I'm not a tall person 5'7 but i got a mustang and the stock seat just seems a little close for me. But will these make my stock seats move to far where i can't reach the peddles?

  • No. I shifts everything back about 4-1/2 inches, so at 5'7", you probably will be able to slide it back far enough to put the pedal out of reach, but you don't have to move it back that far; you can still adjust your seat the way you did before - you're just starting out 4-1/2 inches farther back. It turns out that 3" (I have a convertible) feels like about a foot in terms of leg room. I'm 5'11", and could have lived without the extensions, but, like you, felt just a little too close all the way back. These put me back to a more comfortable position, with plenty room to spare. In installed them in about 45 minutes, and could probably do it in half that now that I've done it once. Very easy procedure.

Answer This Question

Front most position effected? Does this track extension also move the front-most position back 3" to start with or does it cover the original range, too?

  • Yes it moves the actual mount location back 3" so you lose the forward 3 inches of travel.

Will these work with the Corbeau brackets? I suffer from a combination of being too tall and having worn out seats, so I was hoping to take care of it all with one big purchase (Corbeau LG1 seats, the required brackets, and track extenders).

  • I am completely satisfied with my new carbou CR1 (wide) seats and the esp the seat extensions. Consider the wide seats. Im 6'2" 230 and cant imagine remotely fitting in the regular width seats.

Hi do u have seat track extension for a 1971 ford mustang mach 1.

  • We do not have any items for Mustangs pre-dating 1979. However since some Ford parts have fitment for more years than we carry, as long as you know for sure these will work in your 1971 Mach 1 you can still make the purchase for them.

Brings new life for the big and tall !!!

There's plenty of us taller people out there that know what I'm talking about. The seat never reaches that perfect spot. With the seat track extenders, you achieve those extra few inches. While keeping your knees off the steering wheel. They're very sturdy, well made, not some flimsy knock-off. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for those extra inches.

    Seat Extensions

The extensions were very easy to install. My hardware was missing, but a quick trip to the hardwre store fixed this. I am not on the tall side, but rather on the "round" side. The extensions let my "Tool Shed" fit nicely behind the steering wheel. I would reccommend to any other larger Mustang owners. Great job American Muscle!!!!!!!! BTW my stang in a 1991 Vert...

    A must have for giants!

I'm 6'8, and these things are great! Not too difficult to install. Had to use a dremel tool to grind a few bolt holes bigger, but other than that, it went very smooth.

    Seat Track Extensions

These were installed in about 30 mins. No modification required on my 01 GT. I'm a 6'5" and now have alot more room to stretch my legs now. Feels like a new car. Love these. Should have been my first Mod. Thanks AM.

well i thought it was gonna be a nice and easy 5 minute job, but when i went to put them in the holes didnt line up right and i had to drill another hole in it to make it fit, other than that i like them, they give alot of extra leg room. good product!

Love the extra legroom...not sure about the increased seat height.

I'm 6-5 and was never able to get into a comfortable position in my '93 GT. This product FINALLY allows me to sit back far enough to keep my legs in the perfect position to shift comfortably. Wish I had bought this before driving from Miami to Atlanta. The info says it raises the seat 1/2" but it feels higher. If I don't make a conscious effort to duck a little when getting in, I bump my head on the door sill or roof as I settle in the seat. I guess in time I'll get used to it but after a couple weeks i'm still not there. Finally, the install wasn't as easy as I thought. I had a hard time getting one of the extenders to fit because of a slight hump on the floor. But, overall I really like the product and looking forward to many more years of comfortable driving/shifting!!

Does what it says. Adds leg room. However it does lift your seat up about an inch or two. I feel like I'm sitting in a booster seat now but I do have more leg room. Also the holes did not match up properly. They were so close but I had to drill new ones.

    Great brackets!

This is a must have for anyone over 6'. I am 6'5" and fit perfect with these brackets in my 98' gt. i could extend my legs almost all the way out, however i lost about an inch of headroom since the roof height gets shorter as you move back. I started out with about 3 inches of headroom but now i have 2 inches but that is still plenty. Installation is pretty straight forward but each of the 2 brackets is meant to go on the left or right side. The brackets fit in perfectly but when i put my seat back on i could only blot the front 2 screws to the seat but the back 2 screws won't fit and are about an inch off. I shook it around and it seems pretty solid so theres nothing really to worry about. Thanks american muscle!

    Worth every dime!

I bought these extensions a couple of weeks ago. Installed in about 30 minutes and boy I never knew how much room you would have up front with a few extra inches in front of you. I can just about extend my legs completely out with the extenders installed and I'm 6'3". Worth every penny for the foxbody drivers over 6'0. FYI, the item does make you sit higher in the cockpit, so that will take a little getting used to, but no biggie for me since I drive a convertible.

    Mustang Seat Extension

Nicely packaged, heavy duty material, installation was a snap.....BUT, you end up sitting much higher than the alledged 1/2" as stated. This is OK if you are on the shorter side, but if above 6'2 it presents an awkward arrangement

    seat track extenders

the quality of the part itself is great. however installing involves some modifying. i had to also elongate the seat track holes so the seatbelt guide would not hit the light bar. the seat also does not go back that much further because of hitting the seatbelt.

    It's good and bad.

The good news is yes, you will gain more than enough legroom. Thr bad news is, the seat will be raised about 3 inches despite what AM says. even with a power seat pushed down as far as it will go, you will have to duck down to see out of the windshield.
