The spray paint low down:
  1. Clean surface to be painted with a light, non-oil base cleaner and allow to dry
  2. Protect areas not to be painted from overspray
  3. Hold can approximately 10 inches away moving can back and forth while spraying in a light even coat
  4. Allow to dry thoroughly
  5. Apply additional coats if necessary to achieve desired darkness
NOTE: When painting, several light coats will result in a better finish then one thick coat. This also helps prevent drips.

Or you could go the lazy man's route and just purchase a pair of smoked Mustang headlights.
