I purchased this and am using the 4 pin trailer hook up and I am getting trailer warning on my dash. I have a 2017 f150. Why I am getting these warnings? Do I need to wire it differently?

MattW

hi i bought a light bar from local parts place and when i plugged it in my trailer plug it made truck think i had a trailer plugged in .if your plug in there it will do same thing right . iam i wrong . you have to wire it in some other way .................. because i called the factory and they said if you have a king ranch f150 thats what well happen if you plug it in the trailer plug please let me know .

What makes this Putco light bar different from others so the trailer sensing circuit on my 2017 will not flash a "trailer connected" message on my dash? I connected a competitors light bar that plugged into the trailer plug just like this one and got the "trailer connected" message and another message that said "left signal failure". After unplugging the light bar the messages would not go away until putting the truck in reverse. Have you installed one on a 2017 with the backing assist feature?

Bubba

I heard that by using the trailer plug or hard wiring into the trailer plug harness you will get trailer warnings on the dash and will need to access the tail light circuit and wire it into there. Is that true for this harness also?

Bubba

  • The Putco 60 in. Blade Tailgate LED Light Bar should not cause any trailer warnings on the dash of your F150.

Will this interfere with the Ford stock backup camera or sensors?

RobertD

  • The stock back up cameras were located on the tailgate and the sensors were usually located on the bumper and they would not interfere with this Putco 60 in. Blade Tailgate LED Light Bar.
