How to Install a Coil Pack on Your 2001-2004 V6 Mustang

Tools Required

  • 7mm Socket Wrench
  • 5/16 Socket Wrench
  • Flat Head Screw Driver
Installation Time: 1 Hour

Installation

Installation Instructions:

  1. Remove negative cable from battery using 5/16 socket and secure away from negative terminal.

  2. Remove wire harness from coil & throttle cable coupling.

    1. Use a flat head screwdriver to help by gently lifting on tab as this clip can easily break.
    2. Pull coupling straight off bolt.

  3. Remove (3) bolts attached to the old coil using a 7mm socket wrench (Bolts A, B & C shown in photo)

    4. *NOTE: Bolt C – there is a metal plate attached; this will need to be reattached later on.

  4. Remove spark plug wires from old terminal.

    5. *NOTE: Mark the order of each wire in relationship to the coil pack with tape and a marker or follow diagram provided below.

  5. Install Coil Pack

    1. Coil Pack will mount in same factory location using the (3) bolts that were removed.

    2. Reattach wire harness/throttle cable coupling.
    3. nstall spark plug wires.

  6. Reconnect negative cable to battery terminal.
