Couldnt be happier!

Couldn't be happier with this product. Very minor trimming needed for perfect fit will definitely be ordering matching rear seat delete, fender well covers and door panels.

Do the side peices go over the wheel wells to hide them>? Is the spare tire still acessable? Can I put a one piece carpet on top of this?

  • Spare is not accessible since these panels are riveting to the floor of the trunk. The wheel wells are exposed in this kit, save the carpeting to reinstall after fitting this kit together.

How strong are these panels? Will they support the weight of an aluminum battery box and a 3 gallon fuel cell? Or will additional supports need to be built into the spare tire well? Thanks

  • These panels must be stepped and beveled to ensure they maintain there shape. Aluminum at .040 thickness is light weight but also to thin for loading, especially if the add-on will be mounted close together (a concentration of weight) not spread across the entire panel will eventually cause fatigue and molecular imbrittlement. I would create a sub-floor made of plywood (3/8" or 1/2") or build several stanchions out of 1/4" diameter threaded rods with hardware that are solidly mounted to the trunk floor. If you use plywood make sure it is treated for exterior use.

    Review from

Scott Rod trunk panels were purchased to dress up the whole trunk (since there are limited parts to do this) and make the inside of the trunk look "race ready". The fit and finish of this product is really up to the installer. While Scott Rod supplies a beautiful brushed aluminum finish, you must be prepared to cut, bend, and rivet these panels in order to get a near OEM finish. Tools required: Rubber mallet, dremel tool with multiple cutting and drilling attachments, and a rivet gun. (All available at your local hardware store). Tips: Prefit and measure multiple times before installing (measure twice, cut once). Keep in mind all of your fuel pump and tail light wires when drilling. You must make small notches on the edge of the pieces to allow wires to come from the base of the trunk up to the tail lights and other switches. The fuel filler neck must have a notch made in the panel to allow for its proper clearance as well. Finally, the fuel safety cut off switch located on the driver side quarter panel must be remounted on to a side panel piece(supplied by scott rod). When buttoning up your work save some of the removed pieces of side molding and carpeting to cover up the places where the panels do not. These pieces do not cover the wheel wells, still allowing easy access to shock tower bolts. You will not be able to access your spare tire under this kit; the spare must be removed or a mounting solution must be made above the aluminum floor panels. Overall, I recommend this product to the savvy do-it-yourselfers, you dont see too many cars with this kit installed.
