Review & Installation Video

So the Axial Black Projector Headlights will be a great choice for the non-HID '09 to '14 F-150 owners out there who are looking to make a big-time change when it comes to that factory appearance and go with something a lot more custom. Now, the black housing headlights will utilize a projector-style low beam along with a reflector-style high beam, and of course, you have those LED halos surrounding both the lows and highs, contributing to that more modified look. Now, the Axial projectors are gonna land you right in that mid-$300 price range. And the install, yes, it will involve the smallest amount of wiring, but even with that being the case, I'm still gonna go one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here, and I will expand on that a little bit later in the video. Now, headlights are certainly one of those areas in the aftermarket that allow truck owners to go as mild or as wild as you like, depending on your taste. Now, I don't think anyone would argue the fact that the Axials that we're featuring in this video certainly land on the wilder side and therefore would probably not appeal to the truck owners who prefer more of that OE or factory look or appearance. But if you haven't already done so, feel free to check out the wide selection of lights we do have on the site here, as we do have something for both the mild and the wild crowd. So we've established that the Axials are certainly a little wilder here in this video, but let's break them down from an appearance standpoint. And starting off, you're gonna find that black housing along with a clear lens. Now, I like this because it's gonna give you the look of those dark smoke lights but without compromising the output or throw of your headlights like a set of dark smoke lenses would. But from there, the Axials really kick things up a notch with the inclusion of those LED halo accent lights surrounding both your high and low beams, like we talked about earlier. Now, your lows are going to incorporate a more modern projector-style housing, while the high beams are going to incorporate more of a traditional reflector-style housing, so you're getting a mix of both here with these particular lights. Now, beneath the highs and lows, Axial does incorporate some LED accent lighting into the parking light area, which when combined with those LED halos, does make for a very unique appearance. Also wanna point out, guys, that these lights do include high and low beam bulbs already installed for you, but if you did wanna mix things up a little bit, the low beams do utilize the factory H13-style bulb, much like your factory '09 to '14 headlights would. But besides the wild styling these lights tend to bring to the table, I would also think they're gonna flow real well with any other aftermarket smoke lights you may have added to your F-150, while the LED lights are gonna make a great complement to other LED lighting, again, you may have already added in addition to some auxiliary lighting as well. Now, I did wanna revisit the price one more time before we talk about the install, and I think you'll find that these particular Axials will be one of your more affordable options when it comes to grabbing something that incorporates the LED halo accents along with that projector-style beam. Now, you can certainly spend a lot more money by checking out a Recon headlight, but all in all, at the end of the day, the mid-$300 price point for the Axial here is certainly relatively affordable compared to your other options in the category. But let's briefly talk about the installation here, guys, and swapping headlights on these particular trucks is very basic stuff. However, don't forget to factor in some of the light wiring we mentioned earlier for the LED accents. Nothing too crazy, and that's why I'm still sticking to my strong one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and maybe an hour or so before you get everything knocked out. Tool wise, just a basic socket set in addition to a Phillips-head screwdriver, in addition to the wiring tool of choice for you. Crimpers, crimps, wire taps, or even a soldering iron, whatever you guys prefer. Go ahead and pop the hood on your F-150 and locate the small Phillips-head screw to remove the flap on the side of your light, exposing a mounting bulb. Now, remove the three total bolts using your socket set and pull the light out from your truck. Now, before you bolt the new Axials into place, go ahead and tap the LED accents and halos into your parking lights using the taps, wire crimps, or soldering iron of your choice. Now, at this point, go ahead and make sure all of the lights function as they should. Install the lights, tighten down your three bolts, reinstall your flap, close the hood, and your installation is complete. So if you're looking to make a big-time change from the factory F-150 headlights, you'll have to check out these LED halo options from Axial right here at americantrucks.com.
