    Review & Install Video

Hey everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my review of the Vogtland Sport lowering springs available for you 2005 to 2014 Mustang GT. A little backstory on Vogtland. They were actually started over 100 years ago by German Bernhard Vogtland in his garage where he designed springs for horse carriages and toys. Now fast forward nearly a century, and Vogtland has become one of the most trusted names in both aftermarket and OE spring applications and even supplies NASCAR and other racing outfits with some of their products. Now that you know a little more about the brand, let's talk about the S197 offering from Vogtland. Now the sport spring is going to be for the S197 owner out there who is not really looking to go super low with his or her ride. In fact, these things do offer a pretty conservative drop of roughly an inch and a quarter on all four corners, so enough to take care of some of that stock wheel gap, but it's not going to be low enough where you to have to worry about getting hung up on speed bumps or pulling into driveways. Again, these things are probably one the more conservative spring options on the market here at AM, so if you're looking to go low, you might want to look somewhere else. Instead, these are going to fall right in line with the Eibach Pro-Kit or maybe the Ford N-Springs here in regards to overall drop. Racingwise, you're going to find the Vogtlands to fall right in the middle of the road for the most part, with the popular SR options coming in on the low side, and options like the Steeda Springs and even some of the Ford racing springs rounding out the high side. So with that said, why pay the same amount of money for a Vogtland spring as you would a set of Eibachs. Well, I could easily say that Vogtland's quality in manufacturing is easily on par if not exceeding most aftermarket spring manufacturers that you might be a little more familiar with. In addition to the quality is the drop. Now one thing I really like about the Vogtland springs here is that they do lower the car an even one and a quarter inches on all four corners, which is going to maintain the slightest bit of rake where the front end is a little lower than the rear, of course, and it just gives you that iconic muscle car stance. Now those Eibachs that I was talking about previously, the Pro Kit, well, it's going to drop the rear a little bit lower than the front, so it's going to maintain more of a leveled look. Some of you guys out there might prefer that look, others might prefer the more raked look that the Vogtlands will provide. Ultimately, it's up for you guys to decide what kind of look you're after, so I do encourage you to head to the product page, check out some customer submitted images if you haven't already. It will help you make up your mind. Besides looking better, you should know that the lower center of gravity and firmer spring rate of the Vogtland springs here will also improve several different areas of your car's performance. This includes less body roll under hard cornering, making for more capable handling, less nose dive under hard breaking, and less squatting under hard acceleration. So basically, the car is going to feel more responsive and more capable overall. Installing a new set of springs on your ride really isn't all that bad, and honestly, it gets easier every time you do it. So for that reason alone, we're going to call it two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Now of course, you want to make sure you have your jack and jack stands on hand ready to go, or a lift if you have access to one, and of course, don't forget your spring compressor for this install. So if you're in the market for a quality spring that will get rid of that wheel gap without getting you stuck on every speed bump in the process, then be sure to check out the Sport springs from Vogtland, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Performance Handling. Installing a set of Vogtland Progressive Rate Springs will lower your S197 GT Mustang's center of gravity, which will reduce squat during acceleration, body roll in the corners, and excessive nose-dive under hard braking. Vogtland Sport Springs are ideal for daily driving, street, and even occasional track use.

Lowered Muscle Car Stance. Not only does a set of Vogtland Sport Springs improve the handling performance of your Mustang, but they also improve its overall appearance. By lowering the ride height approximately 1.2" in the front and rear, that huge tire to fender gap is eliminated, providing your Mustang with a classic muscular stance.

Superior Construction. Vogtland Lower Springs are made to strict standards in Germany. Using a cold coiling process these Springs are manufactured from special oil tempered, high tensile strength spring steels, including chromesilicon (CrSi) and chrome-silicon-vanadium (CrSiV) alloys. After being coiled, all springs are tempered, shot peened and preset to ensure consistent ride height and quality. In the last step of the manufacturing process the springs are phosphate and powder coated for superior long lasting corrosion resistance.

Clears Stock and Aftermarket Wheels & Tires. These lowering springs were engineered to be compatible with your factory size wheels and tires, as well as AmericanMuscle's pre-configured wheel and tire combo kits (specific to your generation), to assure proper clearance with no rubbing issues.

Application. This set of four Vogtland Sport Lowering Springs are specifically designed for use on 2005 to 2014 GT and Bullitt Mustangs, including both coupe and convertible models.

I saw a review stating they had to do extra because they had a convertible(2014 model ). is there extra that needs to be done if I have a 2005 GT convertible? extra parts or just work?

    • The Vogtland Sport Spring Kit will not require any additional components for installation on a convertible model, however convertible models will sit slightly lower due to their heavier weight compared to a coupe.

Are these springs compatible with my new upper strut mounts ( M-18183-C) Also i have a set of Ford Performance Jounce Bumper Kit (M-5570-A) , should these be fitted with these Vogtland springs ?. All items are planned to be fitted to my 2005 GT . Thanks Mike

    • The Vogtland Sport Spring Kit will install just fine with your Upper Strut Mounts and Jounce Bumper Kit.

Will I need to get a front end alignment after installing these springs? Are there any other suspension adjustments needed after installing the springs?

    • Anytime that you altar your suspension, you will want to get an alignment. Installing lowering springs is no exception. Other than an alignment, you will not need to make any other adjustments.

what struts and shock would you recommend to go with these springs ? and should I also put on new front strut mounts ? I have a GT 2005 Controvertible .

    • The shocks and struts are not indicative at all on what springs you have under your Mustang. You can actually stick with your stock shocks and struts and be totally fine. At this point it's just a matter of do you want to upgrade your shocks and struts or not, and what the end goal of your Mustang is. But any of the shocks we have will work with these springs.

      Perfect Springs

I installed these a couple nights ago. If you are looking to lower your car and not sacrifice the ride and improve take off breaking and cornering, these are perfect. I am very happy with these springs for a cruising Convertible. I would not put these on my track car however. Lowered the car a little lest than 1.5 inches.Install was about 2 1/2 hours with 2 guys and a hoist

      Just what I wanted

So far I love these springs. I wanted to get rid of some of my wheel gap without scraping on everything (I have a chin spoiler) so I went with these and they were exactly what I wanted. The springs absorb more than stock ones do on small bumps in the road, give it a slightly lower look, and ride really well. Awesome product.

      Sitting Pretty

Awesome springs for someone looking for a conservative drop; staying in SoCal the roads aren't your friends but with these springs it makes driving a breeze along with looking slick.

      Great springs

These springs were perfect, i wasnt going for a slamed look. I paired them up with the koni strt and the car handles better than what came with the track pack and surprisingly is a nicer ride and smoother over the smaller bumps and minor road imperfections. bigger bumps yeah its a litle harsher but worth it for the performance u gain. IMHO

I would highly recommend these springs. I was a little upset that I had to spend extra since I had a convertible but it was worth it after seeing it done.

As advertised. Drop is 1 1/4, both the ride and the look are improved. If you want a more subtle drop these springs are a great choice.

      Perfect drop

I wasn't looking for a ridiculous drop so I could scrape on everything so 1.5 - 2'' was out. This 1.2" drop is right on the money. These look great paired with my STRT struts and shocks. I'd buy them again.
