Review & Install Video
What's going on, guys? I'm Alex from AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my quick review and breakdown of the T-Rex Upper Class bumper mesh grille insert, fitting your 2015 through current 5-liter F150. So, in this video, I'm going to give you a quick idea of who this might appeal to, we're going to go over the construction and materials of this product, what you should expect to be spending, and then last but not least, we're going to talk about the installation. But, right off the bat, you're going to be looking at an incredibly easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You should have this on your truck in about one hour, tops.
So if you're the 2015 and newer F150 owner and you're not too thrilled with just how mundane the front end of your truck looks and you're looking to make a very bold yet aggressive statement, I would definitely suggest checking out this product as, for such a small and complete package, you're going to be getting a boatload of looks.
So this is something, in my opinion, that is definitely going to compliment the front end of your F150 nicely in the looks department, but you're actually going to be picking up a little bit of added protection from anything that you may come across, be it on or off road. Another thing that I like about this product is that, in the event that you may decide to swap out your upper grille down the road, this pattern's going to match pretty nicely with be it a polished or a black setup, so you're not going to have to worry about getting into T-Rex's upper grille, which can be a little bit on the pricier side. But I'll talk about why a little bit later.
So in terms of the construction and materials here, T-Rex has been around for quite some time and these guys definitely make a solid product. If you've ever seen one of these in person or felt them, you know that it's evident right out of the box that you're going to be getting away with a very well-built and constructed part for your truck.
So taking a closer look at the manufacturing process, T-Rex is going to be utilizing OEM CAD data directly from Ford to ensure that you're going to have a perfect fit on your truck. Additionally, this is going to be comprised from 304 stainless steel, which is going to feature a 12-gauge construction, as well as having a diamond pattern. Not only that, this is going to then be finished off in a black powder coated finish, which, in my opinion, is going to mesh really well with the OE trim of the F150, as well as looking nicely on either light- or dark-colored trucks, depending on where your build is going to be taking you.
So taking a quick look at the pricing here, you should expect to be spending right around $145 for this overlay, which, in my opinion, is going to be right in the middle of the road when it comes to grilles, but you're going to be getting away with a really well-built product that's going to make your front end look that much more aggressive, as well as protecting your investment from any type of debris that you may come across, be it on or off road. Additionally, the guys over at T-Rex are going to have this backed up by a three-year limited warranty in the event that anything might go wrong.
So taking a look into the installation here, just like I had said in the beginning of the video, you're going to be looking at a fairly easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and about an hour to get this onto your truck with some basic hand tools.
Now, the lower grilles are definitely going to be a great add-on, in my opinion, as the installation is literally a piece of cake. This is simply going to be an overlay, and the manufacturer is going to give you supplied hardware to get this onto your truck with, again, basic hand tools and a little bit of patience. All in all, you're looking at a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and about an hour to get this onto your F150.
All right, so just to wrap things up here, some final thoughts. I definitely like this product from T-Rex based on the fact that these guys make one of the best-built products out there for the F150. Additionally, you're going to be giving your front end a much-needed overhaul in terms of the looks department with a pretty aggressive setup here that's going to mesh very nicely with both dark- and light-colored trucks.
