All In One Kit. When upgrading the supercharger pulley on your Shelby GT500 for more power, VMP Tuning knows that you are going to need more than just the pulley itself to get the job done right. That is why VMP offers an all in one kit for a hassle free installation. Besides the all important 2.5" Supercharger Pulley, VMP also includes a 90MM Idler Pulley and their Ultimate Pulley Tool Installation & Removal Kit.

2.5" Supercharger Pulley. Increase the boost and the power of your Shelby GT500 by installing a VMP Tuning 2.50" Supercharger Pulley. A reduction of just 0.125" in pulley diameter will yield an increase of about 1 PSI in boost. VMP's 2.5 in. Supercharger Pulley will increase the boost of your GT500 by 3-4 PSI, when compared to the stock 3" pulley. VMP Tuning manufactures their Stock Look Pulley to OEM specifications from high-grade steel for strength and durability. VMP then completes their pulley in a black powder coated finish, which is identical to the original, so no one will ever notice your hidden performance upgrade.

90MM Idler Pulley. VMP includes their 90MM Idler Pulley to take up the excess belt slack that is created when installing a smaller diameter supercharger pulley. If this slack is not removed it will cause belt slippage which will actually rob you of the power you are trying to make. Engineered using the same size and brand of heavy-duty bearings as the factory idler, VMP's 90MM Idler Pulley eliminates the need for a double bearing design.

Removal and Installation Tool. VMP has made removing your old stock pulley and installing your new pulley easy by including their very own Ultimate Pulley Tool Installation & Removal Kit. VMP's Tool utilizes a clamshell design that clamps onto the pulley and holds it by the ribs, not the face. This unique clamshell design applies uniform force around the circumference of the pulley for easy damage free removal and installation. CNC-machined from solid billet aluminum, VMP's Ultimate Pulley Tool features fine threaded bolts, a D-3 bearing and grease to make operation a painless experience.

Required Upgrade. For proper operation and maximum power potential this VMP 2.5" Supercharger Pulley will require reprogramming the vehicles computer. AmericanMuscle recommends a custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

Application. This VMP Ultimate Pulley Tool with 2.5 in. Supercharger Pulley and 90MM Idler Pulley is specifically designed for use on the 2007 to 2012 Shelby GT500 Mustangs equipped with the stock 2.1L Eaton supercharger.

Does this kit use the factory belt size? If not, then what size would I need on a stock 2011 GT500?

  • This kit reuses the factory belt. It comes with a 90 mm idler pulley which will take up the slack when installing a smaller diameter supercharger pulley.

Is the 90 MM Idler literally just the pulley itself or does this kit come with the bracket and accessories to install the Pulley to the engine used for actual tightening of Belt slack.

  • The Kit comes with the Pulley 90MM Idler and Pulley Removal Tool. The Idler mounts in place of the Stock Idler, so no bracket is needed. This is preferable, as the Idlers that use a bracket, mount with the very small screws which thread into the block.

    Superior product !

    This is a superior kit that you just can't beat for the price point. I upgraded from the Steeda 2.65 pulley where I noticed slight belt slippage under heavy pulls. I haven't noticed any slippage since installing the VMP 2.5 with 90 MM idler. Removal and installation of the pulley was a breeze, took me less than 20 minutes (with a pneumatic gun) to swap out the Steeda for the VMP. The 90MM Idler also went on very easy, I removed the two screws for the coolant res which made things very easy. The first pulley swap I did with the Metco puller destroyed my stock pulley and had to be returned for quality issues. This kit removed my Steeda pulley without a scratch as it grabs the pulley ribs and not the back of the pulley. Great design, great construction, pulley tool comes in a very nice carrying case. Definitely would recommend this product.

    The Best GT500 Bang for the buck Mod!

    I upgraded from a 2.7" pulley to the 2.5" for about 1-2 psi more boost. If you are going from a 3" to the 2.5" you can expect 3-4 pounds of boost. 1-2 psi should be about 15-25 rwhp. 3-4 psi could be in the 40 rwhp range. If you do your research the Puller in this kit is the ONLY one that doesn't destroy your pulley when removing it. It grabs the belt ribs, completely around the whole pulley. The other pullers pull the pulley off from the back, which will make the pulley out of round and no longer usable.

    Great product with a small issue

    Overall this is a great product and really gives you "bang for your buck" more than almost any other mod. I highly recommend this to any GT500 owner! The only issue I had (and why this is not a 5 star rating) is that the threads on the larger bolt for the tool were slightly galled/deformed and I didn't realize this until I had already started to thread them into the aluminum puller block (rectangle). This messed up those aluminum threads and made the bolt very difficult to move in the bock. Still worked, just took more time/effort than it could have.
