    If you're looking for a 50-state legal way to increase the horsepower in your '96 to '98 Cobra by roughly 50% then the ProCharger high output centrifugal blower setup might just be the way to roll. And I think for the most part, these cars are pretty underrated. The 4-valve [inaudible 00:00:54] engines were pretty stout overall along with that low compression made them pretty good candidate for forced induction. Now in stock trim, these cars made 305 horsepower and 300-pound-feet of torque at the crank. But like anything in the Mustang world that is hardly enough for most gear heads out there. Now, the [inaudible 00:01:39] block is pretty damn near bulletproof but if you want to go above and beyond what the ProCharger is set up to do at eight pounds, a forged rotating assembly and more fueling will be a necessity. But with all that said, let's start breaking down some of the bigger components. I don't have everything on the table, guys, because there are a ton of parts included with this kit, instead we got some of the biggies. Now, right out of the box, guys, again, this kit is set up to produce roughly eight pounds of boost but the blower by itself is capable of much more if you ever wanted to turn things up down the road. Now, for the record, ProCharger did back the P-1SC head unit here with a one-year warranty along with a three-year warranty on the air-to-air intercooler portion here. But speaking of the intercooler, you are gonna find the two core unit, which you're looking at which is capable of supporting up to 950 horsepower, so certainly efficient enough at the boost level that we're talking about here, which again is roughly six to eight pounds depending on your mods.&nbsp;<BR style="FONT-SIZE: 12px; WHITE-SPACE: normal; WORD-SPACING: 0px; TEXT-TRANSFORM: none; FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: rgb(51,51,51); FONT-STYLE: normal; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; ORPHANS: 2; WIDOWS: 2; LETTER-SPACING: normal; BACKGROUND-COLOR: rgb(248,248,248); font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial"><BR style="FONT-SIZE: 12px; WHITE-SPACE: normal; WORD-SPACING: 0px; TEXT-TRANSFORM: none; FONT-WEIGHT: 400; COLOR: rgb(51,51,51); FONT-STYLE: normal; TEXT-ALIGN: justify; ORPHANS: 2; WIDOWS: 2; LETTER-SPACING: normal; BACKGROUND-COLOR: rgb(248,248,248); font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial">But as I said earlier, guys, this is the whole deal here minus what I don't have on the table from soup to nuts, meaning you're getting all of your piping, all of your bracketry, in addition to that six rim shared belt setup. ProCharger does also include their ProFlow bypass valve with this kit along with an FMU and the tune here loaded onto your DiabloSport device to get you up and running for the very first time. Now, the FMU or fuel management unit and the included tune will again be a safe and conservative way to get the car running for the very first time. Of course, you do have to run some of the piping and mount the intercooler itself, but overall, really shouldn't be a terribly difficult job for any average mechanic out there. But nevertheless, the site is gonna kick this one up to a full three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and a day or so to get everything in place. So, if you're looking to really wake up that 4-valve Cobra through forced induction, the ProCharger high output kit will be a 50-state legal turnkey way to do so, and you can grab yours right here at americanmuscle.com.

    More Horsepower! The stock Cobra came with a decent 305 Horsepower and 300 lb/ft of Torque from the factory, but after installation a ProCharger-equipped SVT Cobra can make 45-50% more horsepower at the flywheel.         procharger hazards? now with this since your not naturally aspirated shouldnt you be running a lower compression piston as not to add excessive wear? a

        • Technically, whenever you run boost you should lean towards having your bottom end forged. Often times depending on the boost level, you should lower the compression as well. Procharger however, spends time designing these kits specifically for the stock application with engine longevity in mind. Keeping the car at a safe boost level (with a professional-conservative tune) would not require you to lower your compression. The magic HP number for this year cobra tends to be around 400-430hp before people tend to have problems. As with any forced induction on a stock motor, if you dont keep the rpms in the red zone all day you will be fine!

        Running a 97 Cobra with full bolt ons to include JLT CAI and Accufab throttle body with no changes to MAF, fuel pump or injectors. No internal work. Would I need to upgrade additional fuel, air or anything else if I wanted to run this at 6 to 7 psi only..minus tune of course. Looking for a direct apply and go...

        • This Procharger High Output Intercooled Supercharger System is designed for stock applications, so it would be difficult to say which components you would need for your exact application. Depending on your build goals, and fuel type you may need an upgraded fuel system. We would highly recommend speaking to your tuner about your exact build and your desired goal.

        Would this fit a 1996 mustang gt 4.6 or do you have a procharger for one

        • The Procharger High Output Intercooled Supercharger System will not work with a 1996 GT.         I have a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII with a 96 Cobra Motor Swap. Would this kit still work on that car since it has the 96 Cobra motor?

        • This kit has only been tested for fitment with a 96-98 Cobra and we would not be able to confirm fitment for your vehicle.

            Good Starting kit

            Good starting kit, comes with almost everything you need to bolt on. Be expected to buy some couplers as mine came with some odd sizes that did not fit the tubes. Instructions aren't that great, not enough pictures.

            Great kit!

            I have had this kit on my 98 cobra for 20,000 miles now and I couldn't be any happier with the results of this pro charger. I recently upd the boost from the stock 6 pounds to 10.5 and I'm now making 430rwhp! I have never had any problems with the system and would recommend procharger to any mustang owner.
