Hey I’m Justin with, here with a way to keep your 4.6L motor clean and sludge free, I’m referring to these JLT oil separators available in your choice of either black or satin fitting all 2005-2010 Mustang GTs. So what does an oil separator do? Well, just about every internal combustion engine has what is called PCV or positive crank case ventilation, this allows the small amount of blow by and gases that are produced during combustion to escape the crank case or block in a controlled manner. In just about every case, these oily vapors and fluids are rerouted through a PCV valve or breather tube, back into the intake to be burned up by your motor, the only problem with this is those oily vapors can oftentimes coat and dirty up the intake manifold, and in some extreme cases either cause damage, or lower the octane rating of your fuel by diluting your gas. This becomes even more of an issue on the supercharged or turbocharged cars where the crank case pressures can be increased, causing more of this oily by product or blow by to occur. That’s where these separators from JLT come into play. This kit mounts in line with your Mustang’s PCV system to catch any of that blow by or sludge we just talked about. We did install one of these on our 06 GT here a little while ago, and since then we’ve done some pretty hard driving, a few Dyno pulls and maybe an odd burnout or two. With that said, let’s take the kit off and see what we’ve collected. And there you go, this oily mess would have otherwise ended up going back into our intake manifold to be burned off by our engine. Taking a closer look at this kit from JLT you’ll actually notice it’s pretty simple. JLT utilizes a 2 ounce Billet aluminum collector, that is available in your choice of either black or satin, the kit does install 2 factory preinstalled hoses along with the fittings making this an extremely easy plug and play install here that should take you no more than a few minutes. You’ll simply want to remove the factory hose first, and then reinstall the JLT in reverse order. In the end, if you want to help keep your 3 valve 4.6L motor free of sludge, then going with this JLT oil separator would be a great place to start.

Reduce Sludge. In your Mustang's engine, crankcase exhaust is re-circulated back through your PCV system and intake, taking with it large amounts of oil vapors. This JLT Oil Separator kit installs in your PCV line to filter out oil before it can get into your engine's intake - where it doesn't belong - and cause damage.

Premium Quality Kit. This high quality kit includes the JLT Oil Separator, which features billet aluminum construction with a satin anodized finish for superior style and durability. The 2 oz. tank base is easily removed for draining during oil changes, and is designed with a o-ring for a leak-free seal. Plus, JLT added a Ford Motorcraft metal mesh PCV pre-filter to prevent any oil from getting back into your intake.

Easy Installation. This complete kit includes a factory PCV line that has already been modified with the necessary fittings and attached to the separator for a true plug-and-play installation.

Application. This JLT Oil Separator kit is designed for 2005 to 2010 Mustang GTs. Designed for direct installation on the driver's side only (same side as the PCV valve).

Cleanest install out there

This is a great piece. Comes all assembled and installs in minutes. Only thing is if you have "Fuel Rail Covers" you will have to modify the driver's side one for this piece.

Fast and simple install

This is a valuable addition to the new 5.0. GET IT, save your engine and the enviroment. A very easy install. I put it on me Roush Stage 2.

will it fit with a cdc shaker scoop

Will this fit with a Vortech supercharger?


  • You will probably have to replace the tubes that come with it with rubber hoses. I had to do this with mine. remove the clamps at the can, then heat the tube with a hairdryer, and then you can remove the quick connect ends and from the cans. works great.

I have fuel rail covers installed . are hoses long enough to keep seperator away from covers? can longer hoses be ordered to move separator away from rail cover


  • The Oil Separator will not be able to reach with the fuel rail covers installed. Longer hoses are not available however longer hoses can be clamped onto the fittings if need be.

will this fit a Whipple supercharger equipped 4.6 Shelby SGT


  • I think you have to mod them to fit specific blower configurations. Its easy, just go to your local auto parts and pick up extra emission hose!!

    Cleanest install out there

    This is a great piece. Comes all assembled and installs in minutes. Only thing is if you have "Fuel Rail Covers" you will have to modify the driver's side one for this piece.

    As a unit it looks great. As for functionality.....well, when I looked in, there was oil!! So, it works great! It was easy to install....plug and play as they say.

    pays to wait

    i had a upr catch can on drivers side. had to cut and shape hoses to fit---- moved this to passenger side JLT catch can very easy to install--- looks like it came from the factory installed.. anyone that knows how to open the hood can install this catch can

    Great addition

    Ordered this after finding small puddles of oil sitting in my TB and spacer. After just a week of driving with this on, I was surprised in how much oil there was already. Not to mention the install couldnt be easier and it looks good under the hood!

    A must have!

    10 second install, and you're off to a cleaner, healthier engine! The stuff its catching looks like chocolate milk. You don't want this garbage in your engine.

    It works!

    This is good product. I don't catch much oil due to the fact that i don't always drive my car hard. I was a little uneasy about how it fits. It sits right up against the connector to the coil. Installation was super easy and is very easy to clean. My only complaint is that I do see some oil in the hose that connects to the intake. So I assume some oil does get by the filtration.

    It's not rocket surgery...

    Good god, perhaps one of thee most easiest mods to perform on your engine; you could almost install with your eyes closed. JLT obviously went through great lengths to engineer this item to fit perfectly. Once installed, the unit looks very much at home. I am glad I went with the silver/satin finish instead of the black. I have no regrets because the mechanical concept surrounding this unit is sound and makes sense. Having said that, I have one concern: After reading some comments in a couple Mustang forums, I hope my installing this unit does not void any warranties.

    great product, only one problem

    The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because it doesnt seem to seal up all the way. It catches the oil and thats great but I have a problem with oil leaking from it and basically coating the outside of the tube and it's starting to leak onto one of the hoses so it looks bad everytime I open the hood. So I have to wipe it down everytime I open it so people don't see just a bunch of black gunk on the part. I did check to make sure it was closed and it was and I never cross threaded it or damaged it in anyway, it's been a problem from the start. But other than that it does its job. I might try to upload a picture later so everyone can see the problem. Hope y'all have better luck than I did!

      I can only imagine one of the connections is damaged because we've never had that issue previously. I'll be sure to have a new one shipped and a return label sent for the one currently installed!

    Highly recommended..ESP with a blower !

    I had the the JLT Oil separator installed at the same time as my Roush M-90 blower. The oil separator is highly recommended at the best of times..and ESP if a blower is installed. On my 2010 GT [auto], the JLT oil separator gets installed on the DRIVERS side. You DON'T want gunk being spewed all over the throttle body, supercharger rotor pack, inter-cooler, and new intake manifold ! Most rotor packs these days now have Teflon coated rotor lobes. Protect your expensive investment. My local Roush dealer installed the M-90 blower and also the JLT Oil separator. The Roush dealer liked the idea, when I told him to install it, along with the blower install. He said it was a good investment, good idea on my part, and cheap vs the cost of the new blower/new manifold, etc. Just check and empty it each oil change.

    JLT Oil Separator

    The JLT Oil Separator was extremely easy to install. It literally took seconds to do and it was done. This is truly one product that goes on in a snap. Keeping oil out of my intake is a must if I want to keep optimum performance for years. I would strongly recommend it for anyone.

    JLT easy install

    This was the one of the easiest installations I've ever had with just about any product. Less than 2 minutes to remove the old hose and install the JLT oil separator. Great product.

    JLT oil separator-what a breeze!

    This product was very, very easy to install - took me less than one minute! It looks great and I'm looking forward to the next oil change to see what it captures and keeps out of my 'Stang's heart. Great work, JLT. I definitely recommend this product.

    This is a great looking unit, but, unfortunately, if you installed Scott Drake fuel rails, it will not install as they say it will. With a little thought and know how. it will work just fine. I gave it a three rating just for that reason. Once you install it, works just as they said it would. If you have the stock fuel rails. 30 second install time is right on the money. Yes, I recomend this as it looks and works great.
