Improves Geometry For Racing. This QA1 Racing K-Member has specifically been designed to improve the bump steer, anti-drive and Ackerman angles for maximum performance. This k-member will change your Mustangs stance by moving the front wheels 2" forward to a performance race stance. Because of this fenders and/or fender wells may need to be modified.

Bolt-In Design With Increased Clearance. By digitally indexing all the mounting points from a stock Ford Mustang K-member, this QA1 K-member was designed as a direct bolt-on racing suspension part. The QA1 k-member features increased clearance for both headers and oil pan for easier installation and maintenance.

Tubular Weight Saving Construction. Constructed from DOM Tubular Mild Steel this QA1 race k-memeber is up to 28 lbs. lighter than the stock K-member and features increased strength and rigidity by design.

Application. This QA1 Tubular Racing K-Member was designed to fit the 1979 to 1995 Mustangs equipped with the 5.0L V8 engine, including the LX 5.0, GT and SVT Cobra. Intended for off road drag race use only.Technical Note. Factory or aftermarket A-arms can be used but for best results, it is highly recommended to combine this K-member with a QA1 control arm.

Are Off-set rack bushings required or recommended for this?

  • The QA1 Tubular K-Member will not require offset rack bushings by itself, hoever, based on ride height, this may be required to correct the angle of the tie rods.

If I do just the k member and keep the stock a arms, will I need to switch over to coil overs or am I still able to put the stock springs/suspension on???

  • You will not need to switch over to a coilover suspension and you will be able to keep the stock suspension when using this K-member.

will this work on '85 convertible? Want to up grade but know that convertibles are set up different, I have a '85 5.0, 5 speed. thank you Jason

  • The QA1 k- member will fit your car with the matching tubular a-arms and bushings, etc.. The convertibles just came with a stiffer motor mount that Ford was using to cut down on road noise. A set of polyurethane motor mounts will be nice to add and a set of sub frame connectors to keep the car rigid if you can afford to do so or maybe you already have..

how does this k member compare to maxamum motor sports is qa1 usa made I am building a 302 convertable car fir the street and road racing . is a k member a good place ? i am looking at converting rear to a third member

  • QA1 is American made. I own this K-member and after some initial issues have gotten it ironed out and is a nice fit. I'm not sure if the K-member is really a good upgrade for road racing but i know it cant hurt either beware that you will need to relocate your front sway bar though esp if you are road racing with this K-member

    a arms

I installed this with motor out so it was a very fast swap. The fine print states that you can use factory a arms. They will bolt up however with this k member the factory A-arms will move your wheels at least 2 inches forward due to the fact that QA1 moves the rear A-arm mount out to give clearance for headers and aftermarket oil pans. There is no way to correct this without buying QA1 aftermarket A-arms. That being said the k-member itself is well built and I would recommend it just beware trying to use factory A-arms.
