Still visible? I love this look. Just wondering how much this tinting impacts the brake lamp visibility when brakes are applied...Drivers these days are bad enough without making our cars harder to see :) Thanks!

    • I asked this question of a friend following me on a bright sunny day and he indicated there was no mistaking that my brake lights were illuminated when I braked. I have decided to avoid tinting the center brake light with no affect to the overall appearance in my opinion. The lights look really great at night time

can you still wash your car like normal after installation of this tint?

    • Washing your car normally should have no negative effects on this tint as long as you're not normally using a power washer!

is there any way I can install this on top of the 2013 style taillight conversion decals?

    • If done very carefully and applied correctly this should be able to be applied over top of a previous decal.

Can this tint be easily removed? If installed and decided i didnt want it anymore, would i be able to easily remove it?

    • The answer to that is yes and no. If install the tint and instantly decide you do not like it and want to remove it, then yes. Super easy. As simple as pealing them off. But the tint will become more difficult to remove the longer it is on. However, it is not impossible. Some hot soapy water and some "Goo Gone" to remove the unwanted glue residue and it will come off with a little elbow work.

Is there a way to recondition this tint? I've had this applied for a couple of years now and the tint is beginning to look a bit faded/milky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    • At this time, we are unaware of any proven methods to repair/recondition the American Muscle Graphics Smoked Tail Light Tint. If the material has been faded, there is not much that can be done, however if there is dirt/debris built up, a good cleaner wax or spray detailer should remove this.

Its so nice..... if you can do it right!

I wrote a review a while ago sayings that yes it looks good but it wasn't easy to put on. I ended up ordering another pair and this time I had more success. I'll give you guys the steps I took to get it right just in case the AM instructions aren't clear enough. Remove the tint from both the adhesive and non adhesive sides of paper. Getting the paper side off is easy, but the adhesive paper is a little trickier. What I did was spray the back of it with the water soap mixture and peeled away. Unfortunately, the on the first one I tried to do this alone and it started sticking to itself. Get someone to hold the paper while you pull the tint off slowly, make sure you dont rip it. After you have the tint off, spray the tail light generously. Place it on their so it aligns and make sure you stretch it so that it is firmly on the curves as well. Squeegee away after all looks good. On the very edges I just started using my finger and it seemed to work fine. Thats pretty much it. Just make sure you take it off carefully and be patient!

Easier and better looking than I expected

Considered spray tint but didn't want to experiment on a $450 light. Read up on the tint films and wasn't impressed with the install headaches people described. Figured I'd try it since it would only be a $50.00 screw-up. I was pleasantly surprise. I removed the light from the car and did the install inside with everything at room temp. I use tint application solution from Advanced Auto Parts. Sprayed the light, my fingers, the adhesive side, and other side with generous amounts. Used cloth on squeegee, so no scratches. Ended up bubble free with no haze. Very, very happy with results.

      Not too dark, just right.

Be sure to have a lot of soapy water! Wasn't difficult to apply if you are patient with it and continually spray soap and water to the light and really take your time to work out the bubbles. Looks good during the day, definitely noticeable. However at night it really looks great! Would buy again.

      tail light tint

i ended up tearing my first one while pulling it off the paper, but still put on and used clear finger nail polish over tear. i learned off the first one to be very careful pulling off paper and just keep soaking both sides with ur soapy water and didnt tear the second one. after getting them on and lined up and squeegeed i used a hair dryer and kept using the squeegee too and mash the edges down while blowing with hair dryer. they lay down very good around edges of light from the heat of the dryer. i believe if i would have went ahead and ordered 2 sets i could have done perfect, but even the first set looks good enough to me and im very picky. worth the money and the look over stock if you just take ur time getting off paper and use hair dryer. also make sure its not very cold outside because it makes the tint more brittle.

Got these in today for my 2012 GT. Not much else to say but awsome. Fit was near perfect and installed easily. However I learned from the 3rd brake light that these included instructions are not very good. Using the soapy water worked perfectly.

      Very frustrating..

I ended up reordering the tint and had a "better" experience with it... it is very hard to install and since im a perfectionist, it is hard for me to ignore the bubbles and wrinkle in the film.. still not a precise cut but was able to make it work. From far away I LOVE it.. but up close.. not s much which is why i gave it 3 stars.. good luck to those of you who get this.. take you time!

      Not happy

I spent a good part of yesterday morning trying to get the tint on my tail lights. First of all, the instructions are too generic. Do I use soap in my solution or not? Does the graphic have paper on both sides or just one side? Are there "handling tabs" on the tint or not? I have close to a hundred little bubbles on the left side. I squeegeed to a point that I was starting to see fine scratches in the tint. I couldn't see where the squeegee was doing anything at all. Yes, I "liberally saturated" the tint. I tried poked numerous bubbles with a sewing needle. It helped a bit but still doesn't look very good. The right tail light has a faint but noticeable imprint of a partial "American Muscle" logo. It almost looks like a "paper watermark". I can't figure out where it came from. I did an amazing amount of prep work to get this right and I'm so disappointed. This AM is now 24 hours since the install. The job looks a bit better as the graphic cures but the logo imprint on the right side still bugs me.

Not sure where the logo imprint came from at all. I've never heard of that before. I'm sorry you had troubles installing the tail light tint, but I'm going to ship you out a replacement so you can try again and that will not have any type of logo imprint. Someone will be in contact with you for some helpful suggestions for installation!

      awesome till you get close

this add on really gives your car and awesome and aggressive touch. the only issue was the bubbles. they are really difficult to get out and frustrating so i just left them in. but it doesn't really matter because you cant see them unless you are up close. a great thing about them is even though they are dark and very aggressive, you can still see the lights. very awesome add on!

      2010 Mustang GT tailight tint

Not recommended; I could not get the multiple bubbles out of the tint even though I followed the directions and tried 7-8 times to remove/re-install the tint it still had bubbles in the tint. It looks good from a distance but when you get close you can see all the bubbles.

      Maximum Bang for Buck

Okay, so would it be PERFECT to just have smoked lenses? Sure! But for very little money and even less time I have something that is 99% there. The cut of these vinyl pieces is THAT good. You typically have to be less than 3' from my lights to know that they are tint and not smoked lenses. Perfect amount of tint too, still get plenty of light. Breeze to install and they come with everything you'll need. My advice is to hit them with a blow dryer on low for a few minutes (NOT A HEAT GUN!!!) as they will likely come folded in shipping. Lay them flat on a table and warm them just slightly with the hair dryer to get them to lay flat. This will make your install much nicer.

      Tail Light Tint

I had ordered light tint for all the lights on my mustang except the foglights and headlights. Everything went on smoothly except these. They simply don't have enough tint to cover the light. I have OCD a little and like knowing that anything I do to my car is perfect. This product made me unhappy and has really been the only time that I have been unsatisfied with a product from American Muscle. I got taillight tint when I had my 2005 mustang and it went very smoothly mostly because it was three pieces, not one. t is very hard to put on being that anyway you try to put it on leaves a different spot untinted. From far away it looks great, but the closer you get the worse it looks. Be safe and have a window tinting place tint the taillights for you.

      Packaged inappropriately for consumer installation.

I bought Quarter, Side, 3rd brake light and these Tail light tints, and all were packaged correctly except the Tail light tints. Ironically, the other items cost less, however this proved to be the most difficult. I read the instructions, reread them, proceeded with the easiest (quarter tints) first, and then reread directions for each one. You only have one shot to install them 'right', so I'd rather be safe than sorry. To no avail, I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the Tail Light tints. They were on a flimsy paper and hard to get off. Once, I did get them off, they did not fit snug, were too flexible and created a horrible look. Again, this is in contrast to the others as they look great! To be honest, I am probably going to take my business elsewhere. I planned on buying a new hood, new rims/tires, new steering wheel and hood scoops from American Muscle, but may just go to a competitor and try their stuff out. I was really, REALLY bummed by this. Oh, I also bought a 'stang GT shirt and am happy with that item. Maybe, if AM took back the faulty item, refunded me money, or even gave me a credit for it, I would reconsider. I guess business in American just isn't the same.....shame.

I'm very sorry you were disappointed with the taillight tint. It should have installed as easily as the other light tints you received as they are all made from the same high quality vinyl. I'm glad you were happy with the other light tints, but we can definitely ship you out a replacement or refund your money. Just give us a call and we can get this taken care of for you!

      Not worth the money.

I had the taillight covers and those were great until one fell off. So I tried the tint instead, figuring since I tinted all the other windows through AM would be great. Biggest mistake is it comes in one large piece, makes putting it on almost impossible. After messing around for an hour on the one taillight, and having to reaaply countless times, the tint had stretched, making is useless to even try to apply the other side. Stick with the covers, which are darker, or just have them professionally tinted.
