Great design, but a general kit.

The look and quality of this kit is amazing. However, this kit is sold for a wide range of years. I have a 03 gt and the bearing included was 1/2 inch too long. If you plan on ordering this kit, do yourself

Great design, but a general kit.

The look and quality of this kit is amazing. However, this kit is sold for a wide range of years. I have a 03 gt and the bearing included was 1/2 inch too long. If you plan on ordering this kit, do yourself a favor and contact mcleod the same day you order it and have them send you the correct bearing. Just send the one included in the kit back to them and there will be no charge.

A nicely designed and manufactured piece of kit

    December 08, 2011

I haven't got around to installing this kit in my car yet but I'm very impressed with the build quality of the parts and how well thought out the system is. I actually got to meet the McLeod guys at SEMA and they showed me through the kit, I was very impressed with their professionalism. I'm actually changing a right hand drive converted 95 Mustang from automatic to manual transmission and I was really worrying about how I would do the clutch cable - this kit will make the job a piece of cake and the car will be nicer to drive too, it's a win-win for me!!

    hydrualic clutch conversion

    September 30, 2012

The kit looked great, looked likie it had all the rite parts. The first thing I noticed was the t/o bearing was not the rite one. So I called Mceod racing, told them that I could not get the proper clearance between the t/o bearing and p/p he asked what trans I had and told me I had the wrong bearing. So they sent me a return lable and I returned the t/o bearing. It took 2 weeks to get the new bearing. while I was waiting I started installing the master sylinder. wellit would not clear the valvecover ,so I had to modify the firewall opening so it would work. thenI had a hard time finding a location for the resivoir(would not fit where instructions said) I finally got the master cylinder and resivior mounted, lines run and insulated from heat from the exsaust. I had to make a cover for the bell housing. then it came time to bleed the system,I did not think I would ever get all the air out ,purchased a pressure bleeder . I could go on for days Fially got car on road clutch peddle was so inconsistant from cold to hot I could not belive it. So icalled Mcleod again and the told me that was normal and maybe the fluid was getting to hot. When it was cold you had to mash the pedle to the mat after it warmed up it took all the way at the top of the pedel travel I decided this was unaceptable. What realy made me mad after all the work I did and money I spent I was worse off than when I started. So now I have removed the transmission again, removed the t/o bearing and am exchanging it for an external slave sylinder. The car is a 2003 mach 1 if you have any ideas about converting to hydraulics foget it. I woul like to say that mcleod racilg has been very good about working with me on this project. I started this project in july maybe I will finish this year. Good thing I have a spare car.

    Don't bother

    August 26, 2012

Ordered this kit and when it come in I was I Pressed by the appearance and quality of manufacturing. However that's where it ended. After reading the cryptic installation instructions and getting things sorted out, I could NOT get the air bled out of the system. The kit comes with a spare set of seals which I Swapped and finally bled it. First time I pushed the pedal I ruptured the seals...called McLeod (amazing customer service) and told them what was going on. They sent me the other version which was easier to install; HOWEVER, the slave and master cylinder are the SAME SIZE, thus the mechanical advantage is 1:1....that's NOT advantageous at all. Basically when I was done I had a very expensive and very difficult to operate clutch system...

I'm sorry you couldn't get a hold of McLeod the first time you tried. I did check their support number (714-630-2764) and it seems to be working. I'd suggest giving them another call. They have a great warranty so they should be happy to help you without any issues. If you still are having difficulties, please give us a call!
