      Product Videos

Hi everybody. I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com and this is my detailed overview of the Stainless Works added long tube headers with X-Pipe here available for your 5-liter equipped 2015 and newer F-150. This detailed overview is gonna cover my thoughts in some of the benefits of running a long tube header like this on your coyote-powered truck. We're also gonna talk about what kind of materials and construction you can expect when checking out the stainless works options. And then finally, we'll briefly gonna grease over the install.Right up front guys, this one is gonna be a knuckle busting three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter but nevertheless, we will have some more detail on that later on. In my opinion, the Stainless Works long tubes that we have in this video should appeal to the truck owners out there looking for a little bit more sound and a little bit more power out of their coyote-powered F-150 and would like to go with a really nice option like this here from a top company like Stainless Works. Now with that said, this is also gonna appeal to the truck owners who would prefer to stick with a cabin version as opposed to an off-road version and also for the truck owner who just really enjoys the sound of a long tube header in conjunction with the Stainless Works Cat-Back because that is important to point out. You can only use these headers here with the performance connect version of the Stainless Works Cat-Back exhaust system. So now that you know that, let's get a little further into these long tubes.First, I really wanna hit hard on the quality of materials and construction with the Stainless Works long tube because in my opinion, definitely gonna be one of the highlights when checking out this product. Stainless Works uses a material known as Everlast 304 grade stainless steel, definitely a premium material there. You're looking at a one and seven-eighth inch primary. We will touch a little bit more on that diameter in a minute. You're also looking at a three-eighth inch plunge here on the head side, 3-inch merged star collector at the very end here loaded with the merged spike. This is just some tech that header companies often times use to help increase exhaust scavaging and help keep velocities up. In addition to that, you're just looking at quality take well throughout. Everything is made in the USA, everything is backed by a lifetime warranty, but I just really wanna hit home guys that these are going to be a very nice header. And that's pretty evident in just about every set of stainless works headers I've ever handled. But again, this is their catted version. So, of course, included with the kit, you'll find two high flow cats also from stainless works in addition to their corresponding X-Pipe here in all 3-inch tubing, all that mandrel bent. And again, this is part of their performance connect system. The idea behind this performance connect thing is just to eliminate any neck down so you can get the most power, the most sound out of your setup. But it is also very important to point out guys that you have to use the performance long tubes here or the performance connect long tubes in conjunction with a corresponding performance connect Cat-Back. Stainless Works does offer a couple of different varieties for you to choose from and we do have those available here on the site. Now, if you're not a fan of this, maybe you don't like the Stainless Works Cat-Backs for whatever reason, it is worth pointing out that Stainless Works does offer a factory connect version of the same exact long tubes which will kind of incorporate this factory style wired pipe. And this is important to point out. Maybe you already have an aftermarket Cat-Back that you're in love with or maybe you just wanna use the long tube headers in conjunction with your factory exhaust system just to help to keep the overall sound levels down. Again, it is worth pointing out, we do have the factory connect version on the site if you do wanna check those out as well. But as promised, let's get back to that primary size a little bit here guys. With this particular long tube, again a one and seven-eighth inch diameter and again, that's gonna be this portion of the header here or each tube, one and seven-eighth inch in diameter. And I think you're gonna find some most common size available for the coyote-powered plant and for good reason. It's gonna be just fine for your mild bolt on build or NA builds but if you end up slapping a blower on your truck such as a Whipple or a TVS, you'll find that these things are really gonna come to life. So what does that mean for you guys when it comes time to talk about gains? Well, a long tube set up like this with a decent tune on your coyote-powered truck, anywhere from 20 to 30 wheel isn't out of the question. Again with this forced induction setups, expect similar gains maybe even a little bit more.Of course, we have to mention the radical change to your exhaust tone as well. With the long tube headers and that X-Pipe and your performance connect Cat-Back stainless works, it's gonna be loud guys so just be ready for that. However, if you do wanna keep the sound levels down, again check out that factory connect version we just talked about here. You can utilize your stock exhaust system, maybe even a more mild system. Sure it might cost you a couple of horsepower with that neck down but it is available if you want. But let's quickly talk about price and as you might imagine, this one is gonna be a sizable investment from the headers themselves down to the installation if you don't plan on doing this one on your own. You're looking at right around 1500 bucks for the Stainless Works long tubes and the corresponding X-Pipe here but you also have to factor in guys with that performance connect system, you're also gonna need that performance connect Cat-Back also from Stainless Works, so tuck on an extra 900 bucks or a thousand bucks on top of the headers. So obviously yes, a sizable investment but one that will change your truck in many different ways. As far as the install, well, like I mentioned earlier guys, this one is not gonna be fun so expect a full three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, a full day or more in the shop or garage, and definitely, you're gonna need a solid set of tools to help you get everything in place. There is a good amount of work involved here as you might imagine. But one thing I will say is that doing them in a truck is gonna be a lot easier than doing them in a Mustang. You have a lot more room to maneuver. There is definitely some bolts you can hit through the wheel wells. However, you still have to mess with those engine mounts to get these guys up and in. So we don't say this a whole lot here but if you're not comfortable with tackling this install, don't hesitate to give your local shop a call. Well, wrapping this one up, I really don't have a lot of negative things to say about the Stainless Works performance connect long tube headers. The premium build, the quality materials, lifetime warranty, all things you like to have on your side when you drop in big dough on a model like this. So that is my review of the Stainless Works long tube headers with the performance connect X-Pipe which you can find right here at americanmuscle.com.
