting of 2 is very responsive and good setting for my day to day routes I take to/from work. Now, Sport is a little bit too much when you get to neutral or the 1 through 4 sensitivities but incredibly fun to mess around with (at the cost of some rubber). All in all, a very happy purchase and am glad I purchased this!

      Pedal commander

This is a must have for your mustang. You’ll notice a immediate change to your throttle response. I’ve got mine set to city second level, any higher level I feel isn’t streetable at least with the automatic.

      Great little device

Really makes a difference in how the pedal feels and responds. Going to Sport or above, the car just wants to launch. Toning it down during the snowy weather was a nice benefit as well, kept me from spinning out of turns.

A must-have if you like FUN

Got this for my 2018 Mustang GT. The best way I can describe it is that on two of the M3's I used to own, there were 'power' buttons. They didn't increase the power, they just made the throttle more responsive and front-loaded it. The Pedal Commander is like having four power buttons. I would rate them as: Eco - Chilling City - BOOM Sport - HANG ON TO YOUR A** Sport - Do NOT click this setting unless you like getting thrown back in your seat every time you hit the gas (which I do). :-] Price at $300 I think is steep but given it brings the car to life (across all gears), I recommend it.

      My Pedal Commander

I bought the device in an attempt to smooth out mild acceleration on my modified V6 2011 Mustang. The device did do that but not the way I expected. It worked best in Eco mode. i now describe my car as being on a tranquilizer and, as a result, much easier to drive around town in daily use. When we are ready to rock, I'll click up to performance or race setting and get after it. :-)

I've been thinking about getting a throttle enhancer for months, but just could not decide on whether a tuner would've been a better option over these devices. So, I bought a tuner, did a race tune, and to my dismay, the 5.0 did not respond well with my KandN filter. My loss, I returned the tune and paid the 25 restocking fee to the local vendor. Bottom line as far as I am concerned, a tuner is definitely needed if you did more to your Mustang than I have done to mine, which was simply, add a cold air intake. Basically, what I was looking for, was to remove the lag from the pedal, and enjoy more spirited driving. While I was a bit skeptical of the Pedal Commander and other throttle enhancers, I opted to give it a try either way. The installation was simple, and the throttle response was near immediate in the controller's Sport Mode plus two button presses to the right. At Sport Mode 2 it is also awesome, and I love it, however for day to day driving, I prefer the current setting as described. So, basically what you get from this unit is ... if you;re driving a stock 5.0 and you floor it you have to wait for the vehicle to respond ... if your response time was 20 seconds, this appears to more than cut it in half. Trust me, you can really feel it, and it leads to more spirited driving and smoky tires :-) Also note, in the mode that I really enjoy, my six speed manual bucks a bit in first, not a problem for me but might be for others, as I adapted my driving to it. All in all, the Pedal Commander Throttle Response appears well engineered and designed, and is clearly functional. The only problem I have is installing it to a hidden location, but I believe I found one on the outer lower dash outside the center console. Your car will feel as if you dropped $$$$ on engine work as this unit wakes your engine with an almost immediate, fun to drive, throttle response.

First of all. This is my first muscle car. 2017 GT Mustang. I was an import guy before this car . Over the years I have spent lots of money on electronic upgrades that didn't do diddly. We hooked this device up and followed the instructions and whoaaaaaaaa. For 300 bucks it's the best bang for your buck possible. It WILL get you down the quarter mile faster and WILL have you roasting tires in FOURTH.... Yes FOURTH gear..... Must have for new mustang owners.....
