Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m taking a closer look at our AmericanMuscle 2000 Cobra R style hood, fitting all 99-04 Mustangs. The 2000 Cobra R car is one of those unicorn cars in the Mustang folklore, this extremely rare car was designed to do one thing, kick ass on the race track, and look good while doing so. The motivation behind this ass kicking was possible thanks to the 5.4L, 385 horse motor that Ford had to shoehorn into the SN95’s engine bay. This wasn’t exactly some drop in swap, Ford had to make new engine mounts, new lower mount cross member, and last but not least, the bulging dome hood was added. This hood from AmericanMuscle was designed to give your New Edge that same aggressive styling found on the y2k Cobra R, this includes the bulging power dome here in the center, including these 4 non functioning vents here at the top of the cowl. I’m not going to tell you to cut up your new hood, however, if you did want to make these vents actually functional, all you would need is a dremel or something similar, to cut out the face of the vents, but again that’s totally up to you. I’ll be the first to tell you that AmericanMuscle is not going to put their name on anything that isn’t of top notch quality, and these hoods are a perfect example of that. These hoods have been designed using a lightweight wave free fiberglass construction, that fits great without needing to be trimmed, or modified. If you want to see how well these hoods fit on customer rides, go ahead and click the link below, where you can visit our site, and see dozens of customer submitted images of this hood, and many more. As you can see, these AM hoods don’t feature any holes to be used with the factory squirter nozzles, just to maintain a much cleaner appearance. If this is something you cannot live without, CDC makes a kit which relocates those nozzles from the hood to the actual wiper arm, that should solve any dilemma there. Even though we do have our hood painted for this video, I will point out that this hood ships unpainted, so getting it sprayed and color matched to your ride will ultimately be up to you and your local body shop. Once the hood is sprayed getting it installed should only take you about an hour using some basic hand tools, and an extra set of hands. I will say one of the nice things about this hood is it does utilize the OEM hood latch and hinge locations, which should make the install that much easier. The 2000 Cobra R had a very intimidating look from the front, and a big part of that was due to the aggressive lines of this hood, so if you want your New Edge to share that same tough styling, then be sure to check out one of these unpainted Cobra R style hoods, right here at AmericanMuscle.com, and if you want to check out some of my other product overviews on literally hundreds of Mustang parts, burnouts and some of our project cars, then subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking the link below, or in the corner.
