How is the sound? I'm thinking of buying this h-pipe but I can't decide. I want a loud exhaust note but I don't want it to be raspy. I think the x-pipe would make my flowmaster 10 series too raspy, would the h-pipe be better? Thanks!

    chevyeater

    • The h-pipes are known to give off a deeper, more classic muscle car sound while x-pipes tend to give off a raspy, more exotic high pitched note. If you want a loud and deep exhaust note, go with the off road h-pipe...you won't be disappointed. It will definitely be a better match to your flowmaster 10's.

Is there any reason why this should not fit a 2003 Mach 1. I was under the impression the mid-pipes for the GTs and Mach1s were the same. Thanks.

    Ryan

    • You are correct! They are the same. You shouldn't have any issues fitting this to a Mach 1

Can you still reuse your O2 sensors on this midpipe?

    warewolf39

    • You should definitely be able to reuse your factory 02 sensors with this midpipe. However, because the cat's are gone you will need to purchase a set of mil eliminators to go in line with the rear O2 sensors in order to avoid the check engine light.

I have a 2003 GT with flowmaster 44s on it when i bought the car. Im assuming their welded. Everything else is stock, people says It's direct bolt on, would this work with those flowmaster mufflers? Also people say I can't take it to a shop as it is removing the CATS, and they wont touch that, so would I need to do welding? I live SC with no emission laws. Thanks.

    CharlieP

    • The Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe will work with Flowmaster 44s. I would recommend contacting a local shop directly to see if they are willing to do the job. However, no welding is required.

What bolts will I need from the hardware store so I can buy them in advance and any tips on how to not get any leaks ?

    EnriqueR

    • The Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe does not require any additional bolts. To avoid leaks just ensure your clamps are tight and there are no loose connections.

i know this is from 99 to 04 years mustangs but will this fit 96 to 98 cobras ? i think mil will need extensions and hanger will need to be re located to fit ?

    E

    • This Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe will not fit 96-98 Cobras. The piping is actually routed a little differently so the 99-04 exhausts would not fit your Cobra. We would recommend the BBK Off-Road H-Pipe, item 386981, which is specifically designed for the Cobras. https://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-or-hpipe-9698cobra.html

I installed this bad boy in about an hour... Then started it up... I think the world may have stopped during that initial start, the. Heavens may have sang, and the ocean roared to match the note that emanated from the 4.6L ford engine. Zeus came down from his throne, just to shake my hand. Pypes Off-Road H Pipe

So i replaced my stock exhaust with the Pypes O/R H Pipe with Violator Mufflers and i have never heard another mustang with this sound, it tops all my friends stangs with flowmaster 10 and 40 series and there x pipes. The throaty rumble this exhaust puts out has earned itself a perfect 5 star, although it does have a quiet idle once you step on the gas its no longer quiet i recommend this exhaust to everyone who likes the old muscle car rumble, thanks AM for an amazing investment

Great sound, few snags in the install

The finished product sounds amazing, nice deep rumble. The difference from the stock pipes to these is night and day. The reason it took me all day to install is because one of the O2 sensor holes on the pipes had not been threaded. It caused a massive headache for me and my friend, had to find a muffle shop that was open and able to fix the problem. Kind of shows badly on quality control for Pypes but still sounds amazing.

Stock 2001 GT w/ Pypes off road h pipe

I ordered this off-road h pipe a week ago and received it a few days later. I had a local exhaust shop put it on which came out to 79.50, not bad. This H-pipe sounds so much better than the stock h pipe! When you start the car up it is noticeably louder and deeper. I still have the stock mufflers on but will be putting super 44s on soon. It is decently quiet below 2k Rpms but after that it gets pregesssivly louder and sounds amazing. Puts a smile on my face everytime. Pretty loud so you will turn heads no problem! If you still have that stock h pipe, get this and you will be very happy garunteed.

      Pypes off road H

Everything about this H pipe is great. Getting old H pipe off is worst thing about the install. If I hadn't had to soak my bolts and wait, install would have been an hour. Only drawback I could find is that there are no bolts sent to attach the new H pipe to the mufflers. ?? Quick trip to the hardware store fixed this but you'd think they would be included. Car sounds great, nice rumble. Thanks AM!

      Just what i was expected

I opted for the H-pipe over the X-pipe, and I'm very satisfied with my decision! My stang has opened up! I love the growl at 2200-2500 RPMs. Just the sound I was looking for.

      great sound!

Great sound and awesome fitment on 03 mustang gt with a cobra swap. Only thing wasnt a fan of were the clamps. There's minor exhaust leaks which aren't all that noticeable but are there. Sound even better with the flowmaster super 10.

      Amazing!!!!

This H pipe is hands down amazing. Paired with the Flowmaster American Thunder catback system, there is no better sound. I get compliments everywhere I go on the sound. Don't waste your money on a X pipe, this thing is Bada$$. Thank you American Muscle!

Pypes H pipe with Borla mufflers

I had many people tell me to go with Bassani. I started lokking at the Pypes on here and reading the feedback. I had a friend with a lift install them on my 2000 Saleen SC and it took about 30-45 minutes. I was anxious to hear how it was going to sound with the Borla mufflers because I've always been a Flowmaster person. The sound it great! Its not to loud but just right. It is a deep muscle car sound and I couldnt be happier. The install was a walk in the park and as stated above, the car sounds great. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone. If you have a Saleen with the Borla mufflers than forget Bassani and go with the Pypes! Don't forget the mil sensors. I hope this helps!

      Pypes O/R H-pipe

great product and good price. (I still have stock mufflers) little louder rumble at idle, hit the throttle it sounds amazing, now my car sounds like a muscle car should sound. Noticeable torque gain. Getting the stock h-pipe off was kind of a pain ain't getting the passenger side off with out a swivel and a extension but after that the install was fairly easy. would have had the whole thing done in about 2 to 3 hours but had to run to the parts store and get longer bolts to bolt to the catback exhaust. If your lookin for that classic muscle car rumble this H-pipe is what you want.

      Great Kit

Fits ok, looks good, Sounds awesom, I was happy I went with the H instead of the X. Only wish it included the required bolts to clamp to existing exhaust, and a new gasket for the passenger side. But overall great product !

      Love the sound

Installation was a breeze. I was able to reuse the factory gasket but as others have said, the original hardware for the rear couplings is too short because of the bell being larger than needed for Catt back piping. I purchased 3/8 by 3,1/2 inch bolts and the rest was history!

Great roar ! Will turn heads

Bought his h pipe for that Deep roar , and was not disappointed ! However during installation the 2.5 inch bolts that hold the h pipe to the mufflers did not reach so I had to go to lowes and buy 4 new 3 inch ones so they can fit . They worked out great

      That perfect exhaust note !

This exhaust is exactly what you want. The x pipe is to raspy and annoying but this h pipe gives you the perfect note. Nice deep rumble with no raspy high end noise. I would recomend this exhasut to anyone looking to free up some extra HP ! I did feel a mid range gain with this mid pipe.
