V8 Look And Sound. If you're looking to give your V6 Pony the dual exhaust look and aggressive sound of a V8, look no further than the MAC Dual Exhaust Conversion Kit from AmericanMuscle.

Flow Path Mufflers. MAC Flow Path Chambered Mufflers feature a patented multi passage design, following Helmholtz's Theory of Tone, to produce a muffler that effectively flows exiting exhaust gases all while maintaining a desirable tone. With no packing that can burn out, Flow Path Mufflers will sound the same mile after mile, year after year.

No Cutting or Welding Required. Unlike other aftermarket V6 dual exhaust kits that require cutting and welding the stock Mid Pipe, the MAC Performance Dual Exhaust Cat-Back system simply bolts right up to the stock Y-pipe for a no hassle installation. Just bolt on and go!

High Quality Construction. Mandrel bent from durable 2.5" aluminized Steel tubing for strength and corrosion resistance, this MAC Performance Dual Cat-Back features two "Flow Path" chambered mufflers with massive 3" diameter polished stainless steel tips for classic muscle car sound and looks.

Application. The MAC Performance Dual Exhaust Cat-Back System is designed as a direct bolt-on to the existing factory Y-pipe on any 1999 to 2004 3.8L or 3.9L V6 Mustang for more power and a more aggressive sound.

Technical Note. When buying a dual cat-back exhaust kit for your 1999-2004 V6 Mustang, you will need to select the "Exhaust Hanger Kit" from the drop down option menu above to properly install your new exhaust.

Installation Note: AmericanMuscle recommends changing to a 1999-2004 GT rear fascia so the tips fit properly.

If I buy the pypes off-road x pipe for the v6, will it work with this system if I remove the y pipe? This system sounds incredible, deep low, mellow tone. not ricey or (ouch) sounding, but I am very curious about adding the x pipe, if I remove the y pipe, would the x with some minor fabrications fit my car? ( I plan on keeping my cats on) or would I run to some serious issues? What would be my main problem with doing this? what would be my best option? thank you very much

  • The off road X pipe has no cats , it bolts directly to your header pipes. If you don't buy the X pipe with cats, there's a lot of cutting and welding to keep the original cats on there. Save some headaches and some money and get the complete exhaust system

When you install this exhaust, do you have to reset your computer or not? I have been asking people what they would think if I put this kit on my car and they saidt to have a shop do it because of resetting the computer, and thats one thing im not good at.

  • This conversion kit won't require a new computer tune after installation! Just install and enjoy!!

I have a 2000 v6 3.8L mustang. How labor intensive is putting in a whole new exhast? With my mustang just having one exhast running straight back would everything line up ok going all the way back if i were to buy the MAC duel Echast Conversion Kit? i just want to make sure im buying the right one! Thanks!

  • Yes it would I literally just got it put on today and it took my shop person 2 hours to do it looks and sounds amazing the exhaust lines up even on both sides. You have to buy the pypes hanger kit from americanmuscle along with the mac kit to have all of the parts needed. I also recommend getting a cold air intake to make it sound to its full potential. How this helped!!!

So, you recomend to buy the 1999-2004 GT rear fascia kit Does this mean that the tips of these pipes are going o come out of the side in front of my rear tires?? or all the way back like the stock pipe.

  • They go out the rear like the GT. You do not need a GT bumper, they fit very nice.

Will this make it have a thunder sound?

  • These appear to be chambered mufflers. Therefore, expect a more deeper tone as opposed to a louder, raspier noise that you get from a glasspack. Dont expect an overpowering change in sound.

    Great sound!!

I took a month deciding which exhaust to choose, and by far this is the best one!! My friend and I installed it with not much expirience. I sounds better than a gt in my opinion and looks great without the bumper cutouts. Overall choose this one if you are still deciding on an exhaust for your v6

I love this exhaust. It's perfect besides the included tip hangers. I have a Gt bumper cover and with the tip hangers, they sit too low. I had to cut/shorten and weld them so theyd sit up in the cut outs. The bolt on design of the system was easy to install. People say it sounds like a V8. I installed them on jackstands in my driveway, so it can be done at home. I highly recommend this system.

Video w/ Sound Clips on this Review

I really love this exhaust on my 2000 V6. The only other performance mod I have is the $70 cold air intake also from american muscle. These two parts REALLY shine together. The exhaust has a really deep aggressive start up and then comes back down to a modest growl as you idle. Accelerating at launch is also nice and loud but again, once you hit your cruising speed it really calms down. I love that it doesn't sound phony like a bottle rocket screaming down the road. VERY happy I invested in this exhaust! As everyone else says, buy the pypes hanger kit in the exhaust section of American Muscle. My mechanic said install was virtually impossible without the hanger kit.

    Loud Start up.

ordered it on Monday and got it Wednesday morning, cant beat the shipping. this is probably the BEST dual exhaust for your v6, the start up is ridiculously loud and so is the revving. sounds great when your on the road and took about 45 minutes to install, but you NEED TO NEED TO NEED TO order the "Pypes exhaust hanger kit" otherwise you'll never be able to get the exhaust installed.

Best Bolt On Exhaust on the Market for the Mustang 3.8 and 3.9

Great addition to anyones V-6 Mustang. I didn't buy from AM as I got it shipped for $270 from another site, but either way the improvement this exhaust makes is very noticable. Once tuned and in combo with a CAI, it allows the car to have more low end kick especially but throughout the entire RPM range. Sounds its best with said CAI and tune but even without provides a deep rumble at idle and a very nice growl even at WOT. Sound under acceleration is quite noticable inside the car and outside it and even at freeway crusing speeds you can hear its low growl which is very nice (and feel it...the mufflers sit up and in under the body so there is a nice pleasant vibration from them under your feet at higher speeds). Make sure you purchase a hangar kit for this as you need the two rear hangars and an additional front hangar on the RIGHT side (but be aware that this MAC may have hangars that are too thick for the PYPES kit, see my review of that part regarding that). Installation is easy for any muffler shop and can be done by a DIY person though I would advise two people if you're not using a lift. Of course you are not going to get the sound or performance of an H pipe with this, but you also don't have to cut, weld or mod anything to use this...and you'll stay emission compliant. I would say if you want a nice throaty sound for your V-6, a bit more performance, something that looks really good and you don't have alot of cash, this is the best exhaust out there. If you shop around for the unit AND for the labor, you should be able to get this on your car for under $400-I did it for $350...well worth it.

    Best for the price

First of all, I ordered this somewhere else but wanted to put my review here. The exhaust sounds amazing & looks great. Now I always have my windows rolled down because I love the sound. Especially when you start it now I am actually proud of my v6 now. I highly recommend this turns heads too. Oh and also I did this with jack stands so it is possible with them.

    Good Mod, Worth the Money!

Likes: - Easy Install - Great Price for Quality Construction - Throaty Sound - Fits well under V6 bumper (Pypes hanger kit) Dislikes: - needs to have slip joint at muffler vice weld. This limits necessary tweaks to clear frame, drive shaft and control arms. Not a big deal but does limit perfect fit. See pics, about 1/2 inch low rt side

    MAC Y-Pipe Exhaust

I didn't purchase this exhaust from AM as they've just started carrying it, but if you're looking for what I believe is the best sound throughout the entire band for a stock/slightly modified V6 then stop here, this IS what you're looking for! Be sure to pick up some new exhaust hangers while you're at it and install will be a breeze.

Best recommended exhaust for the V6. I was very pleased with the sound. No rasp, just low growl. Didn't purchase from AM as i got it about a year ago. Very easy install, make sure you have GT hangers. Highly recommend!

    Great buy for the money

If you're looking for a good upgrade to you V6 in this price range, don't even think twice about buying this. My car went from having virtually no sound to turning heads everywhere I go. The start up is loud and the sound emitted from stepping on the accelerator is a deep, aggressive rumble. Install time was about 40 minutes but that's because my uncle works at a Ford dealership so we put it up on a lift and had the best tools for the job. As stated in other reviews, you also have to buy the hanging kit but other than that this is a GREAT modification. I bought the SLP Loudmouth II mufflers to put on as well but have yet to get them welded on, I'm actually not even sure if I want to change the sound now..

Love the tone! It took me a while to choose between true duals or this and im happy with my choice! Best sound is around 2500 to 3000 rpms, and cruising at around 1300rpms. Great bang for the buck!

bought from AM bone stock mustang v6 5 speed..couldnt decide from flows or this and so glad I choose this. This was so much cheaper and heck those tips stickin out the back looks so sick people already asked me if it was a gt and I just laughed.. But sounds great.. No ricey poop sounding exhaust.. Deep lower toned growl.. Sounds mean especially round 3000 rpms it's many looks and heads turned it's insane.. Barely can even hear inside of car with windows down or up so it's quiet but 50 times louder outside it's great

GT looks and sound!! But v6 mpg!!

Took me a year to decide what exhaust to get for my v6. Wanted gt styling and sound but also easy on the wallet. Was worried about getting a exhaust that made sound ricy. Not the case with this Mac setup!! It was straight forward bolt-in kit. Passenger side is a little tight by the frame and control arm. Helpful hint!! Buy the pypes hanger kit!! Or it will be impossible. Took about 2 hours to install in my drive way. After I installed it took it around the block and people whip the heads to see if its a gt. No performance gain that I noticed but awesome sound. Great product!!

    Great product!

First off, i ordered these on Sunday and got them Tuesday, shipping is fantastic. They took about four hours to install and its a lot easier if you take off the back wheels. You need to order the Pypes exhausts hangar kit or you wont be able to install it. The start up is really loud and it has a deep "grunt" around 2000rpm. Definitely worth the money and time!

Bought this for my 02. Great price. We bought it from another online store but it's the same product. Put it on in a afternoon. The hardest part was cutting out the old exhaust pipe. The new sound my car has is awesome. I would definately recommend these pipes for anyone who wants the GT sound for their v6! You wont be dissapointed!

    no downside!

Every aspect of this exhaust kit is great. Sounds great, looks great. The sound isnt much louder, but it's very rumbly and has a nice startup sound. Little interior sound at crusing speeds, but when accelerating slowly or quickly there is a nice inside noise with the windows down. At 1400 rpm it subtly shakes the whole car, so it's a great noise. At around 3300 rpm it really opens up. Cost me 60$ to install at a shop, and only took about 45 minutes. I will probably cut the stock.and Mac Y pipes and get straight pipes welded to the cats, with a crossover pipe. Bottomline, dont spend 700$ on an exhaust kit, buy this!

    Best Mod Yet

Since my car is a 6 cylinder and isn't that loud in the first place I was kinda iffy about putting on an after market exhaust, but I'm more than happy that I did. Other than the pipes not being bent exactly right and having to pay the exhaust shop 100 bucks for hangers and to install it I'm completely happy. To be a 6 cylinder my car sounds great. The start up is a deep loud growl and this growl remains constant through idle. Also at higher RPMs the sound is ridiculous! I've gotten many compliments after installation. I'm definitely more than satisfied with this purchase. Once again AM did an amazing job! You won't be disappointed if you purchase this set up.

    Best on the Market

So i have been looking for an exhaust for some time now for my 03 v6 it has a cold air intake and 4.10 gears so it was time to get a nice tone to her. I couldn't decide what i wanted to go with straight pipes or what but then i saw the Mac system. I installed it in less than a day (i am no mechanic by any means) and it was as easy as tightening a few bolts. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY ONE WITH A 99-04 v6 looking for a great sounding mustang. the only problem that i ran into is a decided not to get the pypes hanger kit with the system and it came back to bite me had to put a universal one on but it all worked out. i have a picture of my exhaust posted above its the blue azure stang. I promise you will not be disappointed i believe this is the best exhaust system for your mustang and no doubt best bang for your buck

Whoever submitted the picture, did you have to modify it to fit the V6 Fascia...I thought I would have to cut the bumper to fit the two pipes in or buy a GT Fascia, if not that would be awesome..?!

    Best V6 exhaust!

In my opinion here is no better sounding exhaust for your v6 than the Mac dual exhaust kit. For starters it is loud. Probably even louder than your normal GT. The idling note is probably 8.5/10, not quite flow master, pypes, etc. however at higher rpms, I have never heard a v6 keep its growl so well. No rivet whining sound, just pure growl and rumble. The downside is the fit. To get it even closely lined up on the rear end, your passenger side pipe is sitting maybe a 1/4 inch off your gas tank, and with the vibrations, it will rattle. Took a lot of time to get it just right. Looks great. Sounds great and for the money you can't complain. Even if you were to complain, no one would hear over how awesome you sixxer sounds!
