Description
Reduce Sludge. In your Mustang's engine, crankcase exhaust is re-circulated back through your PCV system and intake, taking with it large amounts of oil vapors. This JLT Oil Separator kit installs in your PCV line to filter out oil before it can get into your engine's intake - where it doesn't belong - and cause damage.

Premium Quality Kit. This high quality kit includes the JLT Oil Separator, which features billet aluminum construction with a black anodized finish for superior style and durability. The 2 oz. tank base is easily removed for draining during oil changes, and is designed with a o-ring for a leak-free seal. Plus, JLT added a Ford Motorcraft metal mesh PCV pre-filter to prevent any oil from getting back into your intake.

Easy Installation. This complete kit includes a factory PCV line that has already been modified with the necessary fittings and attached to the separator for a true plug-and-play installation.

Application. This JLT Oil Separator kit is designed for the 2011 to 2017 GT and BOSS Mustangs. Designed for direct installation on the passenger's side only (same side as the PCV valve).

Technical Note. There is a unique JLT separator kit recommended for 2007-2014 Mustang GT500's - click here.

Review & Install Video

Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here with a way to keep your Coyote motor clean, and sludge free, thanks to these JLT oil separators available in a black, or satin finish for all 2011 and newer Mustang GTs. So what do these do? Well, just about every internal combustion engine has what’s called PCV, or Positive Crank Case Ventilation. Basically what this does, is allows the oily vapors and gases that are produced during combustion, to escape the block or crank case in a controlled manner. A lot of times these oils and gases are routed through a PCV valve or a breather tube, back into the intake track to eventually be burned off by your engine. The only problem with this is these vapors can eventually dirty up the intake manifold over time and in some very extreme cases can cause damage, or lower your octane rating by diluting your fuel. This becomes even more of an issue on supercharged or turbocharged cars, where crank case pressures are increased, causing even more of this oily by product to occur. That’s where these oil separators from JLT come into play, these mount in line with your Mustang’s PCV system to catch any excess oil vapors or sludge. As a matter of fact, we did install one of these on our 2011 GT here a little while back, and since then we’ve been doing some spirited driving, and a few Dyno pulls, probably totaling 50-60 miles. Let’s take a look inside and see what we’ve collected. Alright, well there you go, that would have otherwise ended up back into our intake manifold. Taking a closer look at the kit, you’ll notice it’s actually pretty simple. JLT uses a 2 ounce, Billet aluminum collector, that’s available in your choice or either a satin silver, or a black finish, They also include these two preinstalled factory hoses, making this a completely easy plug and play install that should take you no more than 30 minutes. All you need to do is remove your factory tube connected your valve to the intake manifold, and plug the new JLT setup in its place. You will notice there are two PCV hoses on your Coyote motor, one on the passenger side and one on the driver side, does this mean you need to run two oil separators? Well, JLT claims that 80% of the oil and sludge on the Coyote motor comes from one side. Of course running one for each side would be the best option, especially if you’re running a boosted setup, but that’s for you to decide. So if you want to invest in a product that will help keep your Coyote motor free from sludge, then going with a product like this JLT oil separator would be a great place to start.

Pass vs Driver side? 2008 Roush Could I get just one for the pass. side be ok or do I need to get one for both side? which one gets more oil? Thanks

BlackJack36

  • If you're only wanting to purchase one side, go with the Passenger Side as that collects more oil than the Driver side. Having both will only help to ensure both sides are protected, but you certainly can install the one side and be much better off than having neither installed! Hope this helps!

Tune I know this isn't a bolt on expected to make horsepower, but it is designed to keep oil out that would other wise take up space in the combustion chamber and potentially lead to predetonation in severe cases. But would a new Bama tune be a good idea after installing one of these? Or would you guys even change the tune for only adding oil separators?

CodyG

  • There is no tune required to use this oil separator. It is a bolt-on part. I have has this JLT oil separator in my 5.0 for over a month and it has not inhibited normal operation of my engine. In fact even after a week of operation I could see the oil remaining in the reservoir that would have otherwise been in my intake and valves.

    JLT Oil separator

As usual, fast shipping from AM! Overall I'm impressed with the quality of the can and filter. This separator was also the easiest installation I have ever done on a car - literally 30 seconds and done. In my opinion though, it is a little overpriced, but I see it as an investment in my engine for the long term. I hope to have this 5.0 for a looooong time.... **There are JLT separators for both the drivers and passengers side of the engine. If you're only planning on getting one, get the passenger's side. That's where a majority of the oil passes through before heading back into the intake.**

    This product might shock you

When I installed the JLT sperator I was expecting a great product the worked well at keeping the oil out of the intake. What I got was a beautiful looking oil sperator that perfectly and litteraly plugs right in and after a week of normal driving shocked me with just how much oil it keeps out of my 5.0. I recommend this product as a MUST have for anyone no matter how you drive your car this will be a purchase you never question. One look after an oil change interval will convince you and anyone else who doubts how effective this seperator is, and the looks will always make you smile.

    Boss Fitment Issue

I received my order from AM in 2 days from the date I ordered... Excelent shipping as usual. When I installed the JLTOSP-FMG11-B JLT Oil Separator (PS) the can hits the coolant tank and the knurled part marred the plastic on it. What I did, which was no big deal was cut the tube on the valve cover side 2" shorter and re-clamped it with a 365 deg. #17 ss Oetiker clamp which centered the can between the coolant tank the the front of the engine. (I downloaded photos which I'm assuming AM will post) Other than that the product is high quality and based on what I've been told should resolve unwanted oil getting into the intake manifold.

No question, it's nice and easy.

Didn't have a single problem installing this, and it looks great. Literally took less than 5 minutes. Accidently ordered 2 and AM took the second one back without any problems or questions. I have bought over 90% of my parts for my 2011 5.0L from AM and I plan on buying TONS more. Thanks AM!

    Easy Peasy

Install was super quick - old one out, old one in, in under 3 minutes without any tools. Has a very clean, stock look with factory lines and fittings. Sits well without adding anything required to hold it up. I'm interested to see how much oil it collects as my 2015 GT is a daily driver in moderate to heavy traffic. I will update with pictures in 500 miles.

    Good product

It fit in perfect, looks good and works well. The passenger side has most of the oil blow by, so if your going to buy 1 get that side.

    Unsung hero?

This was a snap to install, like the idea of filtering the oil out of the air before it can cause problems. Probably will never know how much this saves the engine. Was surprised when I bought a Bama Diablosport Trinity T-1000 Tuner, they told me that this product could have air leaks and cause problems with the tune?

    JLT oil separator

I appreciate the dedication and accuracy in the making of this product. This is a direct fit to the 5.0 Coyote motor (2015 Coupe) and took myself only 2 minutes to remove and install WITH the engine cover on. It's a direct plug, twist, and play. My only discrepancy is I wish there was an option for slightly different looks, colors, etc. other than that, it fits and looks great. I look forward to my next oil change to see how much oil was prevented from getting to the intake!

Not bad & gives you peace of mind...

I'm running the FRPP GT TracKey with "Track Idle" ghost cam, and the paperwork from FRPP said that conditions may exist requiring the use of an oil separator with the car. I went ahead and just added it for peace of mind. Installation is rather simple, although, I did have to let my JLT oil separator sit in a warm part of my house for a couple of days so the hoses would relax a little. Doing so helped enough for me to be able to install it on the car, but it wasn't sitting level. This was purely an aesthetic issue to me, but in no way would mess with it's function. I was happy to see after driving the car a little with some engine heat under the hood, the lines attaching to the oil separator fully relaxed and the oil separator sits nicely in the engine bay now. My only concerns with this product are with the plastic fittings attached to the can itself (longevity) and how it looks to rest slightly on a sensor harness. Probably no big deal but I'll keep my eye on it.
