Great for HOT weather
Yeah, there's quite a few people who cringe at the thought of putting ANYTHING in their ride - if it doesn't say it on the cap!!! :O
Then there's the OTHER guys! We live in hot places, like Arizona, Nevada or Texas ....
Our cars are WAY out of warranty....
AND we go to the strip, or the Autocross track - or sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic, in summer, with the A/C on max.
In these conditions, with some miles on the engine, your 5W20 will be about as effective as VINEGAR!
IT'S OK to put thicker than recommended oil in these conditions. In fact, it will help increase the life of your engine.
I either use this Red Line 10W50 - or Mobil 1 15W50...
At least in any V6 or 2V V8. (I DON'T know how thicker oils work in 2005-up with variable valve timing)
I've used Red Line for years, and recommend it!
