Description
Performance Upgrade. Upgrade the performance of your Mustang with a Ford Racing Rear Axle Assembly. A new Rear Axle Assembly with steeper 3.73 gears will give you more low end grunt off the line for lower ET's, perfect for street, road or race use.

Fully Assembled. The 8.8" Rear Axle Assembly comes fully assembled with 3.73 gears, Traction Lok Differential with conventional clutch discs, heavy duty bearings, 31 Spline Axles and rear stamped steel differential cover.

Direct Bolt-in Upgrade. This 8.8" Rear Axle Assembly is a direct bolt-in upgrade replacement for all 2005-2014 GT, Bullitt, GT500 and BOSS Mustangs. This assembly will also fit 2005-2014 V6 Mustangs only when combined with the required Cobra Flange. Please see drop down option above.

    Overall Excellent Product, Works great with my V6!

    I must say this is a great deal for the money you are paying. I had blown my gear and pinion set, and my axles were starting to corrode, so I decided I was going to basically re-do my back end. When I first checked, I simply checked for stock v6 parts. Altogether, the parts would have been around 1900, without installation. I found this to be rather high, especially because they were unassembled V6 parts. Therefore, I did my research, and came across this rear end. Only 1300 (600 dollars less), with LIMITED SLIP, 31 SPLINE AXLES, and even 3.73 gears (exactly what I was looking for, most reasonable gears). I was VERY happy with this product. It was shipped on time and right to the shop where it was installed. I would like to note though, if you are considering having this product installed on a 05-09 v6 Mustang, you MUST get a 8.8" Cobra Flange. This will allow you to actually hook up the 8.8 rear end to the v6 mustang's 7.5 driveshaft. The flange can be found at SpeedConcepts, and is only about 45 dollars. Overall, great deal, good power gains (especially with the BAMA 93 Performance Tune, bought from American Muscle). The 3.73 gears are great because they don't take off from your top end, although they give you a considerable amount of power gain in the lower gears.

    If you need a replacement Mustang axle, get this one!

    My original differential was ruined when a bearing let loose, a heartbreaking feeling! Why buy a used replacement when you can upgrade for less? Quick research showed me this axle was the one to buy and American Muscle provided free shipping! Instead of rebuilding my original for nearly $3,000 I got this beauty delivered in 9 days and installed in one for under $2,000. I can feel the difference and enjoy not only the quality but the price. Thanks American Muscle, I’ll be shopping here again!

    Awesome!!

    Just installed this in my 07 GT. It's like flipping a switch!! Car has way more torque from a dig!!! I had the stock 3:55's and the 3:73's make a huge difference. I installed the set up in 5 hours on a lift with three friends. Best money I've ever spent. Can't wait to see what I run at the track. Have a lot if other bolt on's so it should run pretty strong.

    Excellent rear end

    Not a bad install, took the time to paint it prior to install and the S197 stock rear end comes out pretty easy. Took about 5 hours start to finish and the car really jumps off the line now, this rear had 3.73 where as the stock was 3.31, much better acceleration and I lost only about 1.2 mpg highway.

    Wake up your V6 Stang

    I was very impressed with the performance. Brings a lot of power in the band where power lacks from the stock rear end. You totally feel the difference from the stock 7.5 rear end. I would definitely recommend to have the rear end painted to avoid rusting. It pretty much came bare and will start to rust in no time. So if you got a v6 mustang you want to wake up this rear axle is a must.

    Great Product!

    Great improvement

    I purchased this axle because I am increasing the hp in my car but what a difference it makes. The car pulls harder and runs much smoother combined with the one piece aluminum drive shaft A.M sells. I am very happy with the axle and shipping was surprisingly fast it took only about five days. The fit was a perfect match couldn't be any happier!!!

    V6 OWNERS LOOK HERE!

    first off I have to say this is a great priced axel especially when you're upgrading your v6 to limited slip put 20,000 miles on it no problems at all if you want limited slip don't even waste your time with changing the differential 3.73 gears: SWEET both tires peeling out and smoke in the air: SWEET a brand new more durable 8.8: SOLD like a said amazing deal on this axel, not so much if you have a gt already, but if you have v6 changing the differential to limited slip and and you have to buy the gears, then you wonder how strong the 7.5 would be this takes out all the guess work definitely the way to go especially if you hope to swap over to the V8 on day 4.6 5.0 5.4

    Alot of power gain

    Rear end is very recommended, I bought this because I blew up my old rear end. My drive shaft had to get custom made because I own a v6 instead of v8. The 8.8 is built enough I am going to put a 75 shot on my 05 v6 Procharged. Pushing 430 RWHP now. That's why my stock one blew up. I recommend not waiting and buying the product because bolts and nuts were rusting on mine with only 58,000 miles. They were a hassle to take off. The rear end spring bearing has to be re-used and the old bolts that connect the driveshaft and differential together. (4hr job)
