After looking at every picture on reviews where placement was concerned, laid these on the hood until I liked what I saw. I must've measured every which way possible until I was convinced I had them centered properly. Then, use blue painters tape as a guideline to do two sides of the pins. When you peel off the back of the 3M tape, make sure you know right where it's going. It's on there forever once it makes contact. Keep a pin into the mounting bracket so that the hole is lined up where you want it. (don't eyeball it in other words) I wanted mine going east to west, but that's just personal taste. Then, (and this took the longest in installation) I wanted to mount the cables under the hood, so used two self starting screws with hex head and screwed them into the top of the radiator cover. Trick here is getting the cables the same length, and having the right amount visible wrapping around the hood. This is tricky because you have to close the hood to see where you're at. I've seen some cables from hood pins on cars that was uneven, or twisted up in the wrong way and it looks bad. Maybe I'm just anal, but if you take your time these things look great and add that muscle touch, even though they're just cosmetic. My '69 Mach had the real deal, and this is as close as you can get without drilling real holes in your hood. I love 'em.
