Voltage How much more voltage do these bad boys make over the factory coils? Or do they make the same as the factory coils

Andres0684 Year: 1999 Model: Cobra

  • They are the same voltage, 20,000. I know they say Ford Racing, but the part # is still DG-543 Motorcraft. No problem though. They work GREAT in our '04 Mach1. Don't be fooled by voltage claims. Unless you have some High output BEAST under the hood, these will be all you need.

Who and where are the ford racing coil on plugs made? I have a 03 cobra and am needing new coil on plugs. I would like to know who builds them and would know if they are made in the u.s. or wherever. I am thinking of buying the weapon x coils but would buy the ford racing ones if I know I'm getting a quality product.

Cobra88 Year: 2003 Model: Cobra

  • I just bought the Ford Racing Coils from AM, for our '04 Mach1. They are Motorcraft. Part # DG-543. They're made in China. But Ford I'm sure has their own standard for these, even though they are made overseas. Working great for us, that's for sure. And at least they're Factory Replacements.

    Happy AM Carries These Coils

These Ford Racing Coils, are actually Motorcraft DG-543's. The same 20,000 Volts as stock. But, that's a good thing. My wife's '04 Mach1 was starting to SKIP or SHUDDER at steady low RPMs between 35 and 40. I thought it was Torque Converter chatter at first. But, the Tranny is fine. I replaced the Plugs about 25,000 miles back. Then I thought MAYBE, it could be a bad Coil. It does have 100,000 miles on the original ones. So, I ordered these Ford Racing Coils. The factory ones got us that far, so why go with aftermarket ones now. Reviews about other coils being better than factory, doesn't wash. The factory coils average 80 to 100,000 miles, or more. Of course ANY NEW Coil is going to be a big improvement at first. But, longevity comes to mind. I'll tell you now, these babies DELIVER! I replaced all 8. Not going to diagnose it with all those miles. It's been almost a couple of weeks, and my wife's been keeping me up to date on how great these coils are. She went from stepping on the Pedal, to letting it crawl first, so she doesn't spin the tires when the Red light turns Green. It has an all around smooth feel, and I know gas mileage has improved. Don't fall for all that VOLTAGE talk. I tell you now, you'll LOVE these!

I have had my 03 Terminator for about seven years. It has somewhere around 550 hp to the rear. Something was missing though. It seemed to lose power at times. I bought the Ford Racing coil set and installed them with ease. Took it out for a test drive and it blew me away. The car was smooth in every gear. What a boost.

    60000 mile misfire

My 2004 Mach 1 had a low speed misfire after a trip on the highway. It has just under 60000 miles. After reading the forums I decided the stock coils needed to go. While riding down the road (in the back seat) I ordered the coils. They are a breeze to put in and the difference they made was great. The misfire is gone, mileage is up to 20+ in mixed driving and the car rips. I have a K&N fikter on the intake and a Magnaflow exhaust.

Ford Racing 4V Ignition Coil Set

Car sounded a tad better, besides that I did not notice anything special when driving my Mach.

    This is a quality product.

The Ford 4V ignition set is a high quality product. Installation is a breeze. Just take to coil/spark-plug cover off, unplug the existing coil & remove the coil...I changed the spark-plugs while changing the coils too. The new coils slide right into place so you just plug the wire to the coil and you're done. These coils make my 1999 SVT Cobra start instantly and idle smoothly. I noticed better throttle response and quicker revving than I had with the old coils. I recommend these coils!

    Excellent Replacement Coils

I had some water seep in under the coil covers which was causing them to short and throw mutiple cylinder misfire codes. Replaced them with these coils and the car is running stronger and smoother than it ever has. You can't go wrong with these coils. Install took about 15 minutes for all 8 coils on my mach 1.

    bring back your stang

These coils definitely showed how much power my stock coils had lost. I had one start to misfire so I decided to replace them all. WOW is all that I can say. They are much cheaper than going to a Ford dealer and are the exact same thing they would sell you. They brought my MPG back to stock spec and the throttle response is amazing now. As for power they didn't give any more than stock but they did regain the lost power that was due to stock coils losing their strength. Definitely a worth while investment to keep your mustang running strong.
