Not just for the 07-14 GT500
I know this says it's for the 07-14 GT500, but after reading reviews on many sites, I decided to take a chance for my 14 Mustang GT. Their are 2 caps that make great paperweights, or maybe belt buckles because my GT doesn't have an intercooler or transmission fluid cap, but I'm happy as the price was much better than I found anywhere else. One Issue I found reading peoples reviews was that they had to modify the washer fluid cap, and glue it to make it work... well, the washer fluid cap doesn't come with an adhesive strip that secures it to the original cap. Instead, it has an O-Ring. When I saw that, I just tried removing the original washer fluid cap from the bottle, then used a cutoff wheel on my Dremel to remove the hook on the bottle that served as the washer fluid cap hinge. after that, the billet cap snapped on securely, just like the original cap, but without grinding it down to glue the original cap inside it. In all, aside from making sure everything was clean, it took me maybe ten minutes to install all the caps. For anyone that hasn't changed a dipstick handle, it may take a little longer. You will need to use a light hammer and something like a finish nail to remove the pressure fit pin that holds the original in place out, as well as to drive it back in to the new handle. For the new handle, I suggest you be very careful, and drive the pin through the new handle on a semi soft surface so you don't damage the new handle. I used a piece of 2x4 as a backing with needle nose pliers to line up the first few hits on the pin with the holes on the new handle, being careful that the hole on the dipstick was also centered. As for the two extra caps your paying for, and may not need, with a little imagination, you can find other uses for them, may even be able to sell them at a swap meet or car show. The Intercooler cap is application specific, but the tranny fluid cap is a duplicate of one of the other caps, and with the price I got from American Muscle, I really don't feel like I'm paying extra for the caps I don't need. I'll put them to good use in my wardrobe as a belt buckle, and my home decor as things like a coat hook, paperweight, maybe a shadow box wall hanging, and a new thought... a door handle!!! Love the way this kit looks in my engine bay!!!
