More Horsepower. The Accel Super Coil On Plug Kit makes more power then the wimpy stock OEM factory coils to help produce more horsepower from your 3.7L V6 engine. They are a perfect match for stock engines and engines with minor performance upgrades.

Superior Design. Accel Coils feature an advanced bobbin technology, highly specialized silicone magnetic steel cores, along with optimized winding, resistance and turns ratios to delivery 10-15% more energy than the factory OEM coils. More energy equals a hotter spark that burns fuel more completely, releasing all it's potential energy, translating into better fuel economy and more power that you can feel.

Application. This set of six Accel Super Coil On Plugs are designed as a direct performance upgrade for the 2011 to 2017 V6 Mustangs equipped with the 3.7L TiVCT V6 engine.

Performance upgrades Could you use these if you have a CAI with tuner and aftermarket LT headers with an off road mid pipe?

MPG Increase Can anyone tell me if they've seen any increase in MPG with these coils? I recently did some mods and lost 3 MPG (most due the the increased gear ratio I put on). Wondering how I might get back a couple MPG as I drive 110 highway miles a day.

  • I put them on my car , as far as better mpg , well I don't think so, but I have a heavy foot lol , anyway better responce when you get after it , hope that helps ya

Does it require a tune? When I first started modifying, I installed a cold air intake and tuner from Steeda. About a month later, I installed a BBK throttle body and didn't alter the tune; I was told that I didn't need a newer tune with the newer throttle body. My car right now has the original Steeda tune that was required for CAI. If I were to install this super coil on plug kit, would I need a different tune than what I already have? And would a newer tune for what I already have plus this super coil on plug kit be an improvement over the tune I already have? Is there such a tune?

Aussie

  • no the coils do not require a reflash(tune)

Suitable for Superchargers? I have a fully bolt-on procharged 3.7, is this coil kit suitable for FI applications?

GFRESH

  • I'm also running the ProCharger on my 2014 3.7, along with BBK 73mm Throttle Body, BBK long tube headers, Single piece aluminum drive shaft, 3.73 gears sitting on a nice set of staggered Cooper ZEON RS3-S. I saw in the description ... "More energy equals a hotter spark that burns fuel more completely". Seeing as I had to buy cooler plugs once I put the supercharger on, I don't think this is the best idea for your set up. Besides, isn't 470 HP out of our V6 enough? Ok, you can never have enough :-) but not with these.

    Terrible Quality

The rubber boot and sealing is very cheap quality. When I performed a spark plug change and decided to take these Accel coils out, all of the rubber boots stayed in each cylinder attached to the old spark plugs even when previously installing them with a generous amount of lube. I had to go out to the store to buy to an extended needle nose plier to go in each cylinder and rip the boots out. Awful experience with these. I went back to stock but am going to the Granatelli Coils a try in their future.

    Happy with the results.

I held off from writing a review for a couple months until got a good sense of the benefits. I decided to purchase these coils not for the HP increase (though, that's welcome) but as a way to potentially gain back some of the MPG I lost with recent performance upgrades (including a new set of 3:70 gears). With a 110 mile daily drive, I estimated that a 2-3mpg benefit would produce a less than 10month ROI; a result I would be happy with. Thus far, I'm seeing a 2.4mpg increase...right in line with my estimates. Assuming that continues to hold, I'd recommend the product.

Great Perf upgrade but be prepared for install

Just got the car back from my mechanic and wow. Acceleration off the line and between gears is much improved . Just feels quicker. One caveat- you will need a new plenum gasket and that is only available thru your Ford dealer. Not expensive and easy to get but you need it for putting the car back together.... This is a bit expensive but if it adds 8-12 HP this easily it is well worth it.

    IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE!!!

I have been adding things to my 2013 V6 6 speed manual for about a year, Airaid cai & Bama tunes first, next 4.10 Ford racing Gears, then BBK long tube headers, and off-road X-pipe and Pypes pipe-bombs, and for a V6 it was fast, but the thing that pulled it all together was the accel super coils! it may, or may not have picked up some horsepower, but it made it jump right out of the hole, and my gas milage is back to the 29 miles a gal. it was before I started working on "Frankinstine the mustang" The work was easy, and it's the best money I put in this car So-far. DO IT!!!

    Accel Super Coil

This is one of those products that you would have to Dyno the car to truly know the performance gain!! But a true car guy could tell the difference in response from the engine! along with the tuner on my V-6 it makes a performance difference out on the road.

    good not great

i installed these along with new plugs in my garage in about an hour, one quick note my factory plug gap was over twice what it is supposed to be( .47-.53 is correct)), and the install went fine after install i started the car and let it run for about 15 minutes and it re-learned some things(you could hear it changing things and revs for a little while) then when it settled out it rev'd a little lower than usual and it also rev'd much smoother, just nicer. so i took it out for a rip and right away noticed better throttle response, i really like the improvement there, however i cant say i noticed any better fuel economy and i also had the vehicle dyno'd before and after and didnt notice a difference as far as hp or tq is concerned, so over all im very happy with the improved throttle response! i hope this helps you make a educated decision!

    Accel Coil

I really hate giving negative reviews and this is my first one. Before purchase I understood that this gave very minor performance increase, I hoped with a cai+TB+ coils = I would be able to notice a small power increase. But personally I FELT nothing. Maybe if I dynoed I might see something somwhere in the curve but I dont FEEL any difference anywhere in or near the power band. But please dont take my review too seriously. Maybe im an exception. Other review says he had a gain.

    • Response from AmericanMuscle

Hard to give specifics not knowing which CAI you have etc, but if you don't feel a difference now, you would definitely feel an increase in performance combined with a custom tune. The tune would offer max hp gains and would help your Mustang run better as well. If you have any questions on our Bama custom tunes, please don't hesitate to contact us! We'd be more than happy to help!

    Not to bad

I was a little hesitant after reading the mustang forums. A lot of distrust in this product and its true impact on performance, but i bought them while they were on sale. Install was a little over an hour, because i had difficulty finding the torque spec and sequence for the intake manifold. Be sure to have that handy before starting this job. After install i notice the car ran a lot smother, had more pick up and throttle response was definitely increased. Overall, they cost a little to much for the hp gain, but they do work and make a difference when getting on the throttle.

    Accel Coils for 3.7 V-6

Just installed these coils this afternoon. Along with the BBK Long Tube Headers, BBK Catted X-Pipe, BBK 73MM Throttle Body and Airaid CAI that were previously installed, this little pony is truly humming. It idles smoother and the small hesitation in the 2-3 upshift is now gone completely. I truly love BBK products as well as Accel products. Are they expensive? Yeah, but so are the other items I have listed. All I know is my 2012 V-6 is a joy to drive. It's a daily driver, gets 30+ MPG on trips and will flat out haul when the pedal is pressed down. Oh, and a big shout out to AmericanMuscle for their great products and staff.

    quicker acceleration.

deffinately add a quicker response with my tuner and forced air from my intake and throttle body I still need more aftermarket parts to see if it adjusts to everything. Easy fit just need the pleneum gasket so have a tight seal.

Accel Super Coil On Plug Kit (11-16 V6)

THESE COILS ARE SO LAME. I PURCHASED THESE AND SIX MONTHS LATER CYCLINDER #2 STARTED HAVING ISSUES. THEREFORE, I WON'T BUY THEM AGAIN. A BUNCH OF HIPE BECAUSE IT REALLY DOESNT DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR. YOU CAN ONLY MAKE SO MUCH HORSEPOWER ON A V6. TO TURN THE V6 INTO A BEAST YOU HAVE TO ADD A PROCHARGER FOR 470 RWHP. THIS IS THE ONLY SOLUTION - PROCHARGER IT. IN 2 YEARS i'LL BE DOING A 5.4L SWAP.
