Justin: If you're the type of truck owner who does a fair amount of camping and are looking for an affordable bed-mounted solution then let me introduce you to the Rightline Gear Full-Size Truck Tent. Now this very popular option is designed to fit the 5 and a half foot bed in your '97 and newer F-150 but we do also offer them in longer bed sizes here on the site as well. Price point for this very popular option again, mid to high $100 level and the install as we'll show you in a little bit, gonna get a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, about an hour or less to set up for the first time but will be quicker the more you get to use this thing. Now truck bed camping is something that's become immensely popular as of late and it's a nice alternative to the conventional method of sleeping on the ground. Now when you're up in the air a little bit here, elevated off the ground, it'll be nice and dry, but you're also gonna be free from any possible critters that make their way into your tent or sleeping bag. Now materials here for the Rightline option are pretty much what you'd expect out of a tent, right? 68D polyester shell complete with tape seams, in addition to these polypropylene straps which ensure the tent itself not only stays in place at all times but also keeps you dry, thanks to inclusions like the rain shield here that we currently have installed. Also, other notable features with this tent do include the glow in the dark zipper pulls, convenient in the dark of course, in addition to the built-in lantern hook, internal pockets and my personal favorite part, the builtin skylights up top which not only allow fresh air to move in and out of the tent but also allow you guys to do some stargazing while laying in the bed. Now one thing I do want to point out is that the Rightline gear tent does feature a floorless design and that's pretty cool because it means you don't have to totally clear out all of your bed contents before assembling the tent for the first time. Now with that said, it wouldn't be a bad idea to utilize a tarp or maybe even an air mattress in the bed, in fact, Rightline does make a full-size mattress that you can find here on the site for right around 100 bucks, certainly gonna be the more comfortable way to roll. Now in addition to that, the Rightline Tent does make full use of the small 5 and a half foot bed by utilizing the tailgate folded down and comfortably sleeping two adults according to Rightline.I'm also really big fan of how this thing actually installs or covers the bed completely. As you can see, you're covering the rails on all four sides here, essentially making this thing as waterproof as it gets with the included rain shield in place. We did mention these poly straps earlier here on all sides and that's just gonna essentially mean this thing's not gonna blow away on you on those especially gusty nights. Making install a bit easier, guys will be the color-coded poles and pocket holes with this thing. Again, about an hour or less for the first time but this is one of those cases that it's certainly gonna get easier the more you do it. And to give you a better idea of how things are gonna go down, here's my buddy Andrew with a brief little walkthrough of the job.Andrew: All right, let's go ahead and get this tent onto the truck. First, we're gonna open it up. You'll actually see that the instructions are stitched into the bag which is pretty cool. So let's get all this stuff outta here. We're gonna untie these, open up our tent here. We're gonna take our poles out, we don't need them right now. And we're gonna take our fly outta here as well. Now we've got to find the front and the back and then we're gonna drape it over the whole bed of the truck. So this looks like the front. I can see the door, there it is right there. So I know I have my left and my rights. Gonna put this onto the corner over here and over here as well. All right, so once you have your tent laid out, you're gonna want to make sure that your label, the Rightline gear is right next to your bedside right here. Then I'm going to run this all the way up to the cab corner here. Do that on the other side as well. All right, so with the straps that we're gonna connect first are the forwardmost straps of the tent. They're gonna go right here underneath the bed. They're just gonna clip in and we're gonna tighten this up and we're gonna do that on both sides. All right, next we're gonna attach our rearmost straps. What we're gonna have to do is actually unzip our tent entrance. And we're going to take this yellow strap right here. We're going to lift gently up on our tailgate a little bit to drop that behind it and the rear bumper. I'm gonna go on the outside of the hinge, just like that. And you'll see it fall through right here. And we're gonna attach that to the bolt that secures our leaf spring. So here's your leaf spring right here, this long bolt with that end, we're just gonna slip the eye [SP] right over. Do that on both sides. All right, now we're gonna fix our A and B strap, starting with a B right here. You don't want to go too tight though, we want to make sure that that inner seam is running parallel with that bed rail. So let's get this loosened up into place here. Just snug it up on both sides. All right, next we're gonna tighten up our tailgate strap right underneath here. Then we're gonna attach our D shackle right here. We're gonna do that on both sides. So what we're gonna do now is run our poles through the tent itself. You can see I have the orange taped poles, there are two different size ones. So we're just worried about the orange taped ones right now, we're gonna run this all the way to the other side of the bed. I'm gonna get over there and help run it through. All right. I'm gonna push the rest of that through. And I'm gonna start the other one. All right, so you can see I have my orange pole here, we're gonna insert it into our pole pocket with that corresponding orange color. Let's go ahead and get this side in. I'm gonna get that side end over there as well. All right, then we can work on raising the tent and getting the other end into the pocket. So here we go. All right, this pole is inserted, let me get the other one in. This one came out a little bit.All right, now we're gonna go to the last pole in, we're gonna go right through this opening here, bring it over to the other side. Make sure it goes through that hole over there. And we're gonna put this in the pole pocket right here and then clip these to our pole. Do that on both sides. All right, so here's our rain fly, I'm gonna try to throw it over there. But the most important part is you're gonna want this strap and this label right here in the center. All right, so you're gonna want all three buckles right around there. I'm just gonna make sure this side doesn't fly off. Then we're just gonna buckle these up real quick. Then we can get this side on as well. You'll see it's a little loose, we'll take that slack out of there in a second. Just gonna do a little on this side and do a little on the other side.So that's gonna wrap up my install of the Rightline Gear Truck Tent. And for all things F-150, keep it here at americantrucks.com.
