C L CAI w/82mm MAF
I wanted a complete CAI with the MAF that were designed and made together, so my options were limited. I've have had other Mustang and Ford friends say good things about CandL along with their past performance experiences so I was pretty set on this set-up. I was however a little apprehensive on buying this particular set-up due to clearance issues with my Trick Flow valve covers. After talking through texts with the always great and helpful AM reps, they said they didn't know if it would clear the covers or not due to no known history for that application. The reply was if it didn't fit, I could send it back for a refund. Nice to get a honest answer without a "it should fit" or some other sales reply. With that assurance, I comfortably went ahead and purchased it without any further hesitation.. It quickly showed up as all my previous purchases have. I went to work putting it on. It cleared no problem with a nice amount of clearance around the covers, the strut towers and along the fender. The kit fit exceptionally well and looks very neat. Everything looks high quality, strong and well made. Not cheap looking or low quality parts in the kit. Very nice and I'd highly recommend this kit over others I've seen regarding looks.
The next step was to take it out for a test run. I have a fair amount of basic performance bolt-on mods including a BAMA tuner but haven't gone into the engine. So I wasn't sure if the CAI kit would have a real noticeable performance "Seat of the pants" feel or gain. Well, that wasn't an issue at all. The CAI kit made a very definite change in performance that could be felt immediately upon throttle application. The car pulls harder and it moves noticeably quicker above 2500 rpms. I haven't done any half to full throttle clutch releases since I don't drive the car in that manner, but I wouldn't be surprised at all that it would do that more noticeably as well.
The only downside I'd say I have with the kit, which isn't a real issue but more of a personal taste issue, is the hose color being an off colored blue. it doesn't blend as well as I would have liked I would have liked it to for my particular application. I would liked to have had black hoses or at least the option to choose black hoses. They would look a little better for my application and personal taste. Again, no problem at all with the kit quality or performance. Just a color option suggestion for the hoses for those of us that like to do car shows or displays with our cars.
Definitely a kit well worth the $$$ and I highly recommend it for looks and performance. I'm very impressed with CandL's products and let others know that inquire about it.
