Can I tune the CAI to my car by myself if I have an SCT tuner? that I bought from AM. I bought the SCT from AM. I want to be able to buy Intake and install it and drive same day with out waiting for a tune to come to me from Bama. Because if it doesn't work and I have installed intake I would have to put old intake back on in order to drive car. Would like some feed back on this, Thanks Jeremy

  • Why not just e-mail them ahead of the time and have a tune sent to you while it is being shipped? That way when you get it that tune will already be ready.

How often should I clean and oil this air filter?

Chet271

  • It's recommended that every time you change your oil, to check the filter and see how much dirt has accumulated. But I'd say every 15,000 miles or twice a year

Keep having problems with the check engine light and wrench light on dash ever since I installed the cai. Don't know what to do, I cleaned the TB and the lights still come on. Car doesn't drive well now. Really upset of this.

    Awesome intake

I bought this intake along with a bama tune and I was skeptical to buy one but my friend kept telling me to get one. So I just said yolo and bought one. Man, this intake sure does help my car! I put it on performance tune and it was awesome! Tried out Race Tune and it is a BEAST! I decided to see how much better this intake and tune helped me out so I decided to go to the track for proof. This JLT intake with PERFORMANCE tune cut my stock time by .5-.45 seconds on the track! I tried to go with Race Tune but I had huge wheel spin on Race Tune. I would recommend this product, but the only thing I didn't like was that the pcv hose didn't exactly fit right, besides that, the product was worth it! I felt more throttle response with all tunes except street.

    Next Gen Technology

This really adds a good amount of horsepower, and paired with my Bama 93 octane race tune really wakes up the car. Acceleration is harder from a stop and throttle response is instant!

    Excellent First Mod!

The JLT Next Gen cold air intake is a great product. Installed in about 20 minutes with minimal effort. Great look and sound as well. Combined with a tune the improvments are noticed instantly and makes the car that much more fun to drive.

Feels like my stang is finally awake.

Bought this with the tuner. Install only took 15 minutes, but getting the tune loaded took a bit longer. Problem was my actual PCM code was different from what was on the sticker, so the tune i ordered was wrong. Took an extra day for Bama to sort it out, but after it was up and running, it was just thrilling. The throttle response was quicker, and it felt like i needed less gas pedal depression for the same amount of GO as before. Didn't notice THAT much of a difference in power, maybe because i already ran on a generic CAI (no tune) before switching to this setup. The quality of the JLT CAI is amazing. Only complaint is if the PCV hose had some sort of latch at the end that attaches on to the valve, it would make installation and removal much easier and safer.

    Nice Addon

Installed very easy and it looks great. I am having an issue with my BAMA tunes not working atm and had to remove due to running too rich i guess. Would have given all 5's if the tune worked.

    Quick Installation and Nice Fit!

The JLT CAI series 2 kit for the V6 mustang installs quickly and provides you with everything you need. I was able to install the filter and the tune in @ 45 minutes......once Dann e-mailed me the tunes that were never installed on my tuner. Dann did E-mail the tunes immediately, great customer service! The extra torque and improved shift points were noticed immediately. The car used to have a flat spot in the midrange, and now it just goes. Excellent addition to the 4.0 mustang! Ford should have done this from the factory! This is a quick and easy way to improve the overall fun factor in driving your V6 mustang! Steve - MD

Excellent choice for your 4.0 V6!

I was skeptical, like many people, of commiting to buy a CAI, especially being a student in college. I'm Just getting back from Afghanistan and upgrading the 'stang a little, I decided to give this a try, and I can most definitely say I was not disappointed! The CAI notably improves throttle response throughout the RPM band in all gears, not just down low in 1st, 2nd, ect. like you might expect. The fit is good and it looks great with the rest of the engine components, and it provides a purely mean 'hissing' sound when you get a case of lead foot now and then. Between this and the 91 Octance performance tune, the car feels totally woken up. You won't be eating S197 GTs for breakfast or anything, but the difference really is there, it's amazing what such a simple product can do for the 'feel' of the car.

    Great upgrade! Tight fit

Received the box and was super excited to install. Installation was straightforward except for the filter as it was a tight fit. I needed to lift the CAI up enough to angle it for the filter to slide on. Other than that, super straight forward. Use this wil X4 tuner (recommend the combo) as a tune is required. On 91 RACE I love to punch the throttle and hear the air being sucked in. Let's me know the engine is sucking in all the air it can handle. The performance gain was two fold as the tune is required, therefore I cannot say if the tune or the CAI assisted in gains. That being the case, the combo is a great bolt on that can be completed in under an hour.

JLT Performance Next Generation Cold Air Intake (05-09 V6)

Definitely worth buying! My Mustang was only used to get me to a from work. Didn't really do much else with it until I installed the JLT CAI and the tune with BAMA Performance. Really woke up my mustang and is a ton of fun to drive. Definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a boost in performance.

    Just do it

It took about 15 minutes to install and then another 10 to tune. On JLT's website they have a video showing exactly how to put this in for the ultra beginners. I owned my 4.0 since 07 and it's now 2014... I should have put this mod in my car years ago. I used the 87 Octane Performance tune. The first time you go full throttle after this install you will be amazed. If you are thinking about doing this mod to your car, just go ahead and buy it now.
