    Review & Install Video

The Raxiom HID upgrade kit is available for any 2008 or newer Mustang owner who has factory HIDs but is looking to pick up a brighter, crispier output that actually kind of has a blue hue to it. These are a pretty affordable version as well, just north of the hundred dollar mark, which isn't very common for aftermarket HIDs. The installation, as you can imagine, is as easy as changing a light bulb, so expect one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. The S550s equipped with factory HIDs do offer pretty decent lighting outputs, which is whiter than most factory bulbs. But like most things, there's always room for improvement. The factory bulbs have a color temperature of 4300K which is a pure white light, but you could always pick up a more attractive lighting that pushes the illumination a step farther for more sight lines at night. These Raxiom lights are rated at 6000K which is a brighter white with a hint of blue, giving them one of the more popular choices on the market. Now these are DS3 bulbs which are rated for 2,000 hours of continuous use, a little bit more than the factory ones which are DSRs. The difference being that DSRs have a thin overlay on the bulb which dims the light slightly, preventing maximum output. These are made to be brighter and the DS3 versions don't have any restrictions. They incorporate a flicker-free technology which is pretty self explanatory, but it basically means the light stays on without that annoying flicker you can sometimes get with aftermarket lights. These stay completely stationary and completely lit while the lights are on, and they're backed with Raxiom's three year warranty. You could pick up a pair for yourself for just over a hundred bucks, which in my opinion is a pretty good price considering most HIDs can cost a fortune. Not only are you getting a direct fit replacement, but they're safer and more reliable upgrades as well. Keep in mind that this only works for Mustangs that came with HIDs from the factory. If you've got halogens, you need to find an HID conversion kit before you can pick these up or they won't work by themselves. The installation is a no-brainer after all, so expect to be done in about 30 minutes in the driveway at home. You'll have to remove the front bumper to pull the headlights out in order to swap out the bulbs, but it's not too difficult so I will be still giving this one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. You wanna have a ratchet and basic socket set on deck, as well as a flat head screwdriver. You need to pop open you hood and remove the pushpins holding the radiator shroud on top and then a few bolts holding the bumper to the bumper support. There's a few pushpins in the front wheel wells that need to be removed, and then of course unplug the harness and pull the bumper off. From here, just unbolt the headlights and remove them from the positions, twist out and unplug the bulbs to swap them out for the 6000 case from Raxiom. Bolt the headlights back in, repeat for the opposite headlight. Put the bumper back on the vehicle after reconnecting the harnesses. Then you're good to go.Well that wraps up this overview and installation. So if you're the owner of a 2008 or newer Mustang with factory HIDs, you might wanna check out the Raxiom 6000K HID upgrade kit for your bulbs. And you can find them right here at americanmuscle.com.

High Intensity Light. If you purchased your Mustang with the optional HID headlights or if your Mustang came stock already HID equipped, then you know finding a great replacement bulb at a decent price can be hard to come by. Search no more as Raxiom now offers a set of two high quality HID Upgrade Bulbs at a price point you can't turn down. With no flicker technology and a brilliant white light, this pair of Raxiom HID Bulbs is a no brainer upgrade for any 2010-2018 Mustang equipped with Factory HID Headlights.

HID Bulb Replacement. These Raxiom HID Bulbs produce a brilliant 6000K light, delivering a crisp, clean white light. There is a slight hue of blue and it's one of the most popular HID colors on the market. These D3S bulbs are rated at 2,000 hours of continuous use.

Easy Installation. Engineered to be a direct replacement for the factory bulbs, these HID Upgrades feature a plug and play design for a simple, hassle free installation. Not only are they easy to install, they feature a flicker free technology. Nothing is more annoying than having your beam of light bouncing around as you drive down the road. Upgrade with these Raxiom HID bulbs and you'll have a bright, white stationary light to cut the darkness.

Application. This pair of 6000K Raxiom HID Bulbs is specifically designed for use in 2010-2018 Mustangs that are equipped with factory HID headlights. Not compatible with halogen lights.

Please Note. This set of HID bulbs cannot be used as a halogen conversion, as ballasts are not included. If you have halogen headlights, you'll need to purchase an HID Kit to convert from halogen to HID.

On the car manual it s a d3r repacement for HID. Here its d3s. Its the same think??

    patriotu

    • Hello! The D3S and D3R are the same. D3R's have an have an opaque shield covering specific portions of the bulb making them a few hundred lumens less bright than the D3S.

I wanna install this by myself, can you upload a video and show how to install?

    MingpengF

    • Thank you for your question about the Raxiom HID Bulb Upgrade - 6000K - Pair (08-17 w/ Factory HID). Currently we do not have a video for installation, however, these are factory replacement so there is no special process for replacing the existing bulb. You will likely be able to find a video for replacing the bulb with an internet search.

when I bought my 2012 mustang gt it came with the raxiom head lights, one of the bulbs went out so im trying to find replacements, will these bulbs work for those lights or do I need an other type of bulb.?

    AaronS

    • The Raxiom HID Bulb Upgrade is designed to replace the OEM HID bulbs. If you have factory HIDs, these will replace them, otherwise a halogen or LED bulbs of the same type as what is in your current lamp would need to be used.

Have a 2016 GT convertible with speed form light covers. Will these 6000K bulbs help with light shining though the covers for a little better seeing at night.

    JimF

    • The Raxiom HID Bulb Upgrade will be brighter than the factory HIDs and provide you with better visibility through the SpeedForm Light Covers.

Would this Fit a 2012 Shelby GT500 headlights, the headlights are factory

    Steezydbricks

    • As long as your 2012 Shelby GT500 was was equipped with factory HID's, this upgrade will work. If your Mustang came equipped with standard bulbs, this upgrade will not work with your vehicle.

Would this bulb fit any HID no matter the year. Say I went and got an after market HID headlight kit for a 06 mustang, would this bulb work.

    JacobT

    • This is specifically designed for the factory HID headlights, so we wouldn't be able to comment on the compatibility or functionality of an aftermarket kit relative to this bulb.

      Fitmit/ brightness.

Ok these bulbs work very well and are very bright. Compared to the stock one that were in my 2008 gt/cs that came with stock HIDs. Only issue I had is that the passenger side headlight has a notch on the side by the fender just the same as the driver side has a notch on the side by nearest the fender. Only came to find out that these bulbs are missing one notch cut out on them. It's missing it literally on the side of the bulb that doesn't have a cut out. They fit my driver side perfect. So I took a pair of cutters and cut a notch on the other side of one bulb and installed it, IT WORKED PERFECT! So a very great product otherwise. Very bright and responsive, they turn on the first time I try to turn them on unlike the 10 year old ones that were in it.

      HID Lights

The bulbs are really amazing and much brighter over factory, only part that sucks is you gotta take off your bumper to be able to reach the bulbs. They also don’t come with kilps to hold in the electrical harness so idk if they want you to use the old ones but they’re not going anywhere anyway. Highly recommend.

      What a difference

Night and day visibility on the bulbs!!! I didn’t think that I would get a noticeable difference in brightness I was really going for the color to match the led swaps. But the install took about an hour and a half to get the headlamps out and the rest was plug and play. Would recommend a shop if you’re not used to taking apart the car but worth every penny.

      Hid project

These hid bulbs are a good bang for your buck. I actually had bought a different brand when I started my conversion project but when I saw these for about half the price and and a bit more brighter I thought I’d give them a try. I don’t regret my decision! I love how bright how much distance I get from them. I don’t even have to use my highs as much as I did with the conventional bulbs or the less bright hids I had brought before. The install was pretty straight forward. Didn’t take long.

      Brighter than stock

I have the black headlight tints installed on my mustang and if you are going to tint your headlights, you are going to need an upgraded bulb. This one definitely cuts through the tints but visibility is still low. However if you are looking for a brighter bulb go for this one, the one flaw I have with it is how hot it gets. I've heard that you need to be very careful when looking to upgrade your bulb because some of them are poorly made and can melt some of your headlight internals. This light gets hot but it has not caused any problems. Would recommend.

      Not good

Ordered my first set and one HID was a little dimmer than the other. Got a replacement sent "only one". And the replacement was like a factory color level not 6k. Ended up returning it all and bought a different brand. No issues with those

      True 6000k HID

Before I bought this pair I had bought another pair that was around 30$. Big mistake. These raxiom bulbs are true 35w 6000k bulbs with better than stock night visibility. They are a pain to install but I managed to do it without taking the front bumper off. Just jacked it up removed the wheel well and was able to access it pretty easily.

      Great... However

To be honest, I should have listened to the guy with the 09 GT500. The D3R and D3S are NOT the same. The difference is in the location of the notches to locate the bulb in the housings. Now, all I did was notch out where I needed, popped them in, and they are fantastic. Just not technically the correct bulbs. I've also notified AM about this error and it seems like they aren't going to update the description. Also the VinceV fellow who answered the question that these 2 bulbs are the same is wrong, trust me

These 6000K lights just give a whole new look to the car and paired with the raxiom switchback turn signals it's just amazing! Installation is a pain, had to remove the front bumper completely. I wish raxiom would have a solution to bring the tribar DRLs to 6000k type.

Wrong fitment for 2009 Mustang GT500

Super excited about this upgrade, but once I pulled OEM HID bulb out I saw that my bulb was a D3R bulb and this one is a D3S bulb. This will not fit your mustang.
