Description
Less Weight, More Power. Ford Racing's Light Weight Aluminum Drive Shaft for 1979 through 1995 5.0L and 1994 through 2004 V6 Mustang's is designed to reduce stress on your car by reducing the rotating mass of your drive train. Less weight means better power transfer allowing you to put more horse power to the ground.

Superior Construction. Constructed of light-weight, high-strength seamless 3.5" diameter aluminum tubing. Ford Racing's Light Weight Aluminum Drive Shaft is built to last and is the perfect replacement for your street or strip car.

Specifications. This Ford Racing drive shaft is made from lightweight aluminum and features a 28 spline that is compatibility with 7.5" or 8.8" Differentials.

Application. The Ford Racing drive shaft fits 1979-1995 5.0L Mustang's with T-5/SROD/C-4/A0D Transmission, 1979-1993 5.0L's with Tremec Transmissions, 1994-2004 3.8/3.9L V6 Mustangs with a T-5 Transmission.

Technical Note. This driveshaft will also fit 1996-2004 Automatic Transmission V6 Mustangs if the factory yoke is removed and reused. The yoke is located on the end of the driveshaft attaching it to the transmission with two spring clips and a pressure fitting. Special tools maybe required for removal.

Perfect fit for my V6

I have a '99 3.8L with a T5 manual trans. I also swapped in an 8.8 rear out of a GT. This was the perfect fit for my car. Lighter and much nicer than the stock one. Helped out getting rid of some vibration

  • I believe the weight of the Ford Racing Aluminum Driveshaft - 28 Spline (79-95 5.0L; 94-04 V6) comes in roughly around 18 pounds whereas the factory set up came in at a whopping 46lbs on a calibated scale. So the difference being more than double the weight of the aluminum driveshaft. Hope that helps.

    Well worth it

    I am stationed in Germany and drive a 99 V6 with 60K miles on it as my DD. Since the driving speed limits are quite a bit higher here a smooth ride is very important. Before the driveshat swap I noticed a lot of vibration through various gears and the car was always a bit sluggish. Now that I put the Ford Racing Driveshaft on I've noticed a lighter and quicker launch, my car takes hills a lot better (coupled with a LOK limited slip rear differential, also by FR) and there is a significantly lower amount of vibration through the gears and RPM ranges, especially in 2nd and 5th gear. Prior to the swap, I would get a lot of vibration and whine through my Steeda Tri Ax shifter and now it is all gone, even at 120 MPH. My car handles on the autobahn better and I would recommend this part to any V6 enthusiast. I also own a 2010 GT and find good upgrade parts hard to find for the V6 community as compared to the V6's older brother, the GT. So as always, thanks AM for remembering us '6 bangers' too.

    Perfect fit for my V6

    Makes a Difference

    My old driveshaft had badly worn U-Joints, so I decided to buy the FRP Aluminum Driveshaft. There is a lot less vibration from the drivetrain at highway speeds now. It's noticeably smoother and a bit quicker to accelerate as well.

    Light Weight Power

    I'm running a 3.8 Automatic. After installing new 3.73 gears and an LSD, my stock rusted driveshaft acquired a bit of a vibration around 80mph and higher. Decided to drop some money into this Aluminum Ford Racing Driveshaft, and am definitely happy with the outcome. The car drives much smoother from start to finish - Even at 110mph! Seems to accelerate a bit quicker too. Take a moment to hold the stock driveshaft in comparison to the aluminum... the difference is incredible. To be honest, this part is a little pricey, but I think it's worth it, since it looks and feels high quality. Installation is very quick and easy. 4 Bolts to the rear end, drop and pull out the old driveshaft, slide in the new one, and reinstall the bolts. Cake ;)

    Aluminum Driveshaft

    This is a must upgrade for people looking to get real rear wheel horse, Lighter weight drive train means a better performance and gear play through the transmission from the difference in weight ratio, when you take a moment to hold the stock shaft as apposed to the aluminum shaft, the weight difference is incredible.

    I got the driveshaft to get rid of the vibration i was having while coasting. did the trick. revs alot quicker too.

    it slid right in the the transmission and bolted right to the rear end, perfect fit. and got rid of a lot of vibration as well.

    Smooth as glass.

    I have a 2001 v6 convertible so mine is the application requiring the use of the factory yoke. It was a little disappointing since the factory yoke is big and heavy with a large damper on it. Other than that, it is great. I never thought I had any vibration until it was gone. Now it drives smooth as glass. I have 4:10 gears and now it is hard to keep her under 70 on the highway. My pony just wants to run. I live in the Texas Hill country and the lighter weight helps on the hills. It is a little pricey, but nothing is too good for my baby.

    drive shaft

    I recommend this piece for everybody who has the stock version..trust me this piece is way better..after installation I took my 94 gt 5.0 to the interstate n I was flying at 120 really smoothly!! No vibrations at all!!

    Smoothed up my ride!

    Perfect fit for my 1993 t-5 2.3L. Installed it with a new tailshaft bushing. My car used to shake a lot at highway speeds now its smoothed out, power also increased I can tell because I can hear my tires squeal when I powershift into 2nd and 3rd. The split second of tire burning when I powershift makes me feel happy that I bought it.
