More Usable Horsepower. With a JLT Performance "Next Generation" Ram Air Intake installed under the hood of your Mustang GT you can expect to see gains of up to 8-12 more horsepower at the rear wheels across the entire RPM range. In addition to an increase in horsepower you will also see an impressive improvement in throttle response.

Heat Shield Included. The JLT Performance Ram Air Intake includes a vacuum formed ABS plastic heat shield that not only looks great, but blocks out excessive under hood engine heat at low speed and idle that can rob you of power.

Money Saving Reusable Filter. JLT ram air intake kits come complete with a 4x9 high flow reusable S&B brand air filter. So that means there is no need to go out and buy a new filter every few thousand miles. Now you can just clean the filter, re-oil it, save money, and go!

Easy Installation. The JLT Performance "Next Generation" Ram Air Intake kit was designed to install with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation.

Great looking and good sound but I've had easier installs

Hello all. This is my 3rd cold air intake I've owned and like the review states it's a great looking and great performing, but the wrong size coupling came with it so it made for an adventure to install.

Looking to know more about this intake would this intake be better then getting a cold air intake ? would I get better mpg ? more acceleration ? could I still install a throttle body with this installed ? could I still install an upper intake plenum with this installed ?

  • The power is slightly less with this intake as opposed to a fender well intake, but it's easier to clean and yes you can absolutely add an aftermarket TB and plenum.

Will the engine strut bar fit after installation? I'm referring to the engine compartment strut bar that spans from fender well to fender well, over the engine.

Hello all. This is my 3rd cold air intake I've owned and like the review states it's a great looking and great performing, but the wrong size coupling came with it so it made for an adventure to install. Once the one coupling which connects the tube to the MAF was on it was a piece of cake like all intakes, but wow I really wish the correct coupler came with it to connect these two parts.

Good product looks great under the hood and very easy install installed at the same time as heads and cams so not sure how much horsepower it actually gave me alone. I do wish is had the rubber connecter for the 90mm maf. American muscle customer service is always top notch

This ram air was made very well, the only problem I had was the filter was a little to big had to shove it in there to make it fit but besides that it is a great cold air intake. Paired with a throttle body you can hear the intake sucking air. I recommend this to anyone!!

    Next Gen?

I really wasn't sure about this purchase at first because its brand new. But it looks great, and it fits under my strut tower brace, although you will need two pieces of the hose to get both tubes attached to the intake. Car pulls through the rpms much smoother than it did with my K&N drop in, not much more of a power gain though.

    Problems with aftermarket throttle body

So I was just looking to switch from my BBK cold air intake so that its easier to clean the filters every so often and this air intake will definitely be easier to do that with in my opinion. However, I have the aftermarket accufab 70mm throttle body and plenum combo kit from AM and I would say this intake does not go together well with that setup. I had to leave my old small filter in so that I could fit the heat shield around the filter. Otherwise, I could get my intake and filter to fit but it was to crammed for the shield. Also, I'm pretty sure this kit comes with the wrong sized couplings. Overall, its hard to say performance wise, its GTG probably because I didn't notice any loses and I noticed a little more aggression but I also upgraded my tune so its hard to say. Install was a pain.

    Air Intake

Easy to install...could not tell much on performance gain because we installed an exhaust and tuner at the same time.

    Great Product!

The JLT ram air intake installed in approximately 45 minutes. The directions were clearly labeled and easy to follow. The inlet tube is much larger than stock and came with a good quality air filter. There was a noticeable "seat of the pants" improvement in acceleration with no negative change in gas mileage. This intake is a must for anyone considering adding a cold air intake.

    Somewhat disappointed!

I didn't expect much of a performance gain, because I didn't do a tune, but I would've expected a better fit. The filter was too big, but I managed to get it squeezed in behind the headlight. However I cannot get the heat shield around the filter and screwed in. Other than that my car is working properly, and I can hear the sucking in the filter.

This product is great when coupled with a tune

I have an 01 GT. I will say I had trouble with getting the right horsepower. There was a lot of lag time in the acceleration response. I called AM and they said it was because I needed a tune to fully take advantage of HP the CAI has to offer. It did however change the sound of my exhaust to a throaty grunt with my Flow Master pipes. I guess that was my mistake not seeing it said heat shield. I was very dissatisfied with the heat shield not completely enclosing the air filter so as to suck in more cold air. If you can get past the heat shield and if you have tuning equipment I would recommend this product.
