W245AX 4.0L Upgrade Kit. This Whipple W245AX 4.0L Twin Screw compressor is a direct bolt-on replacement that gives you the ability to run far higher boost levels than the factory 2.1L roots-type supercharger will allow, while dramatically lowering supercharger discharge temperatures and power consumption (hp).

15 - 30 psi. The Whipple 4.0L Supercharger compressor is engineered to produce 15 to a maximum 30psi of boost pressure with pulley and intake upgrades for unheralded power and performance.

Application. This Black Whipple 4.0L W245AX Supercharger Upgrade Kit is designed as a direct fit performance upgrade for the 2007 to 2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs equipped with the Supercharged 5.4L/5.8L DOHC V-8 engine.

Required Upgrade. Installation of this Whipple Supercharger upgrade kit will require custom calibration of your vehicles computer (PCM) for operation (not included). AmericanMuscle recommends a the use of Handheld Tuner loaded with custom tunes.

Application Note. Whipple W245AX supercharger kits will not fit under the stock hood without running either a JDM K-member spacer kit or the adjustable motor mounts.

what hp and torque gains should i expect if i put on a whipple 4.0l crusher supercharger kit

  • It would be difficult to determine the gains from the Whipple 4.0L Crusher Supercharger as it will require a custom tune. The gains can vary greatly depending on the tune, fueling components and additional supporting modifications. We would highly recommend speaking to your tuner regarding your vehicle and the modifications you plan to tune the vehicle with.

I have read the description on what model mustang and engine this product is intended for; however, I was wondering if this product will work with a 2002-04 terminator style cobra setup? I have a 99 cobra with a full 03-04 terminator setup, with majority of the upgrades necessary to continue advancing while holding hp/tq/boost ect comfortably. I noticed on your site for the 99-04 cobras there's listed up to the 2.9L crusher up to 21lbs and I've had my eyes on this massive 4.0L crusher, just needing a little insight as to whether the 4.0L will work. thank you for your time.

  • Hello! The Whipple Black Crusher Supercharger Upgrade Kit is designed to be a direct fit replacement for the 07-14 GT500. You will likely need a lot of modification for this to work with your setup. We recommend consulting an engine builder, tuner, and Ford Performance for more insight.

Could this fit in a 2007 Shelby Mustang GT?

  • The Whipple Black Crusher Supercharger Upgrade Kit is a supercharger upgrade for GT500's which came equipped with a factory supercharger.     4.0L on 2011 Shelby GT500

    My first upgrade was a 2.9L Whipple. We added all possible bolt-ons including Methanol injection for the street tune and nitrous for the race tune(C16). We then added custom grind Stage 3 cams. We ran out of blower at the top end with the 2.9L (22lbs boost) and elected to go to the 4.0L which we also dialed in with 22lbs boost. We were at 940 rwhp on the race tune(before spraying any nitrous). 2 weeks ago when I had it out and squeezed it up in 3rd gear we blew the bottom end apart as a wrist pin separated from its mount on the underside of the block....aka "Catastrophic Fail". That rod ended up snapping and it punched holes through both sides and the top of the block. Lesson to be learned......build your bottom end "before" talking the power up over 750 rwhp. Also, never run more than 17lbs boost on pump gas(94 Oct.) as youvwill be running on borrowed time u Tim the inevitable happens!
