    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. I'm Justin with, here with my detailed overview of the Pypes Catted Long Tube Headers with 1 and 7/8 inch primaries fitting your 2015 and up Mustang GT. All right, guys, this overview is gonna cover the basic construction of the Pypes Catted Long Tube Headers, what you can expect as far as performance and benefits, and then finally we'll do a quick little walkthrough on the install. And speaking of the install, this one's gonna get a full three out of three wrenches on my difficulty scale. Long tube headers are always a chore on the Coyote-powered Mustangs and these are no different, and we'll have a little bit more detail on that later on. The Pypes Catted Long Tube should appeal to anyone with a newer S-550 GT out there who is looking to step into one of the more serious bolt-ons and doesn't want to totally destroy their budget or wallet in the process.

Improves Horsepower and Torque. Give the guy in the opposing lane a run for his money by installing a pair of Pypes Long Tube Headers under the hood of your GT. Pypes Headers are engineered to increase the exhaust flow of your Coyote powered Mustang for an improvement in rear wheel horsepower and torque. Increases of 50 RWHP has been seen with a custom tune. Pypes 1-7/8" Long Tube Headers are great for use on naturally aspirated 5.0L Mustangs, but really come into their own when you decide to step up to a bigger cam or supercharger.

Make Some Extra Noise. Pypes Long Tube Headers not only improve the performance of your 5.0L V8 powered Mustang, but they will also improve its sound. With its high-flow design, these Long Tube Headers are less restrictive than stock allowing you to pick up a few decibels in your exhaust note for a more aggressive sound.

High Flow Cats. Pypes high flowing catalytic converters are designed to outperform the restrictive factory cats. The included high flow catalytic converters provide a significant improvement in exhaust flow for a measured increase in rear wheel horsepower and torque.

Quality Construction. Pypes 304 stainless steel Long Tube Exhaust Headers are manufactured using step tube technology. These Long Tube Headers are constructed from free flowing CNC mandrel-bent 1-3/4" primary tubes that step up to 1-7/8" and then merge at a 3" collector. The collector features a power spike design for excellent exhaust flow. Pypes Long Tube Headers are then completed in a bright polished finish for impressive good looks.

Calibration Required. Installation of this Pypes Long Tube Catted Headers will require the use of a Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for operation. By reprogramming your Mustangs ECU you will be able to realize the full power potential that these headers have to offer.

No CARB Certification. These Headers are not CARB certified, therefore they are not legal for use in California or any other state adopting California emission standards. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only.

Application. These Pypes Long Tube Catted Headers are specifically designed to fit the 2015 to 2017 GT Mustangs equipped with the DOHC Coyote 5.0L V8 engine. These headers and connector pipes are a direct bolt on to the stock 2.5" exhaust system. These Headers are intended for left hand drive applications only.

Does this fit with the factory resonator? Basically, trying to keep my car to pass inspection still. Living in Texas. But wanna boost power, louder and get that deep, throaty sound. Thank you!

        • Your car should pass a TX state inspection without the stock resonator. Since it is not the primary muffler replacing it with an H or X pipe is the perfect solution. Plus, that stock resonator is going to hamper any gains you are looking for with installing the full length headers.

Will these connect to a cat-back like the AWE that have a 2.5 inch connection point?

        • Hey Eric, There is a stepdown pipe that would allow this system to connect to a 2.5" pipe

will this fit corsa extreme catback?

        • The Pypes 1-7/8 in. Long Tube Catted Headers will fit the Corsa Xtreme Cat-Back Exhaust. The 3" Cat-Back also includes step down flanges so it can beinstalled with the stock 2.5" exhaust. The Long tube catted headers will have a 3" Catted Connection Pipe which Steps Down to 2.5".

Will this fit with the MRT H-Pipe and Roush Axle-back on my mustang ? Since this requires a tune, what tune is recommended?

        • The Pypes 1-7/8 in. Long Tube Catted Headers will have no issues working with your Roush Axle-Back Exhaust. We do not carry MRT exhaust products, so we have not test fit these two together.

Is a tune required as soon as I install? Or can I run these without a tune until I get a handheld tuner? Thanks

        • The Pypes 1-7/8 in. Long Tube Catted Headers require a tune immediately after install.

            Great system

Kind of a tight fit, but that's expected with any long tubes. weird rattling/farting sound just under 1k rpms (trying to figure it out). The mid pipe doesn't fit well and the O2 sensors hit a bolt; however, I am very happy with the system. Incredibly loud especially above 4k rpms. Have gotten so many complements on the sound. Also good power gains when paired with resonator delete, performance CAI, and tune. Good bang for you buck. Did the install myself on jackstands, wasn't very hard.

            Quality Headers that pass K-member

Quality headers with pretty good welds. Not perfectly clean like some more expense headers but still nice. Fit was also straight forward. Hardest part is getting the 3 top bolt from the front towards back on passenger side. Will need an angled ratchet wrench and some one from bottom holding wrench on bolt. Also the A/C bolt for holding A/C line in place on lower passenger side wheel well may rub headers when accelerating or under load when turning. Some people repositioned the whole mount, I just shaved off about 5mm of the end by hand since headers when already installed and we were trying to figure out what the rattle was. Seems to be an issue with all long tube headers, not every set but a few.

            Not easy, but doable...

So the fit is tight at the passenger side cylinder head when it comes to access. I had to hand tighten the passenger side engine to chassis mount with a stubby wrench about an eighth of a turn each time. Driver side was EASY. passenger side... obviously a little more challenging. Remove the strut tower brace, the upper "K" brace, the battery and its' tray, and the isolation panel... then get to work. Be patient. You can do it. I did it. In my garage with hand tools and jack stands. Welds are good best I can tell. Clearance was fine once installed. But let me tell you, if you already have a LOUD catback, this will make it almost like a race car anywhere above 2k RPMs. I'm honestly ordering the Borla Muffler mid-pipe because the ATAK is gonna get me tickets for sure.

            They are okay

I installed these on my 2017 Mustang GT. They did indeed help improve my mustang performance quite a bit, but the downside? Well the gaskets they include are cheaply made steel pressed again what seems like black foam and after 3 days of running they burned out on my car, forcing me to purchase some new header gaskets that were MLS not cheaply made stuff. The header bolts also never seemed to tighten down and settle because I tightened them to the manufactures specifications and to account for copper anti-seize and yet for the past two weeks I have constantly had to tighten them down after a couple heat cycles. I definitely wouldn’t recommend waiting 200-300 miles as you will probably end up missing a bolt if you do. Pro tip: If you plan on buying these headers purchase an extra set of studs or locking bolts and a pair of MLS gaskets as the stuff included with these headers is not the best of quality.

            Great sound, with figment issue

I love how they sound and the power gains, but when the shop was installing, the passenger side mid pipe was hitting the one of the bolts to the frame. What they had to do was Plug the 02 sensor and move it about 5 inches away to where it cleared the bolt. Other then that, everything else is good. Took 4 hours for shoo to install.

            Incredible sound

I had a trusted shop do the install, I purchased these and paired them with the Roush axleback and h pipe with the Lund racing tune and n gauge. Throttle response is perfect, not a single issue with the setup, and these are LOUD in every gear, but absolutely no drone on the highway. 1st and 2nd gear pull much harder, car absolutely rips! Highly recommend getting these!

            Great sound and power

I used a lift when I did my install. Talk me 8 hours from start to finish running into no issues, and didn't take any breaks. Install went well, it's just hard due to working in a tight space. The rear o2 extension pig tails did not line up/work with my oem harness, but the front 2 o2 extensions worked fine. Overall good product. Only bad thing is that the o2 extensions did not work! Well worth all the work!

            Let your stang breathe!

Came undamaged and well packaged. Dropped off at a performance shop and had the car back the same day. Loaded Bama's Ghost Cam tune with it. Sounds incredible. Only complaint is the passenger side headers rattle against the motor mount stud. Currently trying to solve that small issue. Definitely feel the power!

            Big Gains

The figment on the headers was perfect. The mid pipe almost perfect. I can really feel the power gains especially after the tune. The car is much louder now. I would reccomend these to anyone.

            Very loud

These long tube headers are what you really want. They are aggressive and demanding you to step on the gas. Absolutely love them.
