Hey, what's going on, guys? Adam here with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I'm bringing you my detailed review of the Black LED Tail Lights fitting all '09 to '14 F-150s. So if you're the owner of an '09 to '14 F-150 and you're looking for a way to switch up the rear end look of your truck to a bolder, more aggressive look, then you might be interested in the Black LED Tail Lights I have here today. Now, we all know switching up the look of the F-150 can be as simple as just adding a new set of aftermarket tail lights.
Now, the ones I have here today, like I said, are the Black LED Tail Lights which have LED lights, black housing, and clear lenses. But if that's not the style you're looking for, we do have a bunch of other options on americanmuscle.com, such as the black smoked, the red smoked, red clear, chrome, and just plain smoked. Now, there are a lot of different options out there that can cater to different preferences and styles. Now, for the black LED options I have here today, if you're the type of truck owner looking to get a more aggressive look out of the rear of your truck but you don't fully want to go smoked, then you might be interested in the aggressive Black LED option like you see here.
So these LED options will not only replace the lenses, but completely replace your factory housing and your halogen bulbs with a new set of housing of your choice, obviously, and as well as a new, modern, all-over better LED option, giving you a brighter look, shining through even the darkest of lenses. Now, that is especially useful for the guys going with the smoked look but for this particular option you won't have to worry about that because you're just getting a black housing, giving the impression of a smoked look.
So the black option, as well as all the other housing options I mentioned earlier will share the same design and overall housing structure across the board. The electronics and lighting will stay the same, offering a brighter lighting and a longer lasting lifetime. As we all know, the LEDs are meant to last a lot longer than the standard halogens the truck comes with. Now, speaking of the housing, you'll notice there's two LED banks on top of each other, offering 12 LEDs each, for a total of 24, giving you maximum visibility. In between there's the white reverse light, utilizing the white reverse light bulb that comes stock in your factory housing. The rest of the housing offers reflectors just like your stock one would, while still maintaining the aftermarket housing option that you chose.
Now, the back of the housing offers a direct plug-and-play style connection, making it for a painless install directly into your vehicle's factory wiring harness. They also have resistors installed in them already so you don't have to worry about purchasing them separately to get the correct power to the lights. So in addition to the black ones and all the rest of the options that I talked about today, there are other options on the market. For a set of these you can expect to be spending about $300, but I will say that these I have here today definitely feel like an OEM set, all for a painless install, so there definitely is bang for your buck with these.
So the installation, like I mentioned, is extremely straightforward, something anybody can do in their driveway with a bit of time. The only tools you're gonna need are a ratchet and an eight-millimeter socket. So to kick things off, you can drop the tailgate and using that eight-millimeter socket and ratchet, you can remove the eight-millimeter bolts that hold on the tail lights from the inside of the bed. Once you get the bolts off, you can pull the tail lights away from the vehicle carefully and set them aside.
So once you get the factory lights out of the vehicle and set them aside, you can pick up the set of aftermarket LED lights of your choice that you have, take the connectors and plug them into your vehicle's wiring harness, and test the lights by turning them on to make sure all the LEDs work properly before continuing the installation.
Now once you make sure all the LEDs are working properly, you can pop the factory reverse light bulb into the housing and pop the whole housing into the vehicle, reinstall the eight-millimeter bolts, shut the tailgate, and you're good to go. So overall, from start to finish, you're looking at spending about a half an hour or so installing both tail lights, and I definitely give this a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, making it something anybody can do with a little bit of time in the driveway.
So just to quickly wrap things up, guys, if you're the owner of an '09 to '14 F-150 and you're looking to get your rear end a little more of an aggressive look without going smoked, but you want to upgrade the lighting overall, you might want to check out the Black LED Tail Lights available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
