  • Hello! For this Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter T-5/T-45 I would contact Steeda directly and give them the MPN # 555-7353. They should be able to assist you in replacement parts or and idea of how to fix it.

What are the specs on the bolts that this comes with? I ordered this but was unfortunately missing one of the bolts and need to pick it up as soon as possible.

  • The bolts that hold the Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter to the transmission are going to be m8 x 1.25 by 25mm long stainless steel bolts which are slightly longer than factory.

Do you need to buy another shift knob ?

  • This shifter will keep the stock thread pitch and you can use your stock knob!

Is there any way I can just get the throw shifter not the handle that comes with it I'm thinking put a larger Hurst handle shifter so I don't want the handle probably save some money $$

  • Unfortunately the Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter is only available as a complete shifter and handle assembly as this is how we receive them from Steeda. Steeda may be able to offer this to you without the handle.

Will this work with a m5od transmission

  • Unfortunately, this Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter would only work with the T5 or T45 transmission. This shifter would not work with the M5OD transmission.

why does it not come with a gasket for the basil

  • Unfortunately, this kit does not come with the gasket for the base. You will need to purchase the SR Performance Shifter Base & Handle Gasket - T5/T45 & TR3650 (82-04 V8; 93-01 Cobra; 94-04 V6), item # 99011, (

    Great Shifter/Installation Tip

Just as everyone else says, this shifter is awesome! I bought my 98 Cobra used and it already had a Pro 5.0 shifter on it, but the Steeda Tri Ax is way better. The previous owner put way too much sealant on my shifter, so it was stuck to the transmission. I couldn't even get it off with a crow bar without damaging the trany. If you also have this problem, putting a 2x4 up against the side of the shifter and hitting the hell out of it with a hammer will get it off without damaging the transmission. I hope this helps!

    Quality Shifter

Can't go wrong with Steeda or American Muscle! Install is easy with basic hand tools. Ordered the base gasket and used the small stock rubber shifter cover before installing the large cover. Nice and quiet. Handle installed in lower position and stock knob fits perfect, looks stock but shifts so much better. Order it now!

Install was straightfoward and took an hour, great quality parts. Absolutely an improvement over the stock shifter, shifting is a breeze with the tri-ax, a must for any Mustang owner.

    A Great Upgrade

This shifter is one of the few things I've spent money on to upgrade where the stock piece was still functioning perfectly fine- and I can say it was well worth it. Shifts are firm and precise, no more missed gears, or fear of damaging the transmission from shifting too hard. Short throws are perfect for a performance car- Mustangs should have shifted this nicely from the factory. Makes the car a lot more fun to drive even when not driving fast. As with all Steeda products this is a well made piece, durable billet construction and a simple install as well. Well worth it.

    Shortest Throw of any Shifter

This is just is probably the shortest throw you can buy. Love how strong this shifter feels but the downside is the LOUD buzzing from the shift ball against the tranny. So get ready to throw down some dynamat to shut this thing up but as far as performance goes....this is sick.

For the race car driver in us all

I cannot even begin to imagine driving any manual transmission car without a short throw shifter in it after using this shifter. Shifts are firm, precise, and no more missing gears! One of my favorite mods to my stang!

A definite improvement from the sloppy stock shifter.

Overall, this is a really good product. Maybe not a Hurst, but it does the job. Shifts with this stick are crisp and short, not like the spongy feel of the stock shifter, so definitely worth the cost. I'd advise giving yourself just a "smidge" more daylight between the shifter lever and its stop bolts than the install instructions suggest. I've had the trans jump out of reverse a couple of times and might have to go back in to make those adjustments. I also doped the lock bolt/nut threads with thread locking compound just to be sure they stay put.

    Short throw

Outstanding low cost upgrade! AM made it easy with great reviews and easy order and delivery. Install was simple, and quick. Used liquid gasket and had no problems. This short throw shift is must! Now my 98 supercharged, after cooled Cobra shifts quicker and you will never miss 3rd again. Order you one now!

    Great Shifter!

I'm a complete amateur when it comes to installing anything, in fact this is the first thing I have ever installed in a car. I followed the included instructions as well as the ones posted on AM and it went smoothly. I love the shifter, it definitely has a work in period, after a 2 weeks, it is better than ever. Worth noting, I bought the 11 buck gasket as well, worked well for me, saved me the time and hassle of using silicone. Completely satisfied with the product, the shipping was very fast as well.

    Great Upgrade

I bought this shifter after reading all of the positive reviews. Its a great upgrade, well worth all of the money. It took about 30 minutes to install, the included directions were great. The throw is shorter, it feels firmer, and it goes into gear easily.

    Much nicer than STOCK!!

This is my second TRI-Ax with two different transmissions, first one was in an 02, 3650. I have had zero complaints about either one. It was not too bad to install, little less than an hour. But, my shifts are a lot closer together and much smoother now. the throw of the factory shifter is horrible. I used the gasket kit you can get from American Muscle when I did the swap. that thing was a bit like spaghetti, but ill review that too. The Shifter is well worth it, and should be in the list of mods to do FIRST on your stang! its adjustable so you can customize it to fit you and your driving style!! Don't wait, Order one today!!

    Awesome Shifter!

This shifter was money well spent! It took about a hour and a half to install and I'm very pleased with how this shifter feels. Never again will you miss third gear! Shifts are precise and have no play. I'm happy I chose steeda for a shifter!

    Quality product

This Steeda shifter just oozes with quality. Sure, it´s more expensive than some shifters but I´d say it´s worth the extra $. For T-5/T45 trannys, this is a direct bolt-on. No mods needed to lower shift boot or anyhing else. Did the install myself and I´m not the most handy guy out there. As for the installed product, I´d say it´s top notch. No more effort to change gears than stock shifter is needed and gear changes are exact with the right feel.

    Steeda Short Throw Shifter

The Steeda Short Throw Shifter has an excellent build quality and was easy and fun to install. The installation instructions were easy to follow and were well designed so that even the novice auto enthusiast could install this shifter. Now to the most important question, is there a difference from the stock shifter and was it worth the purchase price. Not only did I feel like I was driving a whole new and different car, I noticed not only the easy 2nd to 3rd shift with the assisted spring design, but 1st to 2nd provided the biggest change from stock. I like quick acceleration and often like to chirp the tires going from 1st to 2nd, however having only 327:1 gears and a sloppy OEM shifter, sometimes you lose the RPMs and aren't successful in getting it to chirp all the time. I would never bang the gears or power shift so you'll understand what I mean. With the Steeda shifter, the shifts are so close that you don't loose the power range, don't have to worry about damaging a shifter fork and I believe my car is actually faster as a result of the Steeda. Oh, and 410's are going in this Friday (FRPP). Big difference with the Steeda Short Throw shifter in comparison to stock! No comparison and highly recommended! Cobra
