Hey, guys. It's Sarah with americantrucks.com. And today, we have a review and install of the Power Stop OE Replacement 6-Lug Brake Pad and Rotor Kit for the rear. This kit is perfect for the F-150 owner looking for an OE replacement kit that is gonna get the job done of replacing your brakes without breaking the bank. This kit was designed as an OE replacement for your pads and rotors for the rear of your F-150, so the construction is similar to your OE pads and rotors, and is ideal for your daily driver. Also, if you are looking for more of a performance upgrade, Power Stop offers those options as well. In addition, they offer several kits for the front of your truck. The rotors in this kit are constructed from cast iron, and the pads feature a ceramic compound, for minimal dust and noise. So, as far as price goes, this one comes in at around $100, making it a budget-friendly way to replace your pads and rotors.I'm giving this install a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It features direct bolt-up installation, and can be done within two hours. So, with that said, let's jump into our install. For this install, you will need an impact gun or a ratchet, a 10-millimeter socket, and you may want a swivel extension, a small flat-head, or a small pry bar, a caliper hanger tool, or you can use a bungee cord. You may also want a small rubber mallet and a caliper tool. All right, so the first step in the install for the rear is to grab a 10-millimeter socket. We're gonna remove the two bolts going into the back of the caliper. All right, so we have our 10-millimeter socket. We're also using a swivel, just to make it easier to get on this top bolt. Go ahead and remove them now. All right, now, once you have the bolts out, you can wiggle your caliper loose. Now, the pads are gonna come with it. You may need to get a pry bar in and compress the piston a little bit, so that it will pull off the rotor. All right, so we're just going in here to the rotor with a small pry bar, and we're just prying back, and this is gonna push the piston in just enough to get it to clear. Now, one of the brake pads, this one in front here, has a ridge on the front and the back, so that's the one we're gonna...may fight us a little bit. There's also a clip up top here on the front brake pad. The brake pad does come with the rotor, so you may have to just pry back on it a little bit in order to just get it free. Okay, now we can remove the brake pads. Now, to do this, we have to remove the top pad first, the one that has this clip on the outside here. There's two little posts coming off the brake pad, so we just have to pull down, and then out, and it should clear on each side. Once you've done that, there's enough room to get the bottom one out. Just grab it and pull it up, and the clip should release. Now, once we have this all the way disassembled, grab your caliper hanger tool, or you can grab a bungee cord if you don't have one. We're just trying to keep the tension off the brake line while we finish our brakes. All right, so the next step is to just remove these metal clips that hold our brake pad. You can just wiggle it loose with a flat-head. And now, while we're looking at this, you may want to come in with a wire brush and just clean this up a little bit, so the new clips can sit nicely. All right, so at this point, we can remove the rotor. So, ours seems like it's going to wiggle off. If yours does not, you can grab a rubber mallet and hit the back of the rotor, spin it, keep hitting it, until it's free. All right, so now that we have our factory pads and rotors uninstalled from our truck, we can put them side by side with our Power Stop kit. And as you can see, these kits are identical, because this is Power Stop's OE Replacement kit. So, while it's not a performance upgrade, it's still gonna get your brakes replaced from these old tired pads and rotors, these nice new replacements. And if you are looking for a performance upgrade, Power Stop offers those as well. But if you're looking to just get your brakes replaced, these guys will get the job done, and save you some money while you're at it. So, let's get these installed on the truck. All right. Now, we can get the rotor installed. Now, you do want to spray it front and back with a little brake clean, and make sure you're getting this inside edge as well, for the emergency brake. Then we can line it up with the studs and get it installed. All right, now we can install these new clips to hold the brake pads over each top of this bracket here. You may have to lightly tap them in place, especially if there's buildup around the bracket. All right, so now, we're going to press in the piston on the caliper, so that it clears the new brake pads. We have a caliper tool here. You can use a C-clamp, but this guy really makes it a lot easier. We're going to have to press it in almost flush to the caliper. Just go ahead and go slow. And then once it's pretty much flush here, it should clear the new pads. All right, at this point, we can install the bottom brake pad. Make sure that the clips are all inside the piston, because if one is on the outside, you're going to bend it and it's not going to sit flush. Then go ahead and press it in place. Moving on to the upper brake pad, make sure that the pin is in the right spot with the other stock one. It should be up top here if we were working on the driver's side. Slide these pins over top of the caliper. May have to wiggle them a little bit, and they should sit in place. All right, so now we can get the caliper installed over the rotor. We're gonna look to put this clip here inside this brake pad on the bottom. So make sure that lines up, and then we're gonna push it past this pin up top here. We also need to be aware of the sliders, to make sure that they're on the outside of the bracket, because otherwise, it will not line up. And then press it into place. All right. So, one thing I did want to mention. Because we're doing this for demonstration, we did not do it. We want to apply a little bit of grease right on top of these right here, so the brake pad can slide back and forth, so we don't have any noise or any hang-ups. Once you have the caliper fully installed, go ahead and slide the bolts into the back, and thread them into the bracket. And grab your 10-millimeter socket, and tighten these down. Again, you may need a swivel for this top bolt. All right, so now that this side is complete, you want to repeat that same process for the other side, and make sure that you're pumping your brakes to test that they're working before you drive anywhere. But, that is going to do it for the review and install of our pad and rotor kit. And remember for all things Ford, keep it at americantrucks.com.
