Looks great, easy install!
This was a straight forward installation. The wiring was a bit delicate, but if you take your time it will work out okay.Helpful (1)

Once I finally got the gauges installed they looked good but, the wires that are in the kit are entirely too thin. When splicing the inverter into the headlight switch it would not get a good connection due to the wires being so thin. Also the center gauge piece is too small and does not line up correctly.Helpful (0)

Take your time and mark where your gauges are pointing. It requires the smallest amount of trimming where you can't see.Helpful (3)

Reverse Glow Gauge Overlays-Review
The overlays look and work great, once you figured out how to install them over the OEM gauges, They do not install directly over the gauges , you have to maneuver them. . The problems I experienced were these, the overlays really should have a small square or dot or double sided tape to keep then in place and I unscrewed the screws holding the OEM face plates on ( you have to remove the left side to get at the nuts on the alternator gauge), I used the screws and scotch tape on the top and bottom edges to secure the overlays, the second problem was the instructions did not make it clear how to fit the left and right gauge overlays over the OEM gauges without taking the needles off first. I finally figured out that if you moved the overlay under the needle and pushed it as far towards the opposite edge you could get the overlay to clear the humpy part at the back of the needle . Otherwise it was worth the effort.Helpful (4)

Do these come with detailed instructions for installation? It doesn't look like much if any wiring is involved, just plug and play correct? Thank you!
Yes, an installation guide will be included upon the arrival of your package. As for the install, yes it is as straight forward as it seems, just unplug the old stuff and plug this right in. However professional recalibration of your Mustangs speedometer will be required as this overlay insert reads 140mph verses the factory gauge reading 85mph.
If you have a speedo only ranging to 85mph will these gauges work?
Hello! This White Face Reverse Glow Gauge Insert will work on 85mph speedometers looking to convert to 140mph as long as re-calibration of the speedometer is performed.
I have an 88 Mustang mclaren with the Speedo reading 85mph. Can the 140mph fit over the original one with no see through issues? I know I’ll recalibrate speedo but want to make sure it looks correct/right.
The White Face Reverse Glow Gauge Insert uses its own lighting for the reverse glow functionality, so no bleed through will be created. This will work flawlessly on 85mph speedometers looking to convert to 140mph, as long as re-calibration of the speedometer is performed.
do i need to change the colors of any of the bulbs for it to glow the right way?
You will not need to change any of the bulbs for the White Face Reverse Glow Gauge Insert to work properly.
I see the description said 87-89 mustang will this not fit a 90 mustang Gt
This particular version of the White Face Reverse Glow Gauge Insert will not fit a 90 GT. However, we do carry one that will here: http://www.americanmuscle.com/reverseglow-140mph-gauge-9093v8.html
The White Face Reverse Glow Gauge Insert - 140 MPH should fit your 1989 LX Mustang with a 5.0L. Since you already have a 140 MPH speedometer installed, you should not need to calibrate anything. The factory gauges on some Mustangs feature 85 MPH which would require calibration for the 140 MPH Insert.
I brought the speedo head to the speedo shop and he calibrated it for $100.00. Very happy with it, I couldn't find a stock 140 MPH for less than $150 on eBay or my local salvage yards.
These are very bright. My dad has them installed in his car and he uses them at about half brightness all the time. They also come with a dial so you can adjust the brightness independently of the brightness of the rest of the lights in the car. These will for sure be bright enough
