Description
Improve ET's And Low End Torque. Are you looking to get more low end grunt off the line and lower your ET's at the same time? Then look no further than installing a set of steeper gears in your Pony. Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Gears are perfect for street, road, or race use.

Superior Quality. These Ford Racing 4.10 Mustang ring and pinion gears feature a super strong forged construction, CNC cut & lapped gear teeth, and a black oxide finish to resist corrosion.

Recommended Upgrade. Changing the rear axle gear ratio will throw off the calibration of your Mustangs speedometer, but a Ford Racing Speedometer Recalibration Tool is an inexpensive way to fix this issue.

Application. This Ford Racing 4.10 Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit all 1999 to 2004 V6 Mustang models equipped with a 7.5" rear end. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles, see drop down option above.

Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations.

4.10s

I have purchased both the 3.73s and the 4.10s and i can easily say the 4.10s are amazing on the track. I also like the smoothness it delivers through high speeds. Excellent product!!

Will this gears add or reduce traction on wet surfaces? I have a v6 mustang and when press the accelerator a little too fast sometimes the the rear wheels loose traction and slip in wet surfaces and i dont know if the 4.10 gears would make it worst.

Balde Year: 2000 Model: V6

  • Yes. Switching gears increases the mechanical advantage your engine can apply to the wheels. This means that it will increase the applied torque. If you install a limited slip differential in place of a stock open differential, it will increase your straight line traction; just don't try gunning it in the middle of a turn or you'll break loose. A limited slip diff is always recommended when upgrading gear ratios.

will they fit? Will these fit in the auburn HP limited slip differential?

Robinson Year: 2000 Model: V6

  • Yes they will fit and if you are planning on doing it complete you will also need a bearing rebuild kit with all the trimmings and the proper gear oil recommend by the manufacturer.

Which are better for my V6 Manual? 3.73 or 4.10?

CSUNstangs Year: 2000 Model: V6

  • The answer to your question depends on how you use your car. If you mainly just drive in the city, then the 4.10's are perfect. If you do a mixture of both then I would suggest the 3.73's. I have the 4.10's in my 2008 v6 and I love them. I do 99% of my driving in the city with speed limits topping out around 50. However when I do get on the highway the other 1% of the time, I wish I had my old gears. I have no gear whine or any problems like that, however when I go over 80mph with these gears, I have a good deal of vibration when I let off the throttle. Probably because of the 7.5" inch rear end, but then again I don't recall vibration with the stock gears even at top speed of 115mph. I have a manual transmission as well. My recommendation for you then is to assess how important it is to you to get good gas milage on the highway. I averaged 28mpg with stock gears on a 12 hour trip GA to MD. Now I average 20mpg on the highway(usually 20-40 mile distances). If I had it to do over again I would still buy the 4.10's purely because I pretty much never drive on the highway.

I have to say when i was driving home I wasn't impressed with the speed, but the ride was a LOT smoother, I was going around 40 mph at 2,000 rpm. Oh boy was I wrong, put your foot down a little more and holy ****! I swear to god it changes your whole car, its GREAT! I have to recommend these to all of the auto's out there! I am so happy that I got these! Don't get the other brands, stay with ford racing. Afterall, you do have a ford and you know its going to work and last. Lube it all up with royal purple for a clean install with no noises or problems! Hope this helps everyone!

Install these and you'll forever enjoy hitting red lights

The 4.10 gears are great for giving your mustang that extra nudge for getting off of the line quicker. These gears make the acceleration so much more enjoyable and responsive. So far these have been on my car for 4-5 months and I haven't had any problems with them. I strongly suggest you have a high performance shop put these on, and preferably someone with experience in installing these type of gears. The downsides are that you'll most likely need a shop to install them unless you're a professional and mpg's slightly decrease (partially due to the fact that I can't stop mashing on the pedal and grinning).

    Get 4.10's!

Glad I went with 4.10's. The gain is not as big a jump as everyone is claiming from my 2001's 3.27s, but it is definitely noticeable esp at WOT. Do yourself a favor and get 4.10's PUT THE GRIN BACK ON YOUR FACE!

    don't fear the gear!

I was skeptical at first about these gears cause everyone was yelling me to go 3.73 cause my rooms will be high at highway speeds Well that's completely wrong. These gears give you a ton more torque, BETTER gas mileage at any speed, and makes the car pull like there's no tomorrow. Fifth gear still puts you in the seat. Take it from me, these gears gotta be your next mod.

    Ford Racing Gears

I would recommend these the 4.10 Ford Racing Gear to anyone with a v6 Mustang and looking to put some pep in its step. I noticed a huge difference after installing the gears. Wish I would have done it sooner. As far as installing I am 17 yrs old and had no problems installing them and I have about 7000 miles on them with no problems. The car is always in the "power band" with these which is great.

    Great product!!!!

This is a great add on for any mustang. I have a v6 with few upgrades but the 4.10 gears really makes a big difference when trying to gain more acceleration . It takes about a full day for your car to get these installed if you leave it In a shop. Definitely worth the money.

    Excellent quality

This product is really well built. This is a really good product to use to make the gear ratios closer which is a must on an automatic v6 mustang. Can always depend on ford racing for excellent products :)

Maybe not for a 5 speed

The gears fit almost perfectly in my 2000 v6 mustang and the install only took me little over 2 hours. (Just using a jack and jack stands in my driveway) The gear ratio is a little high for only 5 gears though. I tend to not even bother with first gear anymore and I top my car out at about 130km/h. Fuel economy has not changed for city driving but I seem to burn a lot of gas on the highway. If you are just looking to make a speedy city car these are for you.
