Dodge Challenger Sway Bars & Anti-Roll Kits

Dodge Challenger Sway Bars & Anti-Roll Kits

A great suspension system cuts the bumpy effects of driving on rough road surfaces. Many people think of the springs and shock absorbers at the mention of a suspension system. A perfect system has other parts such as those that help to lower the effects of body roll.

Body roll refers to how the vehicle leans when you spin into a corner. It is what throws you in the opposite direction every time the car swings left or right. The roll happens because the automobile transfers weight around the car every time you navigate a bend. The force builds up and becomes stronger when you are driving at high speeds. The Dodge Challenger is a high-performing beast when it comes to speed. Such power easily gets out of hand when you have little control over the roll. Flipping over becomes a high possibility. Without the 2008-2022 Challenger sway bars, your car will suffer from extreme cases of body roll. Anti-roll bars or stabilizers work by shifting the force evenly to the other side of the body. The metal rods help to keep all wheels to the ground by redacting the force applied to the suspension on the other end of the turn. 2008-2022 Challenger sway bar kits include a set of front and rear steel bars.

Make sure that you have the sway bars in the correct setting. A tightly packed stabilizer system stiffens up your car. Considering how they work, the stiffness creates an unpleasant experience when one wheel hits a rough patch. The anti-roll bar will distribute the jolt to the other side of the vehicle. To install the 2008-2020 Challenger sway bars, you need to make sure that it is at least one foot shorter than the width between the two wheels and it firmly fits.

Sway bars are a great way to improve the handling of your Challenger because they reduce body roll without sacrificing ride comfort or the ability of your suspension to handle bumps and uneven road surfaces. Also known as anti-roll bars, these stabilizing suspension components work by connecting the wheels on each side of the car. During cornering, as forces build up on the outside wheel, this is transferred to the inside wheel and increases roll stiffness. This helps to increase the car’s ability to resist the body leaning over. In turn, there is less transfer of weight, and the car can corner flatter. By installing upgraded Challenger sway bars, you can tune the suspension of your vehicle to provide the level of grip and handling you need for your application. Another advantage of sway bars is that they can be used to modify the handling characteristics. In some conditions, you might want less roll stiffness. One extreme example of this os off-road vehicles, which might have their anti-roll bars disconnected to help them cope with the need for extreme axle articulation over irregular terrain. If you’re competing on a race track in very wet conditions, you might want to lessen the anti-roll stiffness to provide a more progressive feel and improve your ability to put the power down out of corners. Sway bars work together with links that connect them to your suspension. The links are typically attached to a control link or knuckle. The sway bar itself is fixed to the chassis of the car using sway bar bushings. Both sway bar bushings and sway bar links can degrade over time, and even break. The performance of your suspension can be restored or improved by replacing old sway bar bushings and sway bar links with new, upgraded parts.
