Xenon Mustang Hood Scoop (2005+) - Installation Instructions

The below installation instructions work for the following products:

• Xenon Mustang Hood Scoop (2005+)

Here at American Muscle, we're all about DIY (do it yourself). Of course, there's nothing wrong with seeking out a little bit of tech help prior to taking on an installation on your own. Our Mustang installation guides will provide valuable instructions and hopefully answer any how-to questions that you may have along the way.

Please read through the instructions carefully before starting this project.  Take the time to get all the materials together as well as all the safety equipment.

• 3M Tape
• Water and paper towel
• Methyl Ethyl Ketone
• And 15 minutes of your time!

Installation:

1. The first thing to do is paint the scoop the color of your choice. Wait at least one day so the paint can dry perfectly and the scoop can be ready to be installed with no problems. Or, you can just leave it the color it is.



2. You will need to thoroughly clean surface of the hood where you will be placing the hood scoop. You should be able to do so with just a little water, and then use a paper towel to dry it.



3. Now get some Acetone or Butanone (Methyl ethyl ketone) and wipe it under the edges the hood scoop, where you will be placing the 3M automotive adhesive tape.



4. Apply the 3M tape onto the 4 edges of the scoop and wait at least 10 minutes. DO NOT take off the red backing tape yet.



5. Pre-place/Test fit the hood scoop exactly where you want it to be on the hood. I recommend placing the back edge of the scoop right in the middle of the two windshield wiper nozzles on your Mustang.



6. Finally, pull the red backing tape from the 3M adhesive tape and place the hood scoop in the desired location. Wait at least 20 minutes to allow the adhesive tape to fully take hold. If possible, you may want to get a hair dryer and dry it for a minute to help secure the scoop to your hood.



7. And that’s it, your Xenon hood scoop is perfectly installed!
