Installation Instructions

Description Vent Gauge Pod (VentPod)
P/N: 1109-19C681-AA
Applications: 2009-12 Ford F-150

Important Notes:

This product was designed to fit into ANY of the four available vent positions in the 2009-12 Ford F-150.
No wiring or gauge-related information is included in this manual. Please refer to your gauge and vehicle
manufacturer’s recommendations before installing any gauge into your vehicle.
Due to gauge variability, you may need to cut and/or file along the parting line (raised edge) found on the
inside surface of the VentPod in order to achieve the desired fit between the VentPod and gauge (refer Step
#5 for additional details).

Carefully read the important safety precautions and warnings before proceeding:

Safety Requirements:

Appropriate disassembly, assembly methods and procedures are essential to ensure the personal safety of the individual performing the kit installation. Improper installation due to the failure to correctly follow these instructions could cause personal injury or death. Read each step of the installation manual carefully before starting the actual installation.

1. Always wear safety glasses for eye protection.
2. Place ignition switch in the OFF position.
3. Always apply the parking break when working on a vehicle.
4. Block the front and rear tire surface to prevent unexpected vehicle movement.
5. Operate the engine only in well-ventilated areas to avoid exposure to carbon monoxide.
6. Do not smoke or use flammable items near or around the fuel system.
7. Use chemicals and cleaners in well ventilated areas.
8. Batteries produce explosive gases, which can cause personal injury. Therefore, do not allow flames, sparks
or flammable substances to come near the battery.
9. Keep hands and any other objects away from the radiator fan blades.
10. Keep yourself and your clothing away from moving parts when the engine is running.
11. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can get caught in rotating parts or scratch surface finishes.
12. Perform this installation on a good clean level surface for maximum safety and with the engine turned off.

1. Carefully remove the factory air vent by placing fingers inside and pulling gently on the louvers.

NOTE: You will hear a loud “click” just before it pulls free from the dash. Do not be alarmed, it is just the release spring/mechanism.

2. The VentPod will reuse the factory trim ring/bezel which is secured to the stock vent with four locking tabs. To remove the bezel, CAREFULLY pry back on these tabs to release the locking feature.

3. Remove the louver assembly from the vent housing. The louvers will not be reused as they will be replaced by the VentPod.

4. Using a pair of side cutters, carefully snip around the perimeter to remove the honeycombed pattern located at the bottom of the vent housing. This will provide working clearance for the wiring and lines which will connect to the rear of the gauge.

5. Insert the gauge into the VentPod. The fit should be snug and secure.

NOTE: Due to the slight variation exhibited by different manufacturers’ gauges, the inner diameter of the VentPod may need to be carefully modified to reduce the overall press fit between the gauge and VentPod. A sharp razor or file can be used to remove material along the parting line to achieve a “perfect fit”.

6. Make all necessary connections to the gauge as per the gauge manufacturer’s recommendations.

7. Orient the gauge such that the alignment slot in the housing is located at the 6 o’clock position and install the VentPod and gauge into the vent housing. The VentPod must be fully seated. Failure to do so will prevent the bezel from correctly engaging in the following step.

8. After locating and engaging the alignment tab on the bezel with the slot on the vent housing, carefully install and seat the bezel ensuring that all four tabs have locked into position.

9. Route all gauge connections (wiring, tubing, etc.) through the gap (located between the outer dash and the HVAC tubing). Final gauge connections will vary depending upon gauge manufacturer and type and will not be covered in this installation manual. Make all gauge hardware and vehicle connections as required as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.

NOTE: Make sure to leave enough slack in the gauge wiring and/or tubing to allow for the removal of the gauge if required at a later date.

10. Reinstall the complete vent assembly into the dash panel.

CONGRATULATIONS! You have successfully installed your VentPod. For those customers who intend to install multiple VentPods in their vehicles, repeat these steps for each individual vent.
