Ask a Question

I want to know if I can change the mufflers to super 44 flow master with this set?

ramos

  • These Pypes True Dual Off-Road Exhaust with Black Tips can have the mufflers removed, so as long as the new mufflers have the same dimensions, this would be possible, but it could require some DIY for a 100% fit.

Will this be at all street legal and would a professional company install it?

Mustangnerd98

  • No, this is not street legal because it does not have catalytic converters. I would ask around to see what shop would be best to install this exhaust.

Ok so I'm new to buying a whole kit like this and was wondering do you need anything else to connect these to the mustang or will it just bolt on to the stock headers?

Francisco22

  • You do not need to buy any other parts in order to install this Exhaust Kit. Though, you may need to do some cutting in order to have a proper installation. Also, you may need the SR Performance O2 Sensor Extension Kit - Pair (86-09 All), item # 56013, (http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-o2-extension-harnesses.html) because the placement of the O2 Sensors changed. If you follow the link below, it will take you to the installation guide for this Kit. http://1.cdn.lib.americanmuscle.com/files/sfm52-53-55-56-instructions.pdf

I bought this exhaust two years ago and I have loved it, I was just wondering what would be the best set of long tube headers that would work for these and would I still need to purchase a new mid pipe or anything like that?

fordfanatic1989

  • In order to have long tube headers, you will need to take off the flow tubes that connect to the X-Pipe. Depending on the headers, you may need to cut and weld the pieces together. You should look for headers that are a 2.5" tubing. Some headers will say they only match their own mid pipe. If you decide to go that route, you will definitely have to do some modifications to install them. As for the best one, anything ceramic coated will be perfect. Ceramic coated headers will disperse heat soak 10x better than non-coated. A lot of power is lost because of heat soak.

The exhaust looks and sounds amazing!. It's a very tight fit though for lowered cars and may need some heat sheild tape in certain areas to avoid any rattling depending on who installs it.. Has a very low loping tone and cracks loud past 2.5-3k rpms and gurgles down.. If that makes sense :)

Why i feel sorta conflicted about these

This exhaust system first of all it is incredibly awesome from the black tips to the loud mufflers this is worth 500$ but i paid 694 and it dosemt come with caddilic converters so you have to buy high flow cats or you should anyways. And if you do that its gonna cost around a 1000 $ for both and if you wanna actuallu use this sytem correctly and be street legal you have to buy a cut out kit which is about 400$ and if u just wanna buy this system without paying 1400$ you cant use the x-pipe or the pipes removthat e your catalytic converters but i will say these sound better than my friends 2003 v8 mustang

    Great overall buy

First I'd like to say if you've never put an exhaust on before then save yourself the headache and have it done professionally. After a lot of struggling and cursing I got it on myself but I wouldn't want to do that again. The tubing was difficult to put together which I'm sure is how it's supposed to be. My rubber mallet came in handy there. Also the hangars had gotten bent during transport so those needed to be bent a little for clearance of some fuel lines. The exhaust itself though is great. The sound is AMAZING. Its a nice throaty growl at idle but once you hit the power band at 3k rpm it sounds like there's no mufflers at all which I personally enjoy. The black tips are a nice touch that I couldn't find anywhere else. Looks great on my white mustang. All in all, buy it; get it installed; and enjoy that smile every time you put your foot to the floor.
