Every F-150 owner out there cringes when their truck takes an unexpected hit. Fortunately Rough Country offers a Bull Bar that can help protect your investment from the occasional bang or bruise. The Rough Country Bull Bar in black fitting all '11 to '18 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost F-150s is perfect for the F-150 owner that's looking to add some aggressive off-road protection to the front end of their truck for a reasonable price. This bull bar is manufactured out of a 3-inch diameter stainless steel tubing, sealed in a black powder coat finish that's not only going to hold up to the elements but a substantial impact that would otherwise damage your front lower grille as well. It also features a nice die cut RC logo right up front as well as some additional cube light mounting positions that would allow you to mount some cube lights to help light up the work site or the trails. This bull bar is also designed specifically for the EcoBoost because there's nothing up front to block the air flow to the air cooler. At just around the $200 mark, you really can't beat what you're getting here. It's really going to be a little bit more stout than some of the more cost effective options. Install for this is going to be super easy. All the mounting points are factory if you have tow hooks. If not, you will have to do some cutting to the lower front bumper, but regardless I'm going to give this bull bar a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Should take you under an hour to install. Tools required for this install are a 3/8 drive impact, ratchet, U-joint, 19 mm deep and short sockets, and a 15 mm socket. In order to install this bull bar we are going to need to get our tow hooks out of the way to make room for the bull bar mounting brackets. Now if your truck doesn't come with tow hooks, you will have to do some cutting on this plastic trim panel here to make room to get to the frame rail. But after that all the hardware you need is included to mount those brackets. Since our truck does have tow hooks we're going to reuse the factory hardware. So the first step to get our factory tow hooks out of the way is we're going to loosen this 15 mm bolt at the back here. Take note I only said loosen. Don't completely remove this. If you do there's a nut plate in here that can slide and in order to line that back up you're going to be removing your whole front bumper. So just loosen this, very crucial step.Next we're going to completely remove this 19 mm bolt here. That one you're okay to completely remove because the nut plate is held in place by the 15 mm bolt. Then we're going to go and do the same thing on the opposite side. With that tow hook out of the way the next step is to grab our bull bar mounting bracket. As you can see they are marked for each side right there. This is the passenger side, that's going to sit like this. Opening on a 90 degree angle towards the inside of the truck and then we can reinstall our 19 mm bolt. And do the same thing for the other side. The mounting brackets secured and in place, we can grab our bull bar and begin to bolt it down. And the order is going to be bolt, washer, then on the inside, another washer and then lastly the lock washer and the nut. With our bull bar starting to take shape, the last step is to seat it in the proper spot and tighten down those nuts and bolts. And this is all going to be 19 mm. Lastly, if required the kit does come with some front mount license plate brackets and also some rubber grommets for LED cube lights. And that is going to do it for my review and install of the Rough Country Bull Bar in black fitting all '11 to '18 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost F-150s excluding Raptor. Thank you for watching. I'm Joe. And for all things F-150 keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
