Direct Bolt-on Replacement. Has your factory flexplate failed in your automatic Mustang? Then replace it with a brand new SR Performance Flexplate from AmericanMuscle. This direct bolt-on flexplate features a ring gear of 164 teeth, as well as a 8-bolt crank pattern.

Chromoly Steel Construction. This SR Performance Automatic Flexplate is constructed from cold-rolled chromoly steel and is 0.035" thicker than stock for extra strength and features a long lasting platinum finish that helps prevent the formation of rust.

SFI 29.1 Certified. If you're using this flexplate in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flexplates have been known to explode.

Application. The SR Performance Flex-plate is specifically designed to fit the 1999-Mid 2001 GT, 2003-2004 Mach 1, and 2011-2014 GT Mustangs with an automatic transmission and a eight bolt main crank.

Technical Note. This SR Performance Flexplate has an 8 bolt main that is found in the 1999-mid 01 Mustang GT's with production date ending on 06/01, 2003-2004 Mach 1's, and 2011-2014 GT's.

Please Note. Romeo built engines have 6 bolt cranks and Windsor built engines have 8 bolt cranks. If the 8th character in the VIN is an "X" its a Windsor block, if the 8th character in the VIN is a "W" it is a Romeo block. If unsure please check with your Ford dealer to determine if you have a 6 or an 8 bolt main.

      Flexplate broke after 300 miles

I don't think this flexplate is made for 'high performance'. I'm at about 570 horsepower at the flexplate, and the flexplate tore around the bolt holes. Lesson learned: don't go cheap.

      8 bolt flex plate

Great flex plate for the money! I needed a 8 bolt flex plate to replace my 6 bolt when I installed the new built crate motor for this mustang.

It's what I want but it's not a "Direct Blot On"

You will have to drill bigger holes for the Torque converter.

      8 bolt 4R70 Flywheel

Good thing I researched flywheel first as I fit the converter first and Had to drill/ream the converter holes for the 4R70 same as the rest of you. It is a price friendly part as long as you know to fit before trying to install trans.

Needs mods out of the box

I installed this in a 2001 Mustang GT, new motor w/forged 8 bolt crank. There are 2 torque converter bolt patterns on the Mustangs. One is 10.65" , and the other is 11.44 inches. It fits the crankshaft just fine. This flex plate has a 10.5" pattern which will NOT fit a 10.65" pattern converter. I was able to make it work with the assistance of my Dremel. I did call AM and let them know, so hopefully they can have their vendor make it so it fits the 10.65" converters with no modification. Also, I knew in advance that there might be the converter pattern issue BEFORE installation, so I was not forced to try and install the motor and pull it out again. Other than that, good, beefy product.

      Awesome product

I bought this to add more strength and there is def a big difference between stock and this one love it. One less thing I have to worry bout breaking now.
