Black on Black

Was quite undecided on either chrome or black considering i have a blacked out 05 GT, but black pins looks sleek and aggressive on black, definitely would recommend to another black mustang.

What material are the leads made of? I'd like to use this kit to determine if I like the look of hood pins before installing a functional kit. What material are the leads made of? Do they wear through the clear coat/paint after a while? Trying to determine if I need to order a clear bra to protect my new paint.

Hood Pins on the look alike hood pins, where do the metal wires go underneath the hood?

Dmike Year: 2000 Model: V6

Good Question (0) (0)
  • If they are not functional, the wires would just be screwed or adhered to the bottom of the hood. They would appear to be functional, but only you would know.

Opinion: Chrome vs. black hood pins for a white mustang? What do you think looks better on a white mustang, chrome or black hood pins?

TBird13x Year: 2012 Model: V6

Question Resolved
Good Question (0) (0)
  • If you have chrome rims and want to match, go with chrome, but if you don't it might look tacky adding chrome if that's the only shiny metal on your car. As your question started with however, only an opinion.

    Bad set replaced

I bought the appearance kit one year ago and by October the cables had rusted out and the protective layer cracked. I was disappointed till I decided to try and get a new set from AM. Customer service was great and a new set was shipped. I think the durability has changed and this new set looks much nicer. Thanks AM.

    Hold like crazy

After looking at every picture on reviews where placement was concerned, laid these on the hood until I liked what I saw. I must've measured every which way possible until I was convinced I had them centered properly. Then, use blue painters tape as a guideline to do two sides of the pins. When you peel off the back of the 3M tape, make sure you know right where it's going. It's on there forever once it makes contact. Keep a pin into the mounting bracket so that the hole is lined up where you want it. (don't eyeball it in other words) I wanted mine going east to west, but that's just personal taste. Then, (and this took the longest in installation) I wanted to mount the cables under the hood, so used two self starting screws with hex head and screwed them into the top of the radiator cover. Trick here is getting the cables the same length, and having the right amount visible wrapping around the hood. This is tricky because you have to close the hood to see where you're at. I've seen some cables from hood pins on cars that was uneven, or twisted up in the wrong way and it looks bad. Maybe I'm just anal, but if you take your time these things look great and add that muscle touch, even though they're just cosmetic. My '69 Mach had the real deal, and this is as close as you can get without drilling real holes in your hood. I love 'em.

    Black Pins Review

I ordered these pins about a week ago and installed them in under 15 minutes after some very careful measuring. The service was very good and the pins look highly satisfactory and realistic.

Black Hood Pin Appearance Kit (05-13 All)

Looks great but only the part with the stickers fit. I am unable to attach the pins under the hood, the loops that are supposed to go over the bolts are too small.

Luba, these hood pins and loops should be installing without any problems as they have on numerous other Mustangs of your year and model. Please give our customer service a call when you have a moment so we can help you further with the install.

    Ehh they were ok

I was actually excited about these things.when ingot these they were a little scratched on the black part, I also didn't expect them to be so large but I guess infant really complain about it. Ijust flipped the things back so the scratches were toward the window and it looks good i guess, I expected more for the money though..

    Great look

This black hood pin kit looks great on my Mustang. They look pretty real too! The only complaint that I have is that the black finish is pretty thin and scratches off easily around the pin holder section. Other than that, I am satisfied.

Great Add-on! Simple, fast, and easy

This hood pin appearance kit was a breeze to install. I used the bolts from my aftermarket grill to secure the wire and it looks great! It was a pain to make sure they're even on both sides but it didn't take that long. Good quality and the wires were coated with plastic so they won't scratch your hood over time. Great deal!
