How to Install Putco 48 in. Tailgate LED Light Bar on your F-150

Tools Required
  • Eye Protection
  • Electrical tape (if needed)
  • Screwdriver (Phillips)
  • Special Chemicals & Solutions

Please note: You must follow these instructions to install the parts correctly otherwise damage may occur.

Read all instructions before installation and check to see if all parts listed are included.


LED TAILGATE LIGHT BAR WIRING AND INSTALLATION

1. Pre‐installation preparation.

Verify the kit contents (check against parts listing). Remove any protective wrapping from the light strips or bolt kit.

2. Attach LED tailgate light bar to vehicle.

Secure the light bar to the vehicle with either the included screws (may require drilling) or the double‐sided tape.

Make sure LED light bar is installed in the direction as below photo with wire harness in right side. Otherwise, the turning signal will enable in wrong direction.


3. For vehicles with a hitch/towing package:

Plug LED tailgate light bar into hitch receptor.

The LED light bar is equipped with a 4 way plug. This plug installs into the existing plug on your truck's towing package. Insert strip light 4-way plug into the matching receptor on your truck and wiring is complete.


To enable white back-up lights you must splice the separate white wire into your vehicle's existing reverse light. Be sure to cover the splice with electrical tape or electrical product.

4For vehicles without a hitch/towing package:

Wire LED tailgate light bar into electrical system.

Use the included color-coded wiring harness and splice each wire to the appropriate wire on your vehicle’s tail lamps. Be sure to
