Hey everyone, Justin with, and this is our PowerPack Bolt-on build up for all 05-09 Mustang GTs. The goal of this Power Pack is to take our stock 07 GT, and combine it with some of our most popular performance bolt ons. The result will be twofold, we’re going to add more horsepower and torque at the rear wheels, while really cranking up the volume on our 4.6L to make our GT sound as tough as it looks. Currently, our 2007 GT is bone-stock performance wise, so let’s get it outside and hear how that stock exhaust sounds, and then get it back on the dyno to get some baseline numbers down. So our stock dyno run gave us 259 horsepower, and 289 ft/lbs of torque. Alright, now that we’ve got some baseline numbers from our 07 GT, we’re going to talk to Mike Wilson, our lead calibrator from Bama performance, to walk us through some of the mods we’re going to do today. Mike, what have you got up first for us? Mike: Well, first we’re going to install this Airaid race cold air intake which is a great first mod, it’s going to increase air flow, give us a big gain in horsepower and torque, and has a really easy install. Justin: Alright Mike, I know with some cold air intake systems you need a tune, sometimes you don’t, what’s up with this Airaid? Mike: The Airaid Race cold air intake does require a tune, because of that, we’re going to install a Bama performance 93 octane race tune, which is going to increase our horsepower and torque by adjusting the spark curves, fuel map, the drive by wire calibration, really improves the horsepower and torque. Justin: That’s awesome man, I know in addition to that we’re also going to throw in a Pypes off road X-pipe, and also a Pypes axleback system as well, what can we expect from that? Mike: That’s also going to free up the exhaust flow which is going to give us more horsepower and torque, and it’s going to sound incredible compared to your stock exhaust. Justin: Our second dyno run with all the performance parts installed on our 2007 GT gave us 293 horsepower, and 309 ft/lbs of torque, making for a peak gain of 35 horsepower, and gains of 36 horsepower and 29 ft/lbs of torque throughout the curve. Alright Mike, that’s awesome, what do you think of the results? Mike: exactly what I expected. We’re putting the cold air kit on, the exhaust, and wrapping it all up with a custom tune, we’re definitely going to feel a big difference in the street. Justin: Awesome. Well, with that said, we’re going to get our 07 GT back on the streets, because I’m dying to hear how this Pypes combination is going to sound versus our stock exhaust so thanks again, Mike. Mike: Any time. Justin: Now that we have our 07 GT out on the road we finally get to see these mods in action and I’ve got to tell you they’re really doing their job. Our GT just pulls so much harder on the upper RPM range, which means our car is breathing a whole heck of a lot easier. The best part is, they installed easily in about 2 hours, with simple hand tools and a few floor jacks. Balances Exhaust Gases. The Pypes Off Road X-Pipe is excellent when it comes to balancing out the gas pressures in your exhaust system. This Pypes off road x-pipe creates more power and torque than a traditional H-pipe. Why? Because the exiting exhaust pulses are merged at the "X", resulting in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing Pypes x-pipe for the 2005 to 2010 GT's not only increases power, but it also adds a raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Modular Construction. Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove catalytic converters to your exhaust system in just minutes, depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved exhaust flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

would this x-pipe off-road fit v6 2007 mustang dual exhaust ? , if not why ?


  • No, Bolt pattern and width space between manifolds from both sides of the v6 and v8 are different.

My catalytic converters are going bad i just want to delet them. Does this kit cover that? All stock btw


  • The Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe would eliminate the OEM catalytic converters, as well as change your OEM H pipe to an X Pipe. You will get p0420 and p0430 codes for catalyst efficiency, which can be corrected with a tune.

When I get that check engine light, I know I can use a obd2 scanner to remove it but will the car still run rich?


  • To correct the check engine light with this Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe or any off-road mid-pipe you will need a custom tune. Using an OBD2 scanner will only clear the code, but it will still illuminate after a drive cycle or perhaps even sooner because it does not actually correct the issue.

  • The Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe will have no issues fitting with any stock or aftermarket catback or axleback exhaust.

Can I pair these with long tube headers ?


  • Theoretically yes you can, however this X-Pipe comes with down-pipes to match up with short headers. So depending on what the setup you want to run, this may not be the fit you are looking for.

Will this fit with pypes muffler delete axel back exhaust? And also will I need to buy anything else with this in order for it to fit?


  • These Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe will attach to the factory over-axle pipes and the Pypes Muffler-Delete Axle-Back Exhaust, item 20022, will connect to the other end of the over-axles for a flawless install, without additional parts. If you were looking to replace the stock over-axle for max sound and performance, we would highly recommend the Pypes Mid-Muffler Cat-Back Exhaust, item 20019 or 383693 if you would like the black tips.

    WOW. Bought from AM and pipe came in the mail about a week later. INSTALLATION: Had a shop install it, they said the install went great but they had to alter the pipe a tiny bit (bore a hole 1mm wider) to fit the passenger side O2 sensor in it, and that it was a bit of a reach. Not a problem though! Took 45mins to install with one mechanic doing it. Cost me 124 bucks at a high-end muffler shop. Before reading on, consider that I have Pypes Violator axlebacks. They're chambered mufflers, but they're high flow and loud. Not quite straight pipes, but close. Not as loud or raw as Pypes Bomb. LOUDNESS: This is LOUD! driving home from the shop I was scared to even let it above 2000RPM! Immediately turned heads everywhere I went. This is LOUDDD. You can creep quietly through a neighborhood if you have to, but if you need to accelerate.. game over.. haha.. Idle past cops. EXHAUST NOTE: Takes a bit of getting used to! After the drive home from the shop I sort of felt like I rap]ed my GT. This innocent pony was now snarling, screaming and growling as if it's mad at me... wasn't sure I loved it until I did some driving later that night...I fell in love with the sound. It's a challenge keeping the car quiet driving downtown and in neighborhoods, but I love doing it (saves me gas too, up 2 MPG). As soon as you add power, the raspy sound will come out at any RPM range. with full power, the entire band is LOUD and it opens up at about 2000, from 2000 to 3500 it gets a bit raspy, but as soon as you get it over 3500 it turns into a beautiful smooth tuned race sound. I love merging onto roads and watching other drivers faces when they hear it.. Oh, and when you start it up the hairs on the back of your neck will stand up. The sound itself is raw and raspy... but not in a bad way.. you can almost hear each cylinder fire, and it seems that having virtually the same flow out of each pipe allows this. If you don't love it at first, you will learn to love it. Goes very well with my violators. POWER: I don't even have a tune for it yet (waiting for tuner in mail) but the car breathes so much better above 4000. It reaches redline much faster. Definitely feel the horses. Pipe makes it sound like im packing 700 of em, too. BANG FOR YOUR BUCK: Absolutely. Everywhere you go, your car will turn heads. Floor it, and everyone in the town will be looking for the source of that great noise. Puts Lambos and Ferraris to shame ;) Girls love it, too. Also note that without the catalytic converters, your exhaust is quite a bit more smelly, and you'll often catch a sniff of it at a light or cruising windows down. Warning: This is loud. Scary loud and agressive. If you don't want your Mustang to sound like a 700hp race car, don't buy it. I hope this review helped! Thanks AM, you guys are the best.

    Great sound

    This is a great x-pipe if you want to be on your neighbors shit list. This system sounds great, especially with chambered mufflers. If you have a straight through pipe (SLP power-flo, SLP loudmouth), you will pretty much be able to wake the dead with this system. It makes your car sound great, and you will notice a horsepower increase in mid range speeds!

    Loud and Fast!

    I just got these installed recently, easy install and man is it LOUD!!! Paired with the Pypes Violator Mufflers, it truly is an awesome sound. Goes faster too, i can definitely feel more the extra Horses. Lol cops liked it too. Only thing is the check engine light due to two trouble from the fact that the O2 sensors picked up more emissions cause of no cats. programmer fixes that easily. It's great, you feel your hairs stand and a nice chill go down your spine when you start it.

    Very Loud

    This x-pipe is extremely loud, worth ever penny. Your neighbors will just love you in the morning when you crank up your mustang. Great product, I would highly recommend this along with the Pypes muffler delete set up. I have them both on my 05 GT and let me tell you I turn heads every where I go. I've had cops pull me just to hear me rev up, chicks love it, and those guys with the classic stangs out there show me much respect.....its a beast let me tell you. Pics coming soon, I've been a customer of AM for 5 years now, they got me for life.

    Good Start

    The pipe sounds good, brings out that \"Mustang sound\". At first I didnt like it, but its growing on me. Will definitely require at least an axle-back to complete the sound. NOTE: When installing this, you will have to remove the battery and battery tray to access the top manifold flange bolt on the passenger side. After you remove the battery and tray, also disconnect the wiring harness for the front O2 sensor as you will have to drop it with the stock H-pipe. These little hints are not in the instructions.

    Race track LOUD!

    This is a very loud set up and I mean LOUD! So here's the deal. If you go to the race track or really hate the people you live around then this is the set up for you. If however, you use your pony as a daily driver as I do, save yourself a few bucks and just get the X pipe. I installed the off-road system with my violator mufflers and it was just way too loud and raspy without the cats. I re-installed the cats and just the cut and clamp x-pipe and was very pleased with the result. Sounds better and you can feel the mid range power increase. Less drone then the stock H-pipe. Install was very simple with basic hand tools and mechanical skills. It took me about an hour and a half without a lift. The x-pipe looks better as well for those of you that like to look under your car alot!!

    Pypes off road X-pipe

    Lets start off by saying i got this part in a day and a half. what great service. Thanks AM!! Now about the product. It came nicely packaged and with instructions and stickers. looked great in the box and was pleased with the quality and price of the x-pipe. install wasn't hard if you have some experience. the hardest part was the removal of the old cats and h-pipe. After that install went great. Fits like a glove and had no problems installing. After the race tune from BAMA was installed the first start up was shocking!! This x-pipe was installed with the factory headers and Pypes Pype-Bomb axle backs. What an awesome sound if you like old school muscle car sound. It's just like a race car. Its a little raspy when the system is cold but sounds great when it warms up!! I turn heads every where I go now. As someone else said on here( Its Wake The Dead Loud). Thanks AM and BAMA!! And Thanks to PYPES for a great product at a great price!!

    Pypes O/R X-pipe

    This product is awesome, and has a very loud tone between 1500 and 3500 RPMs. Product was well wrapped when I received it. I took my time installing it. I put it on a lift at an auto skills center on a air force base and paid $24 for the time I spent putting it up. The pain was getting my rusted factory H-pipe off but I used some liquid wrench penetrating oil and let it sit and finally got it off. Once I put this x-pipe on It was time for business. Loaded up a bama tune to balance everything out and I was tearing up the streets. First drive to the store I had people turning heads. Amazing product and great service from AM.

    Holy cow!!

    Jesus Christ! You hate your neighbors? Buy this. I don't think you'd need to spend $400 for an X-pipe since Pypes honestly makes some of the best ones around. The hardest part of the install is removing the stock H-pipe. I don't have a tuner but I can feel it pick up speed faster since it isn't restrictive and it weighs 20lbs lighter. Then comes the sound. The raspy, glorious sound. This isn't for the faint of heart. You don't buy this if you want a cool sounding daily driver. You get this X-pipe because you want to be the badass on the block.     Want that snarly race car sound? Go no further.

    I'll start off by saying that this system is loud when combined with the Pypes Pype-Bomb resonator tips, but in the best way possible. Any where from creeping through a neighborhood and letting your pony snarl at others, or letting it rip in the 3000+ RPM range on the main roads, you won't be disappointed. This combo is a major head turner, and nothing but compliments have came my way since installation. With the Pype o/r x pipe and the Pype-Bombs combo, you will see a side of your stang that you never thought could have existed. Sounds like a race car if pushed hard, but settles to a deep snarl when going light on the pedal. Install time was about 2.5 hours for both the x pipe and the Pype-Bomb resonator tips, mainly because the stock mufflers were such a hassle to take off, other than that it was all bolted on in an hour or so in my garage. As for power, I noticed the main difference climbing at 3000 RPMs, and I assure you that the new found horses are certainly not shy when putting that pedal down. Buy it and listen to it growl.

    Raspy Noise!

    If you don't like the raspy sound, DONOT buy this product. If you do, this is Great product! I didn't like the sound when they were first installed but after acouple hundred miles, they sound great. Awesome product.

    Pypes off-road X-pipe on 2006 Mustang GT

    This product is great! Will need to tune for full benefit. If you really love your neighbors you WILL have to be easy on the throttle. Especially if you have headers and some aftermarket axlebacks. But I would let that stop you. No regrets whatsoever.

    Just installed in my 09 mustang gt, along with my flomaster mufflers the to together are amazing, i can feel the power difference already you will wake your neighbors but thats the fun of it, well worth the money its a must have.

    As advertised

    I received this o/r x pipe 3 days after ordering. Must say it is very loud. Make sure to throw a tune as to not pop any codes up, as I'm sure you all should know. The only complaint is whoever owned the 05 before me installed Flowmasters. These definitely aren't my muffler of choice for these 3v mustangs. There is still an extreme "trumpeting" effect around 2500rpm, even after a few hundred miles on the exhaust. They have mellowed in tone a tad bit. But if you don't want the rasp and jake brake sound between shifts, get a straight through eshaust. Other than that, I knew it would sound this way, and am overall happy with the product. Took a mere 2 hours for the install with many beer breaks in between. PB blaster works wonders on the stubborn nuts as well. One man install shouldn't take longer than an hour if you hit it all at once. All in all, great product for the price, simply can't beat American Muscle!

    sounds ok but fit was horrible

    I bought this x pipe because of the reviews it got on this page but was very disappointed. I installed it on my 08 bullitt and had lots of fit problems especially on the manifolds. the flanges on the pypes x pipe do not fit properly at all. I had to drill bigger holes in the flanges. Im running with stock bullitt mufflers and so far i like the sound but really really raspy. sounds like i can hear the sound waves bouncing off the inner walls of the x pipe haha. cant image how it would sound on non-chambered mufflers. in all you get what u pay for, go for the better quality x pipes.

    Great mod for the price.

    Very pleased with this X pipe. Install took about an hour just on jack stands in the driveway. Combined with my Pypes shorty headers and Pypes Bomb axle-back, it sounds great. It's not as loud as I expected, but still makes plenty of noise without being too raspy. Cruising through town its not super loud, until you stomp the gas and then it screams and turns heads everywhere. I noticed a considerable gain in power too over ~2500 rpm. Can't wait to get a tuner so that I'll be able to get the most out of it, as well as turn off the annoying Check Engine light.

    2009 GT, I had this installed this past weekend coupled with my other mods,tuned it AND wow, this exhaust is awesome, i also have flowmasters. I would recomend this to anyone wanting to get great power gains and have that great, raspy muscle car sound, NICE!

    The neighbors will hate you

    Easy install on my 07 GT. Only concern was the fit. Had to tweak the passenger side to fit properly onto the stock exhast manifold. But its an aftermarket part and if you've ever dont any other bolt-on goodness, you know that tweaking is normal. Was going to run it with no mufflers. But, It was go to jail loud. I put the stock mufflers back on, but it sounded exactly like flowmasters and every other mustang out there, not what I was looking for. So now the set up is the o/r x-pipe with cherry bomb glasspacks and I absolutely love it! Couldn't be happier. I don't experience the raspiness normally associated with x-pipes. The car absolutely screams at about 3k rpm, and there's no roar at highway speed. Has that old muscle car sound at idle. You will draw attention to yourself, everybody stares. I have yet to have any problems with the cops, and I've been running this setup for about a month and a half now. NOTE: Check engine light will come on, that is a given due to removing the cats (common sense really) Simply purchase a CAI/programmer package from AM and problem solved. And plus its a hell of a deal. I'd roughly say a 30+hp gain with the exhaust, CAI and programmer. Not bad for under $800. My father even likes the sound. And he's a tough man to please. He even jacked my car keys and took the Stang for a joy ride he liked it so much!

    If you're undecided, just STOP AND BUY IT!

    I've been researching and watching youtube videos for the past 5 months. I just recently said **** it and bought it. WOW! This thing is LOUD! Paired up with my Flowmaster American Thunders it sounds insane! But i'm going to be buying SLP Loudmouth's! Also please note: I do not have a intake/tuner. I am using this on 91 octane, Mobil 1 Full synthetic, and offroad x pipe with Flowmaster American Thunders! So far no check engine light, but for those of you asking, YES it is just fine to run an offroad x pipe without an intake and a tuner!
