Review & Install Video
Hey, guys. I'm Alex from americanmuscle.com, and today I'm bringing you my quick overview and breakdown of the ShurTrax Max-Pax 300 Pound Truck Bed Weight Kit, fitting your 1997 through current F-150. So, in this video, I'm gonna give a quick overview of who this is going to appeal to, the construction and materials that you should be expecting from this kit, what you're gonna be spending on the kit, as well, and then, the installation, which we'll hit a little bit later. But, right off the bat, you're gonna be a looking at a solid 1 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter, and less than 15 minutes to get these into your truck.
So, as a 2014 F-150 owner that's typically running around town, or in the back country, with 2-wheel drive, I can definitely attest to the fact to my rear end not only being a little bit light and experiencing some wheel hop, but actually having a mind of its own. This can not only be disconcerting running around town or when you're running your truck in poor weather conditions, but it could be dangerous for not only you and others around you. So, not only would this kit be beneficial having in the bed of your truck year-round, but once the weather starts to change and the snow starts to fall, you're definitely gonna notice that your rear end is gonna be all over the place. Which, again, can be a little bit on the disconcerting side, unless you really enjoy having your rear end flying all over the place, which can be a little bit fun sometimes.
So, the guys over at ShurTrax definitely saw this void here and took the initiative to bring a product or a kit to market that's gonna give you that extra safety and security in the back of your truck, as well as for someone that doesn't want to head down to their local department store and pick up a truckload of stone, gravel, cement blocks, or anything like that, as it can not only be dangerous for your paint, but it can also cost you an arm and a leg just to fill it up. So, again, this is not only gonna be really critical for truck owners that don't have their bed typically filled with a bunch of gear, tools, or stone or concrete, for that matter, but for truck owners out there that do live in parts of the country where you're gonna be seeing poor weather and snow that much more often than not, that really need to have that extra weight, simply just to get around town and do what you have to do.
So, in terms of the construction and materials here, guys, we're gonna see that the team over at ShurTrax is gonna have these manufactured out of a polyurethane-type material. Additionally, it's going to feature a tough, woven mesh so that you're not gonna have to run into any issues with anything else in your bed coming into contact with these. Now, additionally, this kit, specifically, is gonna be the 300 pound kit, which means that you're gonna have 100 pounds of liquid per bag here, so that you can have an equal weight distribution in the rear of your truck to, again, ensure that you keep it on the ground, where it belongs, and not on a shoulder or off the road.
So, one of the things that I definitely like about this kit is that they're gonna feature a low-profile design. Additionally, when you're not using them, it's gonna be as simple as just draining them, and then folding them back up like this and throwing them under your seats. Now, the reason why I like that this is a low-profile design is gonna be that you can still utilize putting gear, wood, no matter what you're gonna be putting in and out of your bed, very safely and securely, but I would add that it's gonna be a decent idea to maybe just throw a piece of plywood on top, just to make sure that nothing else is coming into contact with them.
So, in terms of pricing here, you should except to be spending about 180 bucks for this kit, which, don't get me wrong, I know it's a little bit on the higher side, but run this in comparison to taking your truck down to your local hardware store or a landscaping place and getting your bed filled up with stone, concrete blocks, or what have you. And in the event you're not running a bed liner, this is not only going to trash the paint in your bed, but you're gonna have all that material rocking around. Now, for the easy use here, for having the ability to, essentially, fill these and drain them out will, I think they're worth their weight in gold, additionally, for having the added sense of security, putting extra weight on your rear wheels to keep you and your truck on the road where it belongs.
Switching gears to the installation portion of the video, even if we can call it that. Like I said in the beginning, you're looking at a solid 1 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter, and less than 15 minutes to get these into your truck. And the ease of install is definitely a huge selling point here, as there's really nothing to it. This is gonna come with the adapter right here that I have on the table. You're essentially gonna fill it and then tie these down to the back of your truck. I do wanna add that these aren't gonna come with any type of line, but they're gonna have holes right here. You can attach them to your recovery points in the back of your truck, or anywhere else you can find to tow these on.
All right, guys, so, just to wrap things up here, some final thoughts. I definitely like this option, first and foremost, from the safety point of view, as the rear of your truck definitely doesn't have that much weight it in. I guarantee you that from time to time, you probably notice that it does have a tendency to kind of slide out from underneath you. While that can be fun for some people, for most other drivers out there on the road, it's really not a great feeling. It's disconcerting and it doesn't really leave you feeling that safe. So, from a safety perspective, to have an extra 300 pounds in the back of your truck where it belongs, I honestly think these are worth their weight in gold.
All right, so, that's my quick review and breakdown for the ShurTrax Max-Pax 300 Pound Truck Bed Weight Kit, fitting your 1997 through current F-150, available right here at americanmuscle.com.
