Review & Install Video
Hey guys, Alex from americanmuscle.com, and today I'm bringing you my quick review and breakdown of the smoked projector headlights with CCFL halos fitting the 2009 through 2014 F-150 without factory HID lighting. In this video, I'm going to talk about who these headlights are going to appeal to, the functionality and light output that you should be expecting, what it's going to cost to get into this set, and then what it's going to take to get these installed onto your truck. I'm going to be giving these a fairly easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and about an hour's worth of labor. I'll have a little bit more for you on that later.
So the smoked projector CCFL style halo headlights that I have here today should definitely appeal to a few different types of truck owners out there. First and foremost, in my opinion, it's going to be for someone that wants to get out of their old and faded style factory headlight and into something that's going to be that much more aggressive as well as throwing up to 40% more light than a standard factory incandescent bulb. So aside from giving your truck that much more improved light output, these headlights are going to be giving the front end of your vehicle that much more of a modern flair as these are going to come equipped with dual CCFL halos. In comparison to LEDs, these are going to be that much brighter and that much more modern looking as you're not gonna have the individual LEDs going around the periphery itself. Not only that, you will be getting away with a projector style which in my opinion is gonna mean another large focal point of this headlight setup.
Taking a look at the construction and materials, we're gonna see that the housing itself is gonna be a black chrome style which again is gonna appeal to that truck owner that's looking for a little bit more of a sleek and aggressive look as well as having a smoked lens. Now, something I would mention is that if you're concerned about the amount of light that's gonna break through that lens, I honestly wouldn't be because a projector will throw that much more lighting. Now, like I had said previously, one of the main points here is going to be the use of the CCFL halos which, again, in comparison to LEDs, are going to be that much brighter. But, it will carry a higher price tag as these are going to be a premium set of headlights in comparison to an LED style which I'll hit on a little bit more later.
Now, in terms of the pricing here, to get into this set you should expect to be spending about $650 bucks. And I know that may sound a little bit on the steep side, but again, you need to factor in the use of the CCFL technology here in comparison to an LED style halo. Not only that, you are getting away with a projector style low beam and accented lighting as well as having a smoked lens and a black housing. Again, it's just gonna be giving the front end of your truck that much more of a modern and aggressive flair in comparison to a factory replacement style headlight.
So switching gears to the installation portion of the video, just like I had said up top, you're looking at a very straightforward one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and about an hour's worth of labor to get these onto your truck. The ease of installation here should definitely be a huge selling point for any '09 through '14 truck owner out there as this is gonna be one of those instant type of satisfaction or gratification style mods. You're really not looking at anything to get these on aside from a basic socket set, a little bit of patience, and maybe a six-pack of beer.
So to start, you're gonna obviously want to crack your hood. Pull out your socket set here. You're only going to be removing three bolts from either headlight. It's going to be two up top right here, one down here. I will mention having pulled my own headlights before, if you haven't done this in a couple of years or ever, it can take a lot of force to
